These homeowners wanted to freshen up their master bath and at the same time, improve it's overall function and retain/accentuate it's vintage qualities. There was nothing wrong with the hex tile floor, toilet, or vintage tub. The toilet was repurposed, the floor was cleaned up, and the tub refinished. Cabinetry and vintage trim was added in critical locations along with a new, taller one-sink vanity. Removing an overlay revealed a beautiful vintage door leading to storage space under the East roof. Photos by Greg Schmidt. Cabinets by Housecraft Remodeling.

A bank of windows with a floor-board heater underneath them was critical space that we captured with a series of wall-hung cabinets. The quartz top extends into the window.
The maple butcher-block island top is finished with food-grade mineral oil so the client can use it for prep. Natural maple floating shelves pick up the island top finish.

A tiny jewel box apartment nestled into the landmarked neighborhood of Forest Hills, this renovation included custom work in every corner.
In order to maximize space, uneven walls on the window wall were built out to become storage spaces. The kitchen, clad in a clean solid surface material, houses hidden storage spots.
Attention to detail was critical throughout this space. The floors are made of solid, wide plank white oak, and they meet along the main divide of the apartment to form a chevron spine.

The exterior of a home plays a critical role in creating a positive first impression for potential buyers. It's important that the exterior looks clean, well-maintained, and visually appealing, as this can greatly influence a buyer's decision to explore the property further. However, it's equally important to ensure that the design and colour scheme of the exterior are in harmony with the surrounding environment.
By carefully selecting a colour scheme that complements the surrounding landscape and architectural style, we enhanced the visual appeal, which will make prospective buyers want to explore the inside of the home as well.

While this new home had an architecturally striking exterior, the home’s interior fell short in terms of true functionality and overall style. The most critical element in this renovation was the kitchen and dining area, which needed careful attention to bring it to the level that suited the home and the homeowners.
As a graduate of Culinary Institute of America, our client wanted a kitchen that “feels like a restaurant, with the warmth of a home kitchen,” where guests can gather over great food, great wine, and truly feel comfortable in the open concept home. Although it follows a typical chef’s galley layout, the unique design solutions and unusual materials set it apart from the typical kitchen design.
Polished countertops, laminated and stainless cabinets fronts, and professional appliances are complemented by the introduction of wood, glass, and blackened metal – materials introduced in the overall design of the house. Unique features include a wall clad in walnut for dangling heavy pots and utensils; a floating, sculptural walnut countertop piece housing an herb garden; an open pantry that serves as a coffee bar and wine station; and a hanging chalkboard that hides a water heater closet and features different coffee offerings available to guests.
The dining area addition, enclosed by windows, continues to vivify the organic elements and brings in ample natural light, enhancing the darker finishes and creating additional warmth.

The clean lines of a rectangular pool form an elegant connection between an existing residence and its natural surroundings by way of critical alignments. Set into a gently sloping hillside, the program features a perimeter sitting wall and plantings that add colorful impressions while helping to define various lounge areas, or rooms, and walkways, or hallways, around the pool.

Smart technology was incorporated into this Needham bathroom remodel as part of a whole house overhaul. The client was looking for a clean, modern look while maximizing space. Lighting was critical as there are no windows in this pass-through bathroom. The mirror uses an environmentally-friendly LED light strip which reduces energy waste. Also, the backlit design is a natural and soft light, your eyes can easily adapt and is more suitable for makeup. There is a USB port and two additional outlets inside. An organizer on the first shelf keeps clutter off the counter.

This house is sited on the steep, north facing slope of Snow King Mountain. The main living spaces are located on the top level to take advantage of the sweeping views of the Tetons and National Elk Refuge. Arrival at this top level is through a stair atrium generously illuminated with skylights, which filter daylight throughout the interior – critical to a site deep in the trees with no direct sun during the winter months.
