The clients wanted to upgrade from the 80s tract look to early California Colonial look. They wanted attention to detail, and they wanted an indoor and outdoor "living" home because they wanted to spend as much time outdoors as indoors. They also wanted to construct an open, outside cabana style living room with a classic fireplace.
The home was completely remodeled. Every room and every surface, inside and out, to some extent, got a makeover. The existing "typical" California patio was made part of the structure with a 20x20, 400 square foot cabana style addition, with 14' ceilings under a new roof system. In an effort to bring the outside in, a two-tiered pre-cast concrete fountain was installed, providing just the right touch of ambiance. A pre-cast concrete fireplace with a double corbel Mediterranean mantle was then set and surrounded with tile. The floor was set with travertine and the walls were finished with a smooth finish plaster.
To create a more formal atmosphere, the cabana patio has Mediterranean archways with fabric curtains for inclement weather. The cabana patio is divided into two separate areas, one for enjoying a meal with friends, and the other for merely sitting and enjoying the beautiful Northern California weather. Each of the areas received Mission-style chandeliers; task lighting was provided by recessed can lights. Hacienda blend cap and pan roof tiles were applied to the entire roof and then finished with a copper Conestoga chimney top. Smooth stucco was applied and painted in a Fallbrook color.

Liz CrivelloA newly divorced mom purchased a new home and wanted to create her own sanctuary where she could have friends to watch the Super Bowl, play cards and have a glass of wine. It was important that her adult children would feel comfortable. By exploring various design styles, we were able to narrow down the perfect look for her by sourcing dark velvet furnishings mixed with contemporary shapes and metal finishes.
Our team was able to provide ideas and furniture layouts for three different areas in an open concept floor plan. We explored a breakfast nook and dining room. Soon we discovered that the dining room was no longer a priority, but a more polished living space was. This lounge area was the perfect place for her to invite her friends over, light a fire and enjoy a card game over a glass of wine.
In the family room, we rearranged the furniture, added curtains to soften the room and created a comfortable seating area for guests to watch the Super Bowl and hang out. This client wanted to entertain and host parties with lots of places to relax. By configuring the furniture to a more open concept arrangement, we could seat many people in one room without interrupting the flow of the space.
We sourced darker colored furniture in rich velvet fabrics to evoke a luxury design aesthetic. By keeping the walls a shade of white, the home never felt dark. We added pops of glamour with brass curtain rods and glass pendants throughout the main living areas. We spread forest green, turquoise and pops of rich, brown leather all over so that her home it felt cohesive. She finally feels like her home is complete, where she can unwind after work and be comfortable for everyone.
By choosing our Space Lift service, our client received detailed floor plans with furniture layouts, concept renderings and a personalized shopping list. She could finally see her home in the style that she couldn’t quite put into words and was able to purchase everything quickly and easily on her own.
Bellacina Kitchen & BathThis kitchen is a replacement for a builder island in conjunction with a redesign of an existing desk and replacement of the countertops, backsplash and installation of new detailed soffit. The client wanted to stay within a specific budget and not replace the existing kitchen 100%. Instead she wanted a luxury island and high end appliances to allow her to cook more productively in her space. She wanted the desk space removed as she disliked its cluttered feel and to create a larger kitchen with distinct spaces for cooking, baking, cleanup and storage. The result is a gorgeous “new” kitchen with all the amenities of a six figure kitchen without the costs.
Elmwood plywood box, square inset frame - Brighton door, Inset with 1/16” radius (almost square edged) door. Custom pieces that wrapped around one another with decorative posts were modified to maximize the look from all angles, but allow for extra storage on the cooktop side. Overall design provided optimum usage of space for storage. The new island was designed to look like a furniture case piece, and give the entire kitchen an upscale look and feel. Thanks to Elmwood’s custom abilities the client received the best of all worlds - a gigantic island that not only makes a statement, it optimizes the workspace. The clients wanted to upgrade from the 80s tract look to early California Colonial look. They wanted attention to detail, and they wanted an indoor and outdoor "living" home because they wanted to spend as much time outdoors as indoors. They also wanted to construct an open, outside cabana style living room with a classic fireplace.
The home was completely remodeled. Every room and every surface, inside and out, to some extent, got a makeover. The existing "typical" California patio was made part of the structure with a 20x20, 400 square foot cabana style addition, with 14' ceilings under a new roof system. In an effort to bring the outside in, a two-tiered pre-cast concrete fountain was installed, providing just the right touch of ambiance. A pre-cast concrete fireplace with a double corbel Mediterranean mantle was then set and surrounded with tile. The floor was set with travertine and the walls were finished with a smooth finish plaster.
To create a more formal atmosphere, the cabana patio has Mediterranean archways with fabric curtains for inclement weather. The cabana patio is divided into two separate areas, one for enjoying a meal with friends, and the other for merely sitting and enjoying the beautiful Northern California weather. Each of the areas received Mission-style chandeliers; task lighting was provided by recessed can lights. Hacienda blend cap and pan roof tiles were applied to the entire roof and then finished with a copper Conestoga chimney top. Smooth stucco was applied and painted in a Fallbrook color.

A new Thermodor gas range was installed with a custom built plaster range hood with a Vent-a-hood liner insert. This was particularly troublesome because structural members had to be modfied to accommodate the installation. New drywall was installed with an imperfect, smooth finish.

A flat screen TV was placed over the mantle with three surrounding speakers. The mantle is of hand-hewn alder, distressed, and finished with a dark glaze. The cabinetry matches that of the kitchen with Juliano upper doors, shaker lower doors with lattice inset to allow air cooling for the electronics, and a rope detail flanking either end. These were finished with a pigmented glaze. The inside fireplace mantle was constructed from a single, hand-hewn, irregular planed, 8" alder timber. The tile on the fireplace consisted of 4x8 Gamelan Border, 6x6 W.Z. Lambok, and 6x24 W.Z. Buyan in burnt umber from Walker Zanger.

Rudloff Custom BuildersWho wouldn’t want to sit in front of this fireplace? It was a honed black slate hearth, white tin surround and a reclaimed, old growth pine mantle. The wall behind it is covered in beadboard made from reclaimed timber pine.
After tearing down this home's existing addition, we set out to create a new addition with a modern farmhouse feel that still blended seamlessly with the original house. The addition includes a kitchen great room, laundry room and sitting room. Outside, we perfectly aligned the cupola on top of the roof, with the upper story windows and those with the lower windows, giving the addition a clean and crisp look. Using granite from Chester County, mica schist stone and hardy plank siding on the exterior walls helped the addition to blend in seamlessly with the original house. Inside, we customized each new space by paying close attention to the little details. Reclaimed wood for the mantle and shelving, sleek and subtle lighting under the reclaimed shelves, unique wall and floor tile, recessed outlets in the island, walnut trim on the hood, paneled appliances, and repeating materials in a symmetrical way work together to give the interior a sophisticated yet comfortable feel.

The kitchen is anchored by a large island with seating for seven and tons of storage. The island is bookended by additional components topped by walnut butcher block counters. One end serves as a table and the other end is an extra area for food prep and storage. There is also a cutting board integrated into the sink. The white quartz on the island and main kitchen counters and white subway tile backsplash give the kitchen a modern, sleek look. The bathrooms as very sleek and modern, with flat panel, high gloss cabinetry, white quartz counters, and gray porcelain tile floors. The basement features a main living area with a play area and a wet bar, an exercise room, a home theatre and a bathroom. These areas, too, are sleek and modern with gray laminate flooring, unique lighting, and a gray and white color palette that ties the area together.
