Situated on a lovely island on Lake George in the Adirondack Mountains of New York is this beautiful 1920s camp. The homeowner did an extensive renovation, including a complete kitchen remodel. The wall between the kitchen and the back hall was removed to extend the kitchen, creating a coffee/drinks bar and an updating cabinetry layout to provide better storage. To keep with the Craftsman style of the house we used a Shaker door style with a slab drawer front in Red Birch. The warm red tone of the cabinetry topped with a soft white quartz counter top creating a welcoming vibe to the heart of this family camp. Interior features such as a pegged dishware storage, tray cabinet, LeMans swing out corner cabinet shelving, utensil organizer, deep drawers for pots & pans, and spice rack drawer increased the storage capabilities as well as the functionality of this kitchen.

The upper cabinets were installed to the ceiling to maximize storage space. Interior cabinet accessories such as “blind corner rev-a-shelf organized” where included to easily access all cookware. There is now a designated servery area for coffee, drinks, additional storage. Additional pantry storage along the entire wall provides ample food storage. Increased the depth of the peninsula to add even more storage as well as countertop space for food prep. Of course, adding new decorative lighting throughout is key. New pot lights, mini pendants over the peninsula, undercabinet cabinet lighting, and a new dining fixture on dimmable switches provide many opportunities to control and create various lighting scenes. The classic white shaker style cabinets really brighten up the space. This cabinet style is perfect for those who prefer a contemporary and traditional style kitchen.

Streamline Interiors, LLC - The kitchen walkway was increased to allow for adequate space for multiple people. Drywall features were modified to update the look of this home.

The apartment is filled with light and space, the white color used as a base visually increases the space, and accent colors bring the feeling of warmth and coziness needed for every home. Everything is interesting in the project: soft shades, unobtrusive accents, contemporary shapes and invoices, where marble dominates. The laconicity of the kitchen makes it practically indistinguishable, giving the interior elegance and minimalism.

Curtis and Peggy had been thinking of a kitchen remodel for quite some time, but they knew their house would have a unique set of challenges. Their older Victorian house was built in 1891. The kitchen cabinetry was original, and they wanted to keep the authenticity of their period home while adding modern comforts that would improve their quality of life. A friend recommended Advance Design Studio for their exceptional experience and quality of work. After meeting with designer Michelle Lecinski at Advance Design, they were confident they could partner with Advance to accomplish the unique kitchen renovation they’d been talking about for years. “We wanted to do the kitchen for a long, long time,” Curtis said. “(We asked ourselves) what are we actually going to do? How are we going to do this? And who are we going to find to do exactly what we want?” The goal for the project was to keep the home renovation and new kitchen feeling authentic to the time in which it was built. They desperately wanted the modern comforts that come with a larger refrigerator and the dishwasher that they never had! The old home was also a bit drafty so adding a fireplace, wall insulation and new windows became a priority. They very much wanted to create a comfortable hearth room adjacent to the kitchen, complete with old world brick. The original cabinetry had to go to make way for beautiful new kitchen cabinetry that appears as if it was a hundred years old, but with all the benefits of cutting-edge storage, self-closing drawers, and a brand-new look. “We just wanted to keep it old looking, but with some modern updates,” Peggy said. Dura Supreme Highland Cabinets with a Heritage Old World Painted Finish replaced the original 1891 cabinets. The hand-applied careful rubbed-off detailing makes these exquisite cabinets look as if they came from a far-gone era. Despite the small size of the kitchen, Peggy, Curtis and Michelle utilized every inch with custom cabinet sizes to increase storage capacity. The custom cabinets allowed for the addition of a 24” Fisher Paykel dishwasher with a concealing Dura Supreme door panel. Michelle was also able to work into the new design a larger 30” Fisher Paykel French refrigerator. “We made every ¼ inch count in this small space,” designer Michelle said. “Having the ability to custom size the cabinetry was the only way to achieve this.” “The kitchen essentially was designed around the Heartland Vintage range and oven,” says Michelle. A classic appliance that combines nostalgic beauty and craftsmanship for modern cooking, with nickel plated trim and elegantly shaped handles and legs; the not to miss range is a striking focal point of the entire room and an engaging conversation piece. Granite countertops in Kodiak Satin with subtle veining kept with the old-world style. The delicate porcelain La Vie Crackle Sonoma tile kitchen backsplash compliments the home’s style perfectly. A handcrafted passthrough designed to show off Peggy’s fine china was custom built by project carpenters Justin Davis and Jeff Dallain to physically and visually open the space. Additional storage was created in the custom panty room with Latte Edinburg cabinets, hand-made weathered wood shelving with authentic black iron brackets, and an intricate tin copper ceiling. Peggy and Curtis loved the idea of adding a Vermont stove to make the hearth-room not only functional, but a truly beckoning place to be. A stunning Bordeaux red Vermont Castings Stove with crisp black ventilation was chosen and combined with the authentic reclaimed Chicago brick wall. Advance’s talented carpenters custom-built elegant weathered shelves to house family memorabilia, installed carefully chosen barn sconces, and made the hearth room an inviting place to relax with a cup of coffee and a good book. “Peggy and Curtis’ project was so much fun to work on. Creating a space that looks and feels like it always belonged in this beautiful old Victorian home is a designer’s dream. To see the delight in their faces when they saw the design details coming together truly made it worth the time and effort that went into making the very compact kitchen space work”, said Michelle. “The result is an amazing custom kitchen, packed with functionality in every inch, nook and cranny!” exclaims Michelle. The renovation didn’t end with the kitchen. New Pella windows were added to help lessen the drafts. The removal of the original windows and trim necessitated the re-creation of hand-made corbels and trim details no longer available today. The talented carpenter team came to the rescue, crafting new pieces and masterfully finishing them as if they were always there. New custom gutters were formed and installed with a front entry rework necessary to accommodate the changes. The whole house functions better, but it still feels like the original 1891 home. “From start to finish it’s just a much better space than we used to have,” Peggy said. “Jeff and Justin were amazing.” Curtis added; “We were lucky to find Advance Design, because they really came through for us. I loved that they had everything in house, anything you needed to have done, they could do it”.

This Ethan Allen gray leather Hyde sofa is the perfect piece for placement in front of the windows. The top grain leather will not stain or fade. Many other leather color options are available. To create a larger looking space, I added the mirrored chest- not only to visually increase space, but for additional storage. The round coffee table is perfect to highlight the beautiful cream rug and the sphere gives a nice alternative to square corners. The use of metal also provides another unique feature in the room. We did not want to over power the room with a large entertainment center. Instead we selected a stand rather than a unit and kept the wood finish light.

Woodland Construction Group has masterfully transformed a 1962 split-level ranch home on the west side of Portland. This complete whole home renovation has breathed new life into the home while respecting its timeless charm. The kitchen remodel was a focal point, with its size significantly increased and fully custom cabinetry, Cortez countertops, and a large island. The addition of a wine bar and coffee bar, along with an expanded entertaining area, have made this once small kitchen into a functional mid-size kitchen and the favorite gathering spot. The addition of black Marvin 12-foot sliding glass doors invites an abundance of natural light, creating a bright and welcoming ambiance. New French White Oak hardwood flooring adds a touch of luxury and chic. The bathrooms were also completely remodeled, featuring modern fixtures and luxurious finishes yet preserving their classic style. This whole home renovation by Woodland Construction Group is more than a remodeling project; it's a testament to how a thoughtful new design and layout can transform a dated space into a vibrant, modern home without losing its original charm.

Without increasing the footprint, a doorway was closed and windows added to dramatically improve the appearance, flow and functionality of the space. The original kitchen had only 5 cabinets in the space and a small island.

We were able to keep the traditional roots of this cabin while also offering it a major update. By accentuating its untraditional floor plan with a mix of modern furnishings, we increased the home's functionality and created an exciting but trendy aesthetic. A back-to-back sofa arrangement used the space better, and custom wool rugs are durable and beautiful. It’s a traditional design that looks decades younger. Farmhouse style kitchen remodel. Our clients wanted to do a total refresh of their kitchen. We incorporated a warm toned vinyl flooring (Nuvelle Density Rigid Core in Honey Pecan"), two toned cabinets in a beautiful blue gray and cream (Diamond cabinets) granite countertops and a gorgeous gas range (GE Cafe Pro range). By overhauling the laundry and pantry area we were able to give them a lot more storage. We reorganized a lot of the kitchen creating a better flow specifically giving them a coffee bar station, cutting board station, and a new microwave drawer and wine fridge. Increasing the gas stove to 36" allowed the avid chef owner to cook without restrictions making his daily life easier. One of our favorite sayings is "I love it" and we are able to say thankfully we heard it a lot.

From dark and dreary to light and bright! ? These clients loved the custom home that they built almost a decade ago but were growing tired of their interior and wanted to make a change. Their vision was to lighten, brighten and modernize the finishes and designs in the home they had originally built, so they turned to the OakWood Team for expert advice. There are a lot of things we love about this updated kitchen design, but one of our favourite details has to be the island countertop which features a combination of quartz and a custom end grain black walnut butcherblock. End-grain construction is made from small rectangular blocks arranged so that the ends (with growth rings showing) are visible on the surface. The strongest and most expensive type of butcher block, it’s great for surfaces dedicated to cutting, because it camouflages knife marks and is gentle on blade edges (they slide into the grain rather than against it). Another goal for this space was to create a more open concept plan. There are no barriers between the eating area, kitchen, and living room, allowing for better communication, ease of movement, and increased lighting. This idea of transparency is also seen in the open shelving and the glass cabinetry uppers. Although very subtle, these glass details help complement the look and feel of this space. The end result is a completely redesigned space that any homeowner would be proud of.

When approached by the client for this particular project, their primary goal was a comprehensive kitchen remodel that also involved transforming an underused closet into a hidden walk-in pantry. Recognizing the potential of this space adjacent to the kitchen, we aimed to seamlessly integrate it into the overall design, offering practical storage solutions and enhancing functionality. The addition of a walk-in pantry not only addressed the need for increased storage but also allowed us to declutter the main kitchen area. Items such as the microwave, beverage fridge, coffee maker, and various baked goods found a designated place, optimizing the kitchen's efficiency and organization.

Every now then a project comes along which perfectly encapsulates the feeling of traditional design with a modern twist, the result of which is a real feel of the here and now. The gorgeous tones of this natural oak orangery are perfectly offset by the contemporary grey painted, timber bi-fold doors and windows. This has created a wonderfully light and airy living area, with ample space for the demands of our now increasingly busy lifestyles. The island or bar area, with the stylish bar stools shown in the photos above, is an ideal spot for a morning coffee.

In an older home in Great Neck, we opened up a wall between the small kitchen and a storage room and eliminated a powder room to enlarge the kitchen/dining concept. To enlarge the kitchen and allow backyard views, we flipped the kitchen to the back of the house, found a space to move the powder room and eliminated the small room. The client chose an Italian industrial look cement textured door style. We brightened the look with high gloss white upper cabinets. Two new attractive large windows let in natural light and gave them views of their yard. They wanted a quartz counter that looked like marble. Since quartz doesn’t offer this style, we chose a marble look porcelain which is stunning! Additional cabinetry, pantry and island increased their storage. Two sinks and additional counter space made it functional for two. The work flow of the kitchen was easy and open. All materials are easy to clean. The eat-in kitchen maximized the dining away ambiance. To satisfy their culinary desires, we added a spice drawer and cabinet. The coffee bar has a drawer for easy access. The island faucet includes sparkling water. Since they love grilled food all year round, we recommended a range top with a grill and high-powered vented hood. The full-size wine fridge makes it easy to store wine conveniently. The built-in steam oven allowed them to cook small meals with high efficiency.
