This tiny home has a very unique and spacious bathroom with an indoor shower that feels like an outdoor shower. The triangular cut mango slab with the vessel sink conserves space while looking sleek and elegant, and the shower has not been stuck in a corner but instead is constructed as a whole new corner to the room! Yes, this bathroom has five right angles. Sunlight from the sunroof above fills the whole room. A curved glass shower door, as well as a frosted glass bathroom door, allows natural light to pass from one room to another. Ferns grow happily in the moisture and light from the shower. This contemporary, costal Tiny Home features a bathroom with a shower built out over the tongue of the trailer it sits on saving space and creating space in the bathroom. This shower has it's own clear roofing giving the shower a skylight. This allows tons of light to shine in on the beautiful blue tiles that shape this corner shower. Stainless steel planters hold ferns giving the shower an outdoor feel. With sunlight, plants, and a rain shower head above the shower, it is just like an outdoor shower only with more convenience and privacy. The curved glass shower door gives the whole tiny home bathroom a bigger feel while letting light shine through to the rest of the bathroom. The blue tile shower has niches; built-in shower shelves to save space making your shower experience even better. The frosted glass pocket door also allows light to shine through.

This project reimagines an under-used back yard in Portland, Oregon, creating an urban garden with an adjacent writer’s studio. Taking inspiration from Japanese precedents, we conceived of a paving scheme with planters, a cedar soaking tub, a fire pit, and a seven-foot-tall cedar fence. A maple tree forms the focal point and will grow to shade the yard. Board-formed concrete planters house conifers, maples and moss, appropriate to the Pacific Northwest climate. photos by Pedro Marti The owner’s of this apartment had been living in this large working artist’s loft in Tribeca since the 70’s when they occupied the vacated space that had previously been a factory warehouse. Since then the space had been adapted for the husband and wife, both artists, to house their studios as well as living quarters for their growing family. The private areas were previously separated from the studio with a series of custom partition walls. Now that their children had grown and left home they were interested in making some changes. The major change was to take over spaces that were the children’s bedrooms and incorporate them in a new larger open living/kitchen space. The previously enclosed kitchen was enlarged creating a long eat-in counter at the now opened wall that had divided off the living room. The kitchen cabinetry capitalizes on the full height of the space with extra storage at the tops for seldom used items. The overall industrial feel of the loft emphasized by the exposed electrical and plumbing that run below the concrete ceilings was supplemented by a grid of new ceiling fans and industrial spotlights. Antique bubble glass, vintage refrigerator hinges and latches were chosen to accent simple shaker panels on the new kitchen cabinetry, including on the integrated appliances. A unique red industrial wheel faucet was selected to go with the integral black granite farm sink. The white subway tile that pre-existed in the kitchen was continued throughout the enlarged area, previously terminating 5 feet off the ground, it was expanded in a contrasting herringbone pattern to the full 12 foot height of the ceilings. This same tile motif was also used within the updated bathroom on top of a concrete-like porcelain floor tile. The bathroom also features a large white porcelain laundry sink with industrial fittings and a vintage stainless steel medicine display cabinet. Similar vintage stainless steel cabinets are also used in the studio spaces for storage. And finally black iron plumbing pipe and fittings were used in the newly outfitted closets to create hanging storage and shelving to complement the overall industrial feel. Pedro Marti

Riverwash stones and small boulders were used to line a dry streambed through the garden. The streambed provides an attractive way for water to flow through the property. Stepping stones and step boulder were placed to make it inviting to explore the garden. This garden was photographed immediately after installation and shows how an immediate softening of the neighbor's homes is created. Large size Cryptomeria, Green Giant Arborvitae, and Little Gem Magnolia create a wonderfully textured, fast growing green screen. Behind the fountain, the property line is very close and narrow Emerald Green Arborvitae are used to create a green screen in this spot.

This is an urban single family home situated on a narrow lot that is about 1/8 of an acre and is only 2 blocks from the Pacific Ocean. I designed a completely new garden and installed everything along with the client’s help. The garden I designed consisted of an ornamental grass garden, a xeriscape garden with decomposed granite mounds, fruit trees and shrubs located throughout, a jungle forest garden, and raised brick vegetable beds in the rear. Previously, there was a wood deck covering almost the entire property that was removed by the owner. We installed root guard around all of the walkways. I installed the raised brick vegetable beds and walkways around the vegetable beds. Many of the plants were chosen to provide food and habitat for pollinators as well. Our customers at Tally Ho have used us on several projects throughout their home. At different times we've renovated a powder room, laundry/mudroom space, master bath, walk-in closet, and most recently a guest bath, fireplace/trim work, and back deck. Newlyweds had just moved into their new home and immediately wanted to update their kitchen which is located in the center of the household, lacking any natural light source of its own. To make matters worse, the cabinets in place were dark red with black countertops. Not the picture of brightness they were looking for. To increase the amount of light reflected throughout the kitchen, we incorporated some of the following updates: 1. Replaced the solo ceiling light with 4 recessed cans 2. Updated the florescent undercabinet lights with new LED strips 3. Installed custom white cabinets topped with Silestone’s new Artic Ocean white countertops 4. Updated the dark glass pendants over the bar with larger, clear glass pendants that spoke more to the history of the home 5. Painted the walls a soft gray to compliment the palette The original kitchen layout was updated to eliminate the existing soffits and open the visual feel of the space. A large white farm sink now centers the natural wood bar area, inviting guests to sit and gather for ballgames and celebrations. Completed in 2017, this project features midcentury modern interiors with copper, geometric, and moody accents. The design was driven by the client's attraction to a grey, copper, brass, and navy palette, which is featured in three different wallpapers throughout the home. As such, the townhouse incorporates the homeowner's love of angular lines, copper, and marble finishes. The builder-specified kitchen underwent a makeover to incorporate copper lighting fixtures, reclaimed wood island, and modern hardware. In the master bedroom, the wallpaper behind the bed achieves a moody and masculine atmosphere in this elegant "boutique-hotel-like" room. The children's room is a combination of midcentury modern furniture with repetitive robot motifs that the entire family loves. Like in children's space, our goal was to make the home both fun, modern, and timeless for the family to grow into. This project has been featured in Austin Home Magazine, Resource 2018 Issue.

It’s first impression was memorable as immediately after entering the front door, just past the dining table, there was a tree growing in the middle of home! Upon further inspection of the space it became apparent that this home had undergone several alterations during its lifetime... Additional details like the geometric wall paper in the foyer, the vintage light fixture in the living room, and the bold drapery help to tie everything together to create a cohesive mid-century modern feel throughout the entire home.
