Asian style SkyGarden™ evocative of a hanging 'courtyard' overlooking the city with the splendour of University Avenue in the background. 'Floating' sandstone decking on chassis for air and water circulation and flow to the edge of the balcony. Stone lantern illuminated with LED light; mounding and globe boxwood of various sizes in a pea gravel panel matrix with illuminated bamboo poles in the corner make for a calming feeling inside and out by day and night. Low voltage MP Lighting along the perimeter of the space adds drama at night and eliminates the 'black box' syndrome that many condo owners experience with bare, bleak balconies. The informal geometry of the decking with the path around the lantern make is beautiful and thought provoking every time you look out from the living room and dining area. Our homeowners were looking for a garden where they could sit by the fire, grow vegetable and hear the sound of water. Their home was new construction in a modern farmhouse style. We used gravel and concrete as paving. Board formed concrete firepit keeps it feeling modern. The vegetable beds supply season vegetables and herbs.

We added a beautiful naturalistic pool, landscaping, travertine paving, outdoor shower, custom porch and deck. Low maintenance landscaping, and planted bamboo in a secure 60 mil EPDM containment trench to give the clients privacy. One of our other challenges was to solve the storm water runoff, which we handled with and underground drain system. The outdoor raised firepit is a nice addition for for sitting around those cool nights. To complete our project was the outdoor lighting design which highlights all of the awesome focal points.

Our homeowners wanted a garden with a natural feel. We added concrete steppers with dymondia groundcover for a new pathway to the backyard. Low water plantings with a natural feel bring hummingbirds. Drip irrigation and permeable paving. The nasturtiums are from seeds planted by the owner, the leaves are edible. Vegetable beds and fruit trees in the backyard provide a bountiful harvest.

Our goal with all of these designs was to creatively exceed customers expectations while reducing water usage, keeping costs down and delivering a beautiful garden that would stand the test of time. Wherever possible our hardscape elements are permeable, and existing healthy plantings and trees remain. All of our landscape designs focus on bringing seasonal color, texture and scent to your garden spaces.

The patio off of the garage is covered with a slide wire awning that provides shade in the summer and sun in the winter. An outdoor room hosts dining and leisure and extends the living space of the home. The patio is paved with concrete permeable pavers which allows proper drainage on this small lot.
