After interviewing several folks for our backyard project, everything clicked when we met with Ronni. Our goal was to completely transform our backyard from a small piece of grass and mostly “dead space” of brush to an entire backyard we could actually use. From meeting with her at the very beginning during the design phase, Ronni was attentive to everything we wanted, putting care and detail into her design, changing things as needed to all the way through to the end of the project. Her crew was respectful of our property and in-tune with her vision for our backyard. She was patient and un-phased by any challenge, and delivered the project ahead of schedule. My husband and I are overjoyed with the results, which included 3 bluestone pathways, a boulder firepit, landscaping and lighting. We use our backyard all the time now. How lucky to find Ronni Hock on Houzz for a very demanding project! Our newly constructed glass walled modern cottage was surrounded by depressing piles of mud obscuring former parklike views. Ronni was unfazed by its many challenges: land with a high water table and drainage issues, a ravenous deer population, an unsightly pool storage area and fence, and an aesthetic compliment to an adjacent antique farm house. Her experienced professionalism was evident in several meetings to discuss general design concepts and goals. RHGL/Ronni did a total renovation on our front yard/porch. Last evening after everyone left, we walked around the property and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. Phase II - 2018 The second phase of our project, as described below, was completed in the late fall. Ronni and her team meticulously executed a new, expansive patio, with beautiful large scale stepping stones leading to a firepit area and a newly-built pool house and greenhouse. A new entrance to the backyard from the side of the house leads down a walkway and through a pergola, making for an elegant entrance into the lower patio, which then steps up to the pool deck, complete with stone retention walls and new landscaping and plantings framing the surroundings. Ronni carefully selected several feature trees, as well as garden accessories, to be lit at night, creating a dramatic and lovely night scape. Her attention to detail, commitment to the quality of her work, and professionalism is unparalleled. She stands behind everything she puts in, and has treated our project as if it were being carried out in her own home. I thoroughly recommend Ronni. We couldn't be more pleased with the stunning transformation of our yard under her creative vision and detailed care. Phase I - 2018 I have admired Ronni's work in local landscape settings throughout the years, so we asked her to be in charge of our large-scale yard project. It is a multi-phase project, which includes improvements to our front entrance and the building of a gated brick wall leading to our backyard (Phase I), as well as an extensive re-design of our backyard in conjunction with the installation of our new pool and pool house, which will include hardscaping of a new patio and pool deck, fire pit area, pergola, kitchen garden, green house and extensive new plantings throughout (Phase II). We've just completed the first phase, and thus far, my expectations have been exceeded...Ronni is the consummate professional, as is her tremendously skilled team. She is extremely detail- oriented, and presents a clear picture of her design goals, the timeline that will be involved and the budget. She has had to work in coordination with our contractor, architect, and pool designer, and she is the ultimate team player. We are doing a phased landscaping project that includes hardscaping/patio, stone wall, stone fire pit, pergola and various plantings. The design Ronni put together is stunning, and she helped manage most of the project for us and brought in a great pergola builder. She is pleasant, professional and responsive. Her pricing is on the higher end but it is worth it. She will be back in the spring to complete the plantings and fire pit and we are very excited!

Ronni and her team renovated the foundation area in front of my home. From the initial meeting to the final installation the process was seamless. The selection of plants ensured four season interest and the flowers were in bloom throughout the growing season. Some shrubs changed from green to flowering and then vibrant seasonal colors in the fall. I requested a few large boulders to be placed in the landscaping and the result was perfectly balanced. I received numerous complements from friends and family.

We had a great experience with Ronni on a backyard project (adding a path, stone wall and stairs to the existing patio, as well as a considerable number of plantings). After our initial meeting she came up with a plan that I liked a lot, and her team got started soon after that. I made a few requests (such as keeping a particular dwarf tree in place), which she cheerfully accommodated and worked around. I had a deadline -- a party we were hosting -- that we discussed at the outset, and her team finished more than a week before the party, which pleased me. We contacted Ronni to come up with a design for an awkward portion of our side yard. Ronni designed a fire pit with surrounding plantings that connected this part of our yard to the back yard. We were very satisfied with the work and the professionalism of the staff completing the work. We've had dozens of contractors her over the years and most seem to be in a hurry to get the job done. Ronni's and her staff took there time to make sure the design was completed in accordance with renderings and they did a great job cleaning up after the project was complete. This portion of our yard is now useable space and we will be enjoying the firepit and surrounding area for years to come. We will be definitely be using Ronni for future landscaping projects.

In the summer of 2014, we asked Ronni to design a complete rennovation of our property with new walkway, lighting, and landscaping. We could not afford to do everything at once and she was very helpful to draw up a plan with different parts of the project so that we could get immediate improvements in our front approach to the home. By working with us on our goals she found ways to add more color and variety to our plantings while keeping some of the old trees and shrubs - the yard received a much needed makeover without going over our budget. We were so happy with the work that we had her come out Spring 2015 to finish her design with more hardscaping and landscaping in the backyard - she replaced an old concrete ledge with a beautiful stone patio and added a boulder stair-case that adds a nice accent to our sloping yard while keeping natural look to blend in with the tree-line and stream in back. She built a lovely small vegetable garden for us on the side of hill with stone holding wall and swinging gate. For all of our tree selections, she patiently helped me select the varieties that would work best for our yard and my preferences. I highly recommend Ronni for her personalized approach, incredible knowledge about plants, and her professional crew of workers.

The project plan included replacing & renovating deteriorating walks & stonework and a complete landscaping makeover for an old historic stone house. Ronni has completely transformed my yard. I have a very difficult site, dry, shady and poor soil. This project was to revamp the beds around the swimming pool and provide a screen from the neighbors. What was a sad dry mish mash of struggling plants is now a lush green garden that looks completely natural, as if it had been here for many years. Ronni worked directly with the irrigation company to design and install a system specific to the plants she had chosen. Her crew amended the soil and carefully planted each plant where Ronni herself had placed it. As a result everything that was planted is thriving. The backyard is now an oasis of large ferns and hostas interspersed with flowering shrubs. Tall hemlocks block the view of the neighbors and evergreen ground covers are quickly spreading to cover the previously bare ground in the dense shade. Tall pots of bright flowers, watered by an ingenious hidden system, add color to the patio. All the various components flow seamlessly to create a calm soothing whole. I recommend Ronni without reservation. I have been happy with her work every step of the way.

In the fall of 2012 Ronni designed and installed two patios and some fairly extensive plantings at our modest Princeton home. Every stage of the project was a pleasure. Ronni worked closely with us and understood our goals, our taste, and our budget. She managed the project personally and replied to e-mailed questions almost instantaneously.
