The layout of the Weston backyard is both functional and inviting. We wanted to work with the Westons to make the most of their backyard space. We decided to construct a Large Square L Shaped Inground in the back right corner of the yard in order to make room for the Covered Patio Area and additional patio space. The Westons, and their guests, will enjoy splashing around in the bright blue, Canyon Full Print Vinyl lined pool. This print reflects a rich blue colour at all hours of the day and is truly unmatched by competitors.
The added bonus of a covered patio allows the Weston family to remain outdoors in rain or shine. The intricate stone patio flooring adds a sleek, yet textured, look to this built-for-entertainment backyard. The Weston backyard is definitely where we want to be on Canada Day!

When the Gimbels department store chain closed in 1986, many of its selling floors were converted into luxury apartments, including those of this branch at 86th Street and Lexington Avenue. The retailer’s soaring ceilings allowed Axis Mundi to create bedroom mezzanine spaces overlooking the living and dining rooms. Defining them with translucent glass welcomed natural light while retaining privacy. Downstairs, spaces bleed one into another, their basic monochromatic black-and-white palette acting as a unifying leitmotif. Yet each space feels distinct, with its own programmatic purpose, a feat largely achieved by varying floor and wall treatments—a graphic tile pattern in the entry, a red wall in the hall leading to the master suite, a colorful area rug in the living room. In the retailer’s heyday, the then-common saying, “Would Macy’s tell Gimbels?” implied the strategies the competitors kept from each other to gain the upper hand. Here, a structure iconic in its day also conceals something: a handsome, wholly contemporary repurposing that represents just the sort of innovation that made Gimbels the celebrated name that it was.

Smyth Apartments, formerly known as Woodbury, was built in 2009 on a park-like, 6.36-acre parcel. A gated entry leads to a 127-unit community that includes a large clubhouse, fitness center, heated pool and spa, dog park, pet-washing station, outdoor basketball court, and playground. Residents also have access to secure package lockers and a small business center inside the clubhouse.
Smyth has received an abundance of preventive maintenance over the years, but its common areas and unit interiors are outdated. TMR completed a comprehensive $2,335,000 renovation and rebranding of this community. Upon completion of these upgrades, TMR believes that Smyth Apartments will be a formidable competitor in the Olympia market.
