The wine cellar is comprised of our kit and custom wine racking. This wine room holds 3,500 bottles of wine and is doubles as a wine tasting area for entertaining guests. Our bin shelves are used for wine display case storage on either side of the room. The cabinets are stained in our Shaker Maple finish with lacquer and accented with a light, cream stone flooring, decorative lighting and artwork.

Separating the two spaces is a striking 18-foot-wide pocketing sliding door with a screen; when this door is open, the flow becomes seamless towards the reimagined outdoor living and new pool, inviting you to savor the indulgent pleasures of resort-style living within the sanctuary of a private retreat. This modern New York home renovation sought to incorporate an appreciation for natural light and the outdoors while considering the limitations of east coast weather. Through collaboration with an architect we reimagined the interior space, added a second floor, and finished the space with textural materials to convey an elegant ease and livable luxury. Throughout the interiors we created an eclectic environment comprised of collected art, textiles, and furniture to provide a rich and layered warmth to this unique space.

This garden comprises a complex layering of textures and subtle coloring. Also many of the plantings were designed to attract wildlife and the overall design was one of elegance, with a combination of naturalistic and formal plantings. Special attention was paid in the site planning and garden design to the water wise design of this landscape. The brick is unmortared with a sand base to ensure the return of valuable water to the soil and plantings. Plantings are arranged according to water needs, good soil preparation was paramount, plantings are irrigated by drip system and a good covering of wood mulch was used.

This basketball court is part of a project completed by Gary Duff Designs which secured and strengthened this home’s existing old-world charm. By building on the original color palette comprised of beautiful reds and browns, the team incorporated natural stones to enhance the look. The renovated walkway can now be summed up in one word: classic. The new and beautiful courtyard was completed by a flowing fountain as the focal point. Fun finishing touch: a basketball half-court with the same beige coloring, because even the most elegant backdrops deserve some whimsy.

A visual artist and his fiancée’s house and studio were designed with various themes in mind, such as the physical context, client needs, security, and a limited budget. Six options were analyzed during the schematic design stage to control the wind from the northeast, sunlight, light quality, cost, energy, and specific operating expenses. By using design performance tools and technologies such as Fluid Dynamics, Energy Consumption Analysis, Material Life Cycle Assessment, and Climate Analysis, sustainable strategies were identified. The building is self-sufficient and will provide the site with an aquifer recharge that does not currently exist. The main masses are distributed around a courtyard, creating a moderately open construction towards the interior and closed to the outside. The courtyard contains a Huizache tree, surrounded by a water mirror that refreshes and forms a central part of the courtyard. The house comprises three main volumes, each oriented at different angles to highlight different views for each area. The patio is the primary circulation stratagem, providing a refuge from the wind, a connection to the sky, and a night sky observatory. We aim to establish a deep relationship with the site by including the open space of the patio.

This couple is comprised of a famous vegan chef and a leader in the Plant based community. Part of the joy of the spacious yard, was to plant an Entirely edible landscape. These glorious spaces, family room and garden, is where the couple also Entertains and relaxes.

Battle Architects was hired to be the architect for a large vacation compound on Tips Cove, Lake Winnipesaukee. In our early discussions with the clients, their mantra to us was that they wanted to “love every inch.” From this beginning, Battle Architects worked closely with the clients and team carefully developing and coordinating every detail inside and out. The compound consists of a caretaker’s house and separate garage, utility garage, boathouse, and the main home. The main home was oriented and designed to enjoy the beauty of Lake Winnipesaukee. The exterior details were developed with a rustic tone which the clients loved, and the interior spaces were designed to accommodate large family gatherings and create great memories. The second floor has “pods” of bedrooms and bathrooms for each sibling’s family privacy with a couple of common areas for smaller gatherings. There is a private master suite, located on the first floor, with its own screened porch offering a gorgeous view of the lake. There is an easy flow through the kitchen, great room, and large screened porch accommodating large gatherings. The basement is a series of entertainment spaces – an exercise room, movie theater, bowling alley, game area, and bar area for the rainy days and warm nights where the family can gather and enjoy their time together. Big picture interior details were designed with a rustic feel inspired by projects such as Lake Placid Lodge. There were opportunities to create unique spaces such as the bowling alley which incorporates details inspired by Fenway Park. The exterior material palette is comprised of river rock, skirl siding, red cedar shingles, Douglas fir timber frame, and natural and painted trim. The interior material palette offers warmth and comfort with butternut, oak, hickory, and birch bark on the first floor; cherry, Douglas fir, and mahogany on the second floor; and oak, mahogany, alder, Douglas fir, and English walnut for the basement. Exterior details were developed with energy conservation in mind and acoustic details were developed throughout the home for privacy. Millwork and cabinetry were developed with a mill shop and artisan cabinetry and mantels were added as highlights in the home.

This dramatic remodel reinvigorated mid-century modern with an updated contemporary vibe after earlier updates had traditionalized the home. Completed in 2022, a significant reorganization of the space removed an existing fireplace and reallocated a living room to create a centrally located open-concept Kitchen and Dining Room. Dominating the kitchen is the spectacular emerald-toned glass cabinetry. Vivid and rich, the matte glass provides a depth and softness unmatched by painted cabinetry. Natural quartzite slabs wrap the waterfalled island and backsplashes, the unique graining provides interest without competing against the bold cabinetry. The home’s unique butterfly floorplan is reflected in the various angles incorporated into the architectural elements of the island, new walls and directing paths through offset openings. A series of interconnected beams, soffits, and columns impose spatial order and break the space into digestible visual components. The gas range is incorporated into a niche that contains a generous backbar, full-height backsplash and integrated spice storage. The island features brass inlays at slab breaks and a contrasting granite backchannel with an inconspicuous ‘scrubby-dubby cubby’ at one end for concealing cleaning supplies. The knee space is clad in the white oak planks of the floor, aligned and turned vertically as if folded. A distinctive black stained buffet with touch latch drawers is comprised of strips of cherry repurposed from paneling found in den. Matching woodwork is incorporated into the Foyer and wraps the Fireplace.
