When I first met Chris, she walked me through her lovely home frustrated by the task at hand and the unfinished, uncohesive, disjointed spaces. Everything was beige, spread about in odd configurations and lacked any personality. "Chris" a pretty blue eyed blonde, was nowhere present. I liked the lined of the furniture and after discussing Chrus favorite colors needs and wants, we decided to reupholster the formerly "all beige" furniture in bluer and whites and add drapes to coordinate. As with many families, wear and tear is a concern. Chris with three kids a hubby and Doodle name Maddie, was no exception. We chose fabrics that looked pretty, had a soft hand but would stand up to Kool Aid and muddy paws. The blue and white area rug, is polypropylene and relatively indestructible, yet soft to the touch. We rearranged the furniture, opening up the space to the adjoining Dining room for flow and added Full length drapery to the exhiisting shutters for warmth and charm. As you can see, the end result is a cheerful, playful mix of color and texture.

The goal was to create a warm space that flowed from the abutting master bedroom. The rest of the house has a down-to-earth sophistication that combines antiques, rich textures with a botanical theme. The master bedroom has a lush tapestry bedspread full of different leaves randomly scattered across the fabric. This became the inspiration for the bath. Taking a random fern as a motif, I initially found gorgeous wallpaper with the ferns against a rich chocolate background. Concerned with durability in certain areas of the bathroom, I shifted the approach to be a custom wall finish still using the deep chocolate background in a matte finish and adding hand-painted coppery bronze ferns randomly across the surface.
The homeowners wanted a vanity that incorporated a make-up area for her and plenty of counter space for both. In order to keep the wainscoting lines in check, the vanity section maintained the same counter height as the rest of the vanity therefore a custom height was required for the vanity stool. The wainscoting was kept relatively simple so as to find matching flexible moldings for the tub face.
The ivory trim color contrasts nicely with the browns. The cabinet finish was selected to bring out the coppery-bronze topped with complimenting granite. Kohler’s Vibrant Brushed Bronze finish lent itself perfectly to the palette. The rich brown colors are offset nicely with ivory tiles which are accented with bronze and Sonoma Tilemaker’s Tantrum glass tiles.

- A vaulted planked ceiling above a custom-made campaign style bed upholstered in a luxe silver blue velvet, crisp white coverlet and embellished pillows in various textures and patterns.
- Tall, sleek white arm chairs flank a gorgeous
antique Belgium armoire.
- A quirky, cow-hide vintage settee will add a little whimsy to the sophisticated space.
- Oversized, heavily-antiqued mirrors reflect the gorgeous, hand-blown glass chandelier.

"Kerry Taylor was professional and courteous from our first meeting forwards. We took a long time to decide on our final design but Kerry and his design team were patient and respectful and waited until we were ready to move forward. There was never a sense of being pushed into anything we didn’t like. They listened, carefully considered our requests and delivered an awesome plan for our new bathroom. Kerry also broke down everything so that we could consider several alternatives for features and finishes and was mindful to stay within our budget. He accommodated some on-the-fly changes, after construction was underway and suggested effective solutions for any unforeseen problems that arose.
Having construction done in close proximity to our master bedroom was a challenge but the excellent crew TaylorPro had on our job made it relatively painless: courteous and polite, arrived on time daily, worked hard, pretty much nonstop and cleaned up every day before leaving. If there were any delays, Kerry made sure to communicate with us quickly and was always available to talk when we had concerns or questions."
This Carlsbad couple yearned for a generous master bath that included a big soaking tub, double vanity, water closet, large walk-in shower, and walk in closet. Unfortunately, their current master bathroom was only 6'x12'.
Our design team went to work and came up with a solution to push the back wall into an unused 2nd floor vaulted space in the garage, and further expand the new master bath footprint into two existing closet areas. These inventive expansions made it possible for their luxurious master bath dreams to come true.
Just goes to show that, with TaylorPro Design & Remodeling, fitting a square peg in a round hole could be possible!
