Conceptually the Clark Street remodel began with an idea of creating a new entry. The existing home foyer was non-existent and cramped with the back of the stair abutting the front door. By defining an exterior point of entry and creating a radius interior stair, the home instantly opens up and becomes more inviting. From there, further connections to the exterior were made through large sliding doors and a redesigned exterior deck. SDH Studio - Architecture and Design Location: Golden Beach, Florida, USA Overlooking the canal in Golden Beach 96 GB was designed around a 27 foot triple height space that would be the heart of this home. With an emphasis on the natural scenery, the interior architecture of the house opens up towards the water and fills the space with natural light and greenery.

The home shelters the owners and both sets of their parents on three levels. A central atrium open to all three stories connects and combines entries from north and south, circulation space, and a twenty-foot-high climbing wall. The upper floor takes advantage of views, the middle level connects to the rear yard, landscaping, and a storm water mitigating rain garden, allowing private outdoor access and terraces for the older generation using the home.

This project is new construction. The client downsized from a large home in Leawood KS. For their new home they requested a neutral palette for all their furnishing and furniture that was comfortable, worked well with dogs and grandchildren. It was important that the style of the home and the furnishings not be to trendy but be classic in styling and age well with time. This home reflects many different layers of interesting material selections, including the mirrored back splash in the Kitchen and the marble accents in the bathroom, stunning high end furniture, fabrics, area rugs and drapery. The clients love their new home as do their 2 cockier spaniel pups!

This master bedroom went from beautiful to luxurious, winning the Heartland Design Award for ASID (American Society for Interior Designers) GOLD Award. Since we built this home in 2005, the master bedroom has undergone quite a transformation. Our clients loved the taupe wall color but wanted a change from the white trim and accents. Our talented faux painter worked his magic by darkening up the trim and giving the ceiling a rich, reflective color. Design Connection, Inc. This beautiful Arts and Crafts style home was built in 2008. The clients decided to move their existing furniture from their old home. The furniture was uncomfortable and the family found themselves gathering in the master bedroom with mom and dad. After years of using their master bedroom as the family’s central gathering place, the parents wanted to reclaim their master suite. New furniture and a large TV was needed to rejuvenate this family room; Arlene Ladegaard of Design Connection, Inc., was chosen for her classic styles and soothing fabrics and finishes. After creating a space plan, comfortable furniture was selected with warm, long-wearing fabrics. A soft, wool area rug set the colors and style for this large space. Accented with large nail heads, two swivel chairs in rich, brown, high quality leather provides additional seating with style. The large sectional was clothed in a soft, neutral-colored high-performance fabric that will stand the test of time. The large fabric ottoman was a new look for the clients and the size was perfect for their space. Linen window treatments in a sheer fabric softened the space and added balance and harmony. Design Connection Inc. interior Design Kansas City provided furniture layout and space planning, furniture and upholstery selections and window treatments.
