Inspiration for a rustic two-story wood gable roof remodel in Minneapolis

As Arlene Ladegaard of Design Connection, Inc. commenced work in other areas of the client’s house, the homeowner began to see the transitions and grow more aware of design trends, and decided to add his master bathroom to the scope of the project. In the master shower, 4 “x 18” tiles are used vertically, and a niche was fabricated using marble tile with chrome accents. The entrance to the shower has a zero clearance entry for easy access, while the Euro glass enclosure give the bathroom a high end edge. Design Connection Inc. provided for this project: space plans, elevations, tile, lighting, material selections, wallpaper, liaison with the contractor, and project management.

Kitchen remodel - Open Concept New flooring, cabinets and layout. The kitchen and living area was difficult to connect because of the juxtaposition of the two. We were able to open up a wall to create that connection, remove the existing hall that connected the outdoors, relocated the laundry and created a peninsula to capture conversation. We were also able to create a powder bath from the space.

With the bright North Carolina sun shining down on the Adamsleigh Estate in Greensboro, designer Bradshaw Orrell embraced the opportunity to create an inspired outdoor living area as part of the Junior League of Greensboro’s Traditional Home Showhouse. The designer started with a neutral palette that picks up the grays and browns in the property’s flagstones. To connect the adjoining spaces, he sought inspiration from the sunroom’s painting and carried the accent color outside with throw pillows in Meridian Frost and Canvas Aruba. In an inspired twist, the designer turned an existing awning frame into a stunning architectural element by covering it with Sunbrella Oyster with contrast edging in Tuscan. The light colored awning blocks ultraviolet radiation while keeping the shaded area bright. And, the hot orange trim is a perfect foil to the cool blues below.

Inspiration for a mid-sized transitional formal and enclosed medium tone wood floor living room remodel in Montreal with gray walls and no fireplace

This project was featured in Midwest Home magazine as the winner of ASID Life in Color. The addition of a kitchen with custom shaker-style cabinetry and a large shiplap island is perfect for entertaining and hosting events for family and friends. Quartz counters that mimic the look of marble were chosen for their durability and ease of maintenance. Open shelving with brass sconces above the sink create a focal point for the large open space. Putting a modern spin on the traditional nautical/coastal theme was a goal. We took the quintessential palette of navy and white and added pops of green, stylish patterns, and unexpected artwork to create a fresh bright space. Grasscloth on the back of the built in bookshelves and console table along with rattan and the bentwood side table add warm texture. Finishes and furnishings were selected with a practicality to fit their lifestyle and the connection to the outdoors. A large sectional along with the custom cocktail table in the living room area provide ample room for game night or a quiet evening watching movies with the kids.
