This outdoor living space features a sophisticated, modern design that seamlessly integrates with the natural surroundings. The covered patio, with its wooden slatted pergola ceiling, provides a comfortable shaded area for relaxation. The seating area includes contemporary outdoor furniture with woven accents, complementing the sleek, neutral tones of the decking. A custom-built outdoor kitchen and dining area, complete with a gas grill, Big Green Egg and ample counter space, make entertaining easy and stylish. Adjacent to the patio is a beautifully designed pool with clean, minimalist lines, surrounded by light porcelain tiling. Elevated seating with built-in wooden bench and a modern fire pit create an inviting space for cozy gatherings. The lush greenery and mature trees provide privacy and a serene backdrop, enhancing the luxurious feel of this outdoor retreat. Natural light filters through the trees, casting a warm glow over the space, making it perfect for both daytime relaxation and evening entertainment.

To create this cozy window seat we cut into the wall and added a window. The seat opens for storage. What started as an addition project turned into a full house remodel in this Modern Craftsman home in Narberth, PA. The addition included the creation of a sitting room, family room, mudroom and third floor. As we moved to the rest of the home, we designed and built a custom staircase to connect the family room to the existing kitchen. We laid red oak flooring with a mahogany inlay throughout house. Another central feature of this is home is all the built-in storage. We used or created every nook for seating and storage throughout the house, as you can see in the family room, dining area, staircase landing, bedroom and bathrooms. Custom wainscoting and trim are everywhere you look, and gives a clean, polished look to this warm house. Conversion of a small ranch house to a larger simplified-Craftsman style house. We retained most of the original house, rearranging a few walls to improve an awkward layout in the original house, and added a partial second story and converted a covered patio space to a dining and family room. The clients had read Sarah Susanka’s Not So Big books and wanted to use these principles in making a beautiful and ecological house that uses space efficiently. This custom home’s goal was to create a beautiful and functional alpine retreat that is a place for family and friends to gather. A warm, welcoming feeling that connected to nature was prioritized. Outside there are beautiful arched timber trusses and stone accents. Front entry has vaulted ceiling and posts with rock bases. The home’s angles and extensive picture windows take advantage of panoramic three-story views. Open-concept layout required hefty structural component, Glulams and timbers feature in the home and structural steel is integrated into the wall. Central log post spans 3 levels. Great room connects the home with big open spaces and vaulted ceilings.

The new exterior color scheme of french blue with accents of white and pale gray gives a more nautical feel to the house. The original cottage was wrapped by a deck on all four sides, most of which was not used. The new composite deck is located primarily on the south (lake) side of the house, as well as at the entry. The chalet-style railings were replaced with crisp-looking cable railings. Scalloped trim connects the posts supporting the new deck. Lowering the grade between the house and the garage placed the entry walkway at the same level as the back patio, eliminating the need to walk up a set of stairs to get from the back yard to the front.
