Our approach to the redesign of the building pediment compliments the resilience of its original construction and augments its present aesthetic. This “Boardwalk Canopy” concept is envisioned as an elegant revitalization of the Porte Cochere (canopy) and corresponding ground-scapes. We understand that the existing canopy is both an element of shelter and salient in accentuating the character of the existing edifice. Since the existing function of the Regency’s Porte Cochere is to provide covered entrance for inhabitants and visitors, our design proposal reinterprets this element as a figuratively organic ext4ntion of the boardwalk. Striking a sensitive relationship with the social theatre of place, the 5200 Boardwalk Canopy design generates a new linear and vertical continuity in gesture and form, while redefining a visual hierarchy for the pediment. The simple palette facilitates wayfinding and specifies a timeless and durable visual statement that engages with the Regency’s latent character. We believe this design presents a unique and identifiable reimagining of a building that has well withstood the test of time. This kitchen was fully reconfigured as part of a complete Upper Lonsdale home renovation in North Vancouver. The design emphasizes clean geometry, functional workflow, and integrated finishes. Custom flat-panel cabinetry extends to the ceiling, maximizing vertical storage while maintaining a streamlined profile. A back-painted glass backsplash was installed to provide a seamless, reflective surface that enhances natural light and simplifies maintenance. Precise alignment between cabinetry, hood fan integration, and appliance placement was critical to achieving the balanced, architectural layout. Quartz countertops were fabricated with tight tolerances around the sink and cooktop zones, and appliance integration was carefully coordinated to preserve the kitchen’s minimal aesthetic. The result is a highly functional, modern kitchen executed with disciplined detailing and finish continuity throughout the space. This project reflects Arani Construction’s expertise in full home renovations across Upper Lonsdale and the North Shore, where structural understanding and finish-level execution must work together seamlessly.

This very large corner site was shrouded in tired and thirsty conventional lawn. Really a bland, uninteresting monoculture—impossible to maintain especially in light of our dwindling resources and our growing understanding about sustainable practices. We chose to approach this project not with the idea that existing lawn is bad, but with respect for what lawn has historically represented: a socially connective tissue. Instead of conventional grass requiring endlessly large amounts of water, chemicals and mowing, this lawn conversion shifts to a naturalistic native meadow mix splashed with wildflowers and drought tolerant native shrubs. It was the clients’ desire to be wrapped by a garden attracting native pollinators and beneficial insects. A wildlife photographer, they wanted the opportunity to open windows and doors and feel immediately connected to a coastal native environment. The handsome new stone walls, stairs and massive boulders became the structural framework containing the loose, coastal sage scrub plant community, holding the landscape together during the dormant months. As we continue to grow our acceptance of and appreciation for climate appropriate California gardens, and embrace the paradigm shift, let us graciously bid adieu to our home’s unsustainable velvet robe.

Love this girls' bedroom! I can image this girl curling up on the window seat and reading a book for hours. The lavender and pale yellow walls are a perfect color combination. The white bedding is light and airy, which gives a whimsical look to the bedroom. The flower rugs are a perfect addition to this room and is complete with the shutters on the bay windows. The new design reformulated the first floor plan making it much more functional and visually exciting. The design also added, deleted, and relocated windows and French doors to greatly enhance exterior views, draw in more natural light, and seamlessly upgrade the articulation of exterior elevations.
