1950’s kitchens need love too... and make great remodels! These homeowners contacted Castle for help on their kitchen remodel. The biggest wish-list item was a larger and more functional kitchen layout (with expanded views into the previously completed rear addition/dining room). After some conceptual design concepts were assessed, we chose to keep this kitchen's existing footprint and expand the site lines into the rear dining space with a new drywall opening. We expanded the function of the kitchen by wrapping the peninsula around into the dining room with an additional pantry space for kitchen overflow storage. Each cabinet was well thought out for the homeowners use of the space to include functional storage accessories like plate divides, utensil pull-outs, and trash/recycle bins. Working with the designer, the homeowners found a beautiful balance of some contemporary aesthetics like the overall color scheme combined with some classic elements such as the detailed cabinetry and herringbone tile backsplash. One of our favorite details in the kitchen is the new tile floor that continues into the dining room. The wood texture plank tile adds depth and texture as well as contrasts nicely with the softer and refined finishes above. New Cambria quartz countertops, new cabinetry, herringbone tile backsplash, new tile floors, custom lighting, and new plumbing fixtures complete the space. The new transitional styled kitchen can grow with the family for many years to come. With a swap out of some furniture the whole space can transition between contemporary or traditional. The homeowners wanted their third floor bathroom to reflect their rustic chic aesthetic. The third floor has a bonus room that will be used as a spare bedroom, too. They incorporated a rustic, distressed barn door, "vintage" and worn porcelain wood planking and "brick" for the main area. Shiplap and a cool western throwback vanity stick to a sense of continuity and rustic charm. The shower is a combination of a larger field tile (4x16) with a darker grout on the vertical, a wall of Island Stone mixed quartz stones and a rustic penny round. Check out those hooks...Moose! Charmingly rustic and very, very cool.

This traditional 4,000 square-foot home is located on a quiet cul de sac in Alamo, California. It served as a family home for San Francisco city professionals, but it was due for a remodel following a change in the lives of the owners. The homeowners are now empty nesters and came to Yoko Oda Interior Design to update their home. Our aim was to create a sophisticated timeless modern environment for this large estate in the San Francisco Bay Area. We were excited to take on the challenge and give the home a new lease of life now their children have grown up and left home. Our sophisticated clients were drawn to traditional architectural details, global influences (i.e., Yoko’s Japanese modern aesthetics), contemporary clean lines, and neutral sophisticated color palettes. We have incorporated these interior design elements throughout the home, helping to maximize the space and features available to them while creating a more adult-friendly space to live. Neutral colors allow our clients to continue adding to the home in the future without committing to any colors that they may get tired of after some time. They are a classy option to add to any space and act as the backdrop for any artwork or home accessories that may be added later on. Yoko’s design inspiration came from the clients’ personalities and the color palettes in their wardrobe. Our wardrobes say so much about us, and it’s a great way to learn more about the clients we are working with. A home needs to reflect the personalities of those living there, giving them a space to come back and relax in Alamo after a busy day. We utilized the architectural features in their home such as a 22’ high ceiling, the large windows with natural light and the beautiful gardens outside. We incorporated each of these elements in an intentional way, with the goal of creating a home that was distinctive, layered and that felt collected over time. Yoko created a calm, global, understated city vibe in this family home, which is something that can be a challenge to cultivate in the San Francisco Bay Area. We hope the family will enjoy many more years of living in this beautiful property during this new stage in their lives. We wanted to create a serene and sophisticated bedroom for our clients, with a show-stopping feature wall! The wallpaper is such a wow-moment and really brings the room to life. To add texture, and a bit of fun, we hung a white, feathery JUJU hat on the wall, right above the headboard! I love the softness it brings to the room! We wanted to continue the gray, cream, and blue color story upstairs and I truly love how the colors pair together in this space. The blue bedding pairs perfectly with the gray, tufted bed frame and white graphic rug. Lastly, The antique bronze elements add a bit of drama to the space… I mean check out that chandelier!

Check out this kitchen upgrade!! All new cabinets, countertops and backsplash can make a huge difference. Not only did we replace the existing cabinets to a shaker style stained country oak, but we also added even more than there was before making an overall continuous seamless looking kitchen. The floating shelves give it a bit of an open space look while the Taj Mahal Brushed classic countertops and the Sandhills interlocking backsplash gives the whole kitchen that warm, cozy feeling.

A window, premium redwood wine racks, and a reclaimed "Cooperage" wine barrel tabletop were included in this wine cellar design in Dallas Texas. Check out this dramatic contemporary staircase that we installed in Holladay. The stark contrast between the dark stained wood, the horizontal silver flat bars, and the marble treads is a powerful combination. Each individual component stands out while at the same time working together to create a bold masterpiece. The mixture of linear and curved cuts on the newel posts conveys additional boldness and drama. Also, notice the flat bar detail as they pass through the wooden posts. The bars were installed in such a way as to make each flat bar look like one continuous piece passing through each wooden post.

Rotating LED light fixtures were installed in the ceiling. LED lighting is ideal for any wine cellar design TX, as it emits minimum heat (one of wine's greatest enemies), and is energy-efficient.
