This kitchen was designed for a very active family. The goal was light, bright, and functional.
Matte finish Caesarstone counters and Smudge Proof stainless appliances all help Mom keep maintenance to a minimum. We chose high gloss white cabinets with co-ordinating striation bases to give this Kitchen a clean and contemporary feel. The backsplash features a beautiful back painted glass subway tile with a soft off white pearlescent shimmer.
The Kitchen needed to pack a lot of punch functionally for optimal storage capacity. Interior Designer Rael Hay cleverly capitalized on every square inch even devising a “Command Centre” for Mom - complete with homework organizer, family calendar, additional storage and Charging Station ready for the lap top.

After a flood swept through the 6000 sf Terrace Level of this home near Atlanta, GA, the homeowners were referred to JDA to re-design and coordinate the renovation. Our scope included a wine room, bar, tasting room, guest suite, game room, screening room, family room, and fitness areas. But the standout has always been the spa. Featuring a locker room, a small sauna, and steam room, the spa felt like an afterthought. 23 months later, the spa stands out for other reasons.
Custom sourced, handmade quilted leather doors with knurled brass hardware conceal to a vanity and changing area. Inside, dark mica flake walls glint subtly in the lighting that cycles lazily between moody color pallets as you walk through the space, leading you past refreshment bars and towel stations to find the cast concrete tub. Above you, a dark ceiling appears to float, with edge lighting separating it from the custom American Walnut wall cladding. And everything is drenched in the hyper-warm glow emanating from the lighted pink Himalayan salt wall, which leads to a glass door. Inside is the sauna. There, a second salt wall, backing up to the first, highlights the bespoke curved western red cedar benches and soft cove lighting, providing an intimate and relaxing halotherapy experience.
Across the tub room, a glass wall perfectly reflects the first salt wall. Inside, is a surprisingly large steam. A softly rounded, barrel vaulted ceiling is clad in dark, iridescent, Italian mosaic glass tiles. Benches wrap two walls and meet at a vessel sink, perched atop a stone plinth filled with ice to refresh yourself. If you still become overheated, the pull chain attached to the rain shower is set to provide a cold deluge. And to the side, a small touch screen activates the 6 ceiling mounted shower heads aligned above an 8’ stone bench. This is a Vichy shower, which is a shower you of course enjoy lying down. Vichy showers are more prevalent in Turkish hammams to wash away mud treatments. Here it’s placed inside the steam room, allowing you to experience multiple temperature extremes simultaneously.
JDA created a signature spa, designed to provide our clients with an immersive & transformative experience, unlike any other residential spa in Atlanta.

For a large multi-unit residence, it's important to pick a contractor who excels at communication, logistics and coordinating schedules. Eden Prairie contractor Trinity Exteriors is renowned for proactively communicating, and for working with all residents to ensure a large multi-unit roof replacement project goes smoothly, with as little interruption in day-to-day activity as possible.

Our products feature pivoting louvers that can be easily activated using a smartphone, to block out the sun or allow for air flow. The louvers will also close on their own when rain is detected, or open automatically during wind storms. The sturdy pergolas are made of extruded aluminum, with a powder coating in a variety of colors, which make it easy to coordinate the structures with the design of the home. With added lights and fans, it’s easier than ever to entertain outdoors.

This rectangular, sun-drenched pool area is flawlessly integrated into the vast, open landscape, offering a feeling of luxurious escape. The design features a clean-lined pool with an elegant water feature that adds a gentle, soothing ambiance. An adjacent raised, square spa, clad in warm-toned natural stone, provides the ultimate spot for year-round indulgence and relaxation.
The expansive, light-colored decking defines the outdoor living space, thoughtfully sectioning areas for activity. Central to the lounge area is a square fire pit, also finished in coordinating stone, perfect for evening gatherings. Comfort is paramount, with elegant, suspended cantilever umbrellas providing shade for the tanning loungers, while a row of classic wooden rocking chairs lines the perimeter, offering a picturesque spot to take in the unobstructed views of the surrounding countryside. This design beautifully balances modern amenities with the tranquility of a rustic setting.

Now this is a bar made for entertaining, conversation and activity. With seating on both sides of the peninsula you'll feel more like you're in a modern brewery than in a basement. A secret hidden bookcase allows entry into the hidden brew room and taps are available to access from the bar side.
What an energizing project with bright bold pops of color against warm walnut, white enamel and soft neutral walls. Our clients wanted a lower level full of life and excitement that was ready for entertaining.

Photo by Barbara Wilson Landscape Architect, LLC
A small residential, seaside property located on Fairfield Beach, Fairfield was renovated by the new owners and adapted for their active family. Barbara was the landscape architect in charge of all of the landscape elements upgrades. She designed new bluestone curving paths to access the front and side doors and designed new landscape lighting to enhance the walks. The existing trees were saved and she designed new shade and salt-tolerant plantings which were added to provide seasonal color and interest while respecting the existing plantings. Along the beach front additional native beach grasses were added to stabilize the dunes while removing some invasive plantings. This work will be phased over the next few years in an effort to keep the sand stable. Beach roses were incorporated into a hollow in the dunes. A small lawn area was renovated and the surrounding Black Pines pruned to provide a small play area and respite from the sun. Beautiful reblooming hydrangeas line the edge of the gravel driveway. Rounded beach stones were used instead of mulch in the island planting along the edge of the adjacent road planted with Miscanthus, Mugo pine and yucca.
Barbara designed a custom kayak rack, custom garbage enclosure, a new layout of the existing wooden deck to facilitate access to the side doors, and detailed how to renovate the front door into only an emergency access with new railings and steps.
She coordinating obtaining bids and then supervised the installation of all elements for the new landscape the project.
The interiors were designed by Jack Montgomery Design of Greenwich, CT and NYC . Tree work was completed by Bartlett Tree Experts. Freddy’s Landscape Company of Fairfield, CT installed the new plantings, installed all the new masonry work and provides landscape maintenance services. JT Low Voltage and Electric installed the landscape lighting.

George Sexton Associates provided lighting design
and focusing services to the interior spaces and
roof terrace of this NYC residence. A recessed slot
with tracks provided a flexible lighting solution
for showcasing the owner’s vast art collection.
GSA collaborated with Glasbau Hahn to design
and coordinate four museum grade vitrines.
Wallgrazing luminaires where strategically located
and integrated into the architecture to provide
lighting for a series of detailed reliefs. Millwork was
fitted with integrated lighting that is activated with
door movement. Integrated lighting was also used
under shelves and in closets.

Built in 1979, this home in Pittsburgh’s Bradford Woods borough snuck in at the very tail end of Mid-Century Modern architecture. As lovers of that era, you can imagine our excitement when our clients explained their vision to lean in to that style with their planned kitchen renovation. We collaborated to design a beautiful and functional space that not only better suits this young family’s lifestyle, but truly feels like it has always been a part of the home.
Starting with the layout, we opened the kitchen up to neighboring dining room and eat-in spaces, allowing for a more cohesive main level floorplan. Along with some slight reconfiguring of the refrigerator and pantry locations, a new island created an opportunity for the main kitchen workspace to stay connected for both entertaining and day-to-day activities. Custom open shelving anchors the end of the island without blocking sightlines from the front of the home into the kitchen.
New light oak flooring throughout adds a contemporary nod, integrating two adjoining family rooms. It also creates a nice contrast for the kitchen and dining room’s custom cabinetry in a rich walnut finish. Slab style doors with minimal brass hardware help deliver the streamlined Mid-Century aesthetic. Custom radial edges at the island and coffee bar add a whimsical flair, highlighting the matte green solid surface countertops. To coordinate with the original tile found in the entryway, a neutral choice with rustic handmade detail adds warmth and texture to the backsplash and island base.
Rounding out the rest of this sunny space, Mid-Mod inspired light fixtures, bold patterned wallpaper, a mix of the client’s new and vintage furniture, plus curated textiles and accessories lend the “just right” amount of personality.

Cordova is a random, geometric cut and loop pattern that creates amazing visual depth. The tone-on-tone yarns give the product dramatic texture and design appeal. Constructed of STAINMASTER® Luxerell® nylon fiber and part of the Active Family™ brand, Cordova’s color palette includes thirty gorgeous tones that coordinate perfectly with the other Artisan products.
