I was asked by a customer in Leatherhead, Surrey to clean the Limestone tiled floors that had been installed throughout the ground floor of his house. I popped round to take a look at the job and could see that the Limestone tile and grout was quite dirty; it was clear that the sealer had broken down and dirt was now becoming ingrained into the stone and grout.
The floor would need to be burnished and re-sealed to get it back to its original condition and so I provided a quote to do the work. The quote was accepted although he did ask if I could provide a couple of references from former clients; there are over 70 testimonials from past customers on my website so this was not a problem and I was happy to do so. Once he had received the references he called to book me in.
Cleaning Limestone Floor Tiles
My first job was to protect the walls and units before scrubbing the first area with a hot solution of Tile Doctor Pro-Clean using a rotary machine fitted with a brush head attachment. This process lifted the dirt out from the grout, the surface and any holes.
The floor was then rinsed thoroughly with clean water to remove any cleaning products and I then proceeded to burnish the Limestone tiles using a set of four burnishing pads system fitted to a rotary machine. You start with a coarse pad lubricated with a little water and this removes any remaining sealers and ingrained dirt from the stone. Any slurry is then rinsed away and you move onto the remaining medium, fine and superfine polishing pads which bring back the polished surface, again each pad needs to be lubricated with a little water which needs to be rinsed away after each pad. It was a large area so as you can imagine this took some time to apply this process to the entire floor so I focused on the Kitchen then first day and came back the second day to work on the hallway and utility room.
Sealing Limestone Floor Tiles
On the third day I came back to seal the floors using two coats of Tile Doctor Colour Grow which is a colour enhancing penetrating sealer that brings out the different shades of colour in Limestone and is designed to provide maximum stain protection on natural stone floors. The last step was to buff the floor to a nice shine with a rotary machine fitted with a white pad.
The grout is now back to its original grey as opposed to black and the Limestone look new again, needless to say the customer was really pleased with the finish and has since recommended my services to other friends.

The colourful and diverse geometric patterns of a Victorian tiled floor can give a property a regal, elegant and timeless feel, making it a popular choice even in the 21st century. However, as time passes without regular care and maintenance, Victorian tiles can quickly lose their colour and appear deadened by the buildup of dirt and dust over several months (and sometimes years).
This property owner in Hebden a very small village in North Yorkshire of less than 300 people, had this common problem. Her Victorian tiled hallway had not been adequately maintained and was now more difficult to keep clean than ever. To add to the problem, most of the tiles along the edges were either broken, cracked, or filled with holes, probably I suspect from the installation of carpet grippers at some point in the past.
At this point, the property owner turned to Tile Doctor to see what could be done.
Before beginning a deep clean of the entire length of the hallway, it was first necessary to source and install replacement tiles for those that had been broken and damaged. I also relaid any that were loose.
When finished, I left the tiles to set and returned the next day to start the clean. My choice of cleaner in this situation was Tile Doctor Pro Clean, which was scrubbed into the floor with a special pad fitted to a rotary machine to break down ingrained dirt and stains. Pro Clean does this very effectively on all types of tile, including natural stone and of course Victorian tiles.
The floor was then rinsed with water and the soiled cleaning solution extracted from the floor using a vet vacuum. Stubborn areas were re-treated with more Pro Clean, and when I was satisfied with the condition of the tiles the floor was given a final but thorough rinse to remove any trace of cleaning product.
The floor was then left to dry completely overnight to ensure all excess moisture had disappeared, leaving it fresh to be sealed. I returned in the morning for a third day of work to seal the Victorian tiles with four coats of Tile Doctor Seal and Go, a topical sealer which provides a rich satin finish to really add depth to the colours in the tile while protecting it against dirt and stains.
The customer was delighted with the restoration and couldn’t quite believe the huge improvement in the appearance of the tiles, especially in regards to the enhancement in the different colours. Another satisfied customer!

Not all architectural imagery is created equal. Some renderings look obviously computer-generated, with flat lighting and plastic-looking materials that fail to convince viewers. Others are so precise that they are indistinguishable from photographs. That second category, realistic architectural visualization rendering, has become the standard expectation for architects, developers, and marketers who need imagery capable of withstanding close scrutiny from investors, buyers, and planning authorities. As audiences grow more visually literate, the tolerance for obviously artificial, video-game-like imagery in professional presentations continues to shrink.
What Sets Realistic Visualization Apart
Realistic architectural visualization goes beyond simply modeling a building in three dimensions. It requires physically accurate lighting simulation, true-to-life material properties, and careful attention to the small imperfections that make real-world photography convincing, such as subtle reflections, ambient occlusion in corners, and natural depth of field. The goal is an image that a viewer would believe was captured by a camera on-site rather than generated by software. Achieving that level of believability typically means dozens of small adjustments layered on top of one another rather than any single dramatic setting.
Realistic Versus Stylized Rendering Approaches
Stylized or conceptual renderings still have their place, particularly in early design phases when a looser, more artistic representation helps convey mood without locking in every detail. But once a project moves toward marketing, investment, or permitting, stakeholders need to see exactly what they are getting. Realistic visualization removes ambiguity, showing true material colors, accurate proportions, and honest lighting conditions rather than idealized abstractions. Understanding which approach a project actually needs at each stage helps clients avoid paying for a level of polish that a given milestone does not yet require.
Why Realism Builds Client and Buyer Confidence
Buyers and investors are understandably skeptical of overly polished or unrealistic marketing images. When a rendering looks convincingly real, it builds trust rather than raising doubts about what the finished project will actually look like. This is especially important in real estate presales, where buyers are committing significant sums based largely on visual material rather than a finished physical space. A rendering that later turns out to have misrepresented the finished product can also create legal and reputational exposure for developers, making accuracy a genuine business risk rather than just an aesthetic preference.
The Technical Pillars Behind Every Realistic Scene
Achieving true realism depends on several technical disciplines working together: physically based rendering engines that simulate how light actually behaves, high-resolution texture libraries that replicate real materials like stone, wood, and glass, and careful camera work that mimics real photographic lenses and exposure. Post-production adds a final layer of color grading and atmospheric effects that ties everything together into a cohesive, believable image. Each of these pillars depends on the others; even flawless material work can be undermined by lighting that behaves in a physically implausible way.
Applications Across Residential, Commercial, and Institutional Projects
Realistic visualization serves a wide range of building types, from single-family homes and luxury condominiums to office towers, hotels, schools, and healthcare facilities. Each typology has its own material palette and lighting expectations, and an experienced studio adjusts its approach accordingly, whether that means warm, inviting tones for a residential lobby or crisp, professional lighting for a corporate headquarters. Institutional clients such as universities and hospitals often have additional requirements around accessibility signage and wayfinding, which need to be represented accurately alongside the architecture itself.
How AIMIR CG Delivers Photorealistic Accuracy
Our studio specializes in realistic architectural visualization rendering that holds up under close inspection. Every project moves through a disciplined pipeline of modeling, texturing, lighting, and post-production review, with artists cross-checking material references and lighting studies against real-world photography. This attention to detail is why clients consistently describe our end product as impressive and our process as easy to work with. A dedicated quality review stage before delivery catches inconsistencies that might otherwise slip through a faster, less structured pipeline.
Common Challenges in Achieving True Realism
Realistic rendering is technically demanding. Common obstacles include accurately simulating how light bounces between surfaces, matching material reflectivity to real product specifications, and avoiding the uncanny, slightly artificial look that comes from over-processed images. Overcoming these challenges requires experienced artists who understand both the science of light and the craft of photography, not just software proficiency. Rushed production schedules are often the real culprit behind unconvincing renderings, since realism typically requires several iterative passes rather than a single render.
What to Look for in a Realism-Focused Rendering Studio
When evaluating a rendering partner, review their portfolio critically. Do the images include convincing shadow detail and material variation, or do surfaces look uniformly smooth and artificial? Ask about their revision process and how closely they work with architects to source accurate material and lighting references, since realism is ultimately the product of disciplined collaboration, not a single software setting. It also helps to ask for examples of past projects in a similar building type, since a studio's strengths can vary across typologies.
Ready for Renderings That Look Real
If your project deserves imagery that can stand up to the scrutiny of investors, buyers, and planning boards, AIMIR CG is ready to help. Our team combines technical precision with artistic judgment to deliver visualization that looks and feels genuinely real. Contact us to discuss how photorealistic rendering can strengthen your next presentation or marketing campaign, and let us show you examples from projects similar to your own.

What's better than a leisurely breakfast in bed for newlyweds!?!
These Mr. and Mrs. individual trays were made using vintage 1950s Kentley trays as the base, with original designed art prints decoupaged on top with 5 layers of hard-coat Mod Podge and a protective layer of polyurethane on top.
Each carries copy that says "Breakfast in Bed with my One True Love" in an oval around the Mrs and Mr at center. The background is a lacy Victorian design that complements the shape of each tray. Each tray is 17.5 x 8.5".
Because the bases are vintage, there may be signs of age, random marks, slight edge wear. This is part of the vintage charm of these pieces and does not detract in any way, or affect functionality.
About the bases: Kentley trays were produced in the 1950s. They are large enough to hold a luncheon plate, cup and saucer, juice glass and silverware. They are made of pressed wood fibers and covered in fused lithographed paper that is water and alcohol resistent on both front and back.
Part of my Ain't Love Grand™ line, these will be shipped with gift tag tied to a burlap ribbon. Care instructions will be included. (Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry. Standing water may damage the finish, as it will with furniture, so it is recommended not to let spills or condensation settle for long.)
––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––
I have one more pair of trays in this light wood-look. I can customize with the names of the bride and groom (instead of Mr. and Mrs). Please convo me for this option...do not purchase from this page if you would like a custom design. Production time on custom frames is approximately 6 days, not including shipping time.

Great article on the Buena Vista Residence featured on Inhabitat.com http://inhabitat.com/george-bradleys-art-filled-buena-vista-house-is-wrapped-in-reclaimed-redwood/
Longtime art collectors George Bradley and Eddie Baba collaborated on the ‘Buena Vista’ house in San Francisco’s Upper Castro neighborhood. The home is situated on a steep triangular lot with breathtaking views towards Sutro Tower and Bernal Heights. The original house on the site was used as a bomb shelter in 1941, and architect George Bradley subtly carried on this theme with reclaimed old growth Redwood siding sourced nearby from Hanger One at Moffett Field, and decorative WWII era steel buoys placed within the landscaping. We had a chance to tour this beautiful home during last month's AIA SF House Tours
The lower level of the house remains bunker-like, emerging from the site like a pedestal for the main upper level that is reached by an exterior steel and concrete staircase leading to the large-scale Redwood front door.
An au pair unit with a separate entrance is located at the lowest level, still high above the street. On top the concrete plinth foundation, two solid wood-clad volumes are connected by a tall glass atrium at the center of the house. The two solid sides brace the house on what is a somewhat dizzyingly steep and sharp angled site.
Inside the home, quiet bedrooms and a library are tucked below the kitchen, entry lobby and living room on the main level. The top level holds the master suite and outdoor roof deck, connected by a catwalk along the central atrium that cantilevers over the main entry. The south-facing central atrium also passively heats the house, along with radiant flooring. Expansive walls lining the side masses provide ample space for the homeowners’ carefully curated art collection amassed over the past 14 years.
The artwork – playful, architectural, and delightful products of known designers and somewhat unknown local artisans – can be found throughout the home. A Zeppelin chandelier lamp by Flos hangs over the main door, illuminating the atrium at night. Locally sourced tile from Heath Ceramics lines the fireplace and kitchen backsplash. Several works came from Creativity Explored, a local nonprofit that provides artists with developmental disabilities the means to create, exhibit, and sell their art.
A Jens Quistgaard Safari chair sits in the main living room and a collection of his colored pots accent the kitchen. Local glass artist Jonah Ward has two major works in the home – a three panel molten glass / burnt wood piece and a nine panel glass sculpture series. Several vintage Eames and Dansk furniture pieces were also spotted in the home.
Perhaps the most entertaining works were the models of famous architecture, such as Le Corbusier’s Villa Savoye, constructed from LEGO bricks. We look forward to seeing more works, in LEGO and in full scale, by architect George Bradley.

I have one more pair of trays in this black wood-look. I can customize with the names of the bride and groom (instead of Mr. and Mrs). Please convo me for this option...do not purchase from this page if you would like a custom design. Production time on custom frames is approximately 6 days, not including shipping.

This young family purchased their first home in 2021, and let's say it was full of original 1970s charm - i.e., nothing had been done to this house in the past 50 years.
We had recently completed a project for a family member, so they called us in to help. During our initial consultation, they shared a modest project budget, and we explained that we wouldn't be able to accomplish much on such a limited budget. Several weeks passed, and they ultimately raised their funding, and we signed on for the job.
Even after doubling their budget, we still had our work cut out for us. The original kitchen was very small in comparison to the square footage of the home, and opening up the space meant we needed to add two structural beams between the first and second stories.
These homeowners already had one small child, and were expecting another in the coming months. They also have large families in the area, so creating an ample gathering space for multiple cooks was crucial to the final layout. Some of their wish list items included a bar and a large island with plenty of seating. They also wanted the kitchen open to the family room.
This home had a formal and informal dining area, so we opted to absorb the casual eating area into the newly expanded kitchen floorplan. We relocated their laundry room to create an extended family room, which included the new bar area. We were also able to use the under-stair space to create a kitchen pantry. The kitchen transformed from 115 sq. ft. to a spacious 260 sq. ft., all within existing poorly used space. We were able to create clear sightlines to the backyard and pool from the new kitchen and family room, perfect for a young family.
Aesthetically speaking, our clients wanted a neutral space that could grow and change with their family. We kept the expensive items like cabinets, countertops, and tile in classic finishes like whites and navy blues, while we had more fun with things like the faucet, hardware, and light fixtures that could easily be updated over the years. The finished product is a warm, clean, family-friendly space that invites you to come in and pull up a chair.

Therefore, you get all the details you would with real fire like wispy smoke and even burning embers which other fireplaces are not capable of producing. We spent 5 years of R&D to produce this cutting edge technology.
