7 mistakes in bedroom design and ways to avoid them. ERROR # 1 - Incorrect bed size. This is a problem with any furniture in principle. When, according to the plan and ergonomic calculations, it becomes size to size, but in fact, it looks cumbersome, visually overflowing the space or, on the contrary, turns out to be too small and looks awkward. How to avoid: Always be guided by the proportions of the size of the furniture in the room. Try to choose as big a bed as possible, but stay realistic. The walls of the living room were painted in a pale and cool cornflower blue to contrast the warmth of the brown painted foyer, and compliment to tawny coloration of the Stark area rug, which provides an energetic dose of pattern, much like tile, into an otherwise quietly elegant space. The intention was to create a welcoming space that is elegant, ethereal and highly personal. The sofa is custom is a Cristopher Wothland custom design. The arm chairs in the foreground are Belgian, c. 1940. The pair of waterfall tables in front of the sofa are veneered with honeycomb. Art by Cristopher Worthland.

Some great rooms are really great! This one features a large taupe grey island with raised bar seating, Off white perimeter cabinets and sturdy utilitarian stools, hardware and light fixtures. The look is eclectic transitional. An intentional cornflower blue accent color is used for glass subway back splash tile, patio door, rugs, and accessories to connect and balance this expansive cheerful space where an active family of seven, occupy every square inch of space. Inspiration for an eclectic kitchen remodel in Other

Mid-Century Remodel on Tabor Hill This sensitively sited house was designed by Robert Coolidge, a renowned architect and grandson of President Calvin Coolidge. The house features a symmetrical gable roof and beautiful floor to ceiling glass facing due south, smartly oriented for passive solar heating. Situated on a steep lot, the house is primarily a single story that steps down to a family room. This lower level opens to a New England exterior. Our goals for this project were to maintain the integrity of the original design while creating more modern spaces. Our design team worked to envision what Coolidge himself might have designed if he'd had access to modern materials and fixtures. With the aim of creating a signature space that ties together the living, dining, and kitchen areas, we designed a variation on the 1950's "floating kitchen." In this inviting assembly, the kitchen is located away from exterior walls, which allows views from the floor-to-ceiling glass to remain uninterrupted by cabinetry. We updated rooms throughout the house; installing modern features that pay homage to the fine, sleek lines of the original design. Finally, we opened the family room to a terrace featuring a fire pit. Since a hallmark of our design is the diminishment of the hard line between interior and exterior, we were especially pleased for the opportunity to update this classic work.
