Master suite remodel by Kaufman Construction, Inc.
About this Project: The Thompsons wanted a luxurious spa-style master suite and working with Kaufman Construction they were able to realize their vision. A sitting room adjacent to the master bedroom was converted to the closet in order to expand the show into the previous master closet and a large deck mounted tub was removed from a unique, yet underutilized alcove and replaced with a gorgeous free-standing soaking tub. Stark white and green finishes were replaced with warm luxurious materials. The result is a retreat bathed in maple, walnut, porcelain and chrome. The comfort extends to the master bedroom and closet in which trim and floor coverings were replaced and walls and ceilings were given a fresh coat of earth-tone paint.

Connor Remodeling and Design
Menomonee Falls, WI
Kitchen $20,000-$40,000
Open views, more storage, and creating space for an island were the primary objectives of this remodel. Removing soffits and taking cabinets to the ceiling maximized storage. A broom closet was eliminated and a wall was pushed back to create more room for an island.
Upgrades that added to the overall room appearance included custom maple painted cabinetry with a dark stained alder island as a contrast, plus the addition of stainless steal appliances.

Jim Wirtz’s Woodworks
Milwaukee, WI
Kitchen $40,000-$80,000
An outdated and poorly designed kitchen was adjacent to an unheated and seldom used enclosed porch. Walls were removed to combine the spaces and the porch area was rebuilt to become part of the kitchen.
Custom cabinetry was stained to match existing woodwork. Transom windows and architectural features helped convert the porch into a dinette. The new kitchen is well lit with LED under-counter lighting, hood lighting, vintage scones, and ceiling lights.

Council ring style fire pit designed in the spirit of the property's original landscape architect, Jens Jensen.
Designed by: ENVIRONMENTS Studio
Dimensions:
Outer circle - 20' (6M) in diameter
Interior fire pit circle - 5' (1.5M) in diameter

The project began with a 1970's, split-level ranch, on a spectacular hilltop site with a view to Mt. Hood. The house was transformed and updated by expanding the living room, renovating the kitchen and interior surfaces, and adding a second level master bedroom suite it now sits comfortably on the narrow site and takes full advantage of natural light and distant views.
Improvements to the site include new terraces, walls and stairs, wrought iron railings and a long, linear reflecting pool. The new entry garden and pool provide a quiet transition from the street to the newly canopied teak entry doors.
This residence was undertaken by Jim as project architect with Richard Brown Architects, AIA, LLP.
