The now empty nester couple entertain frequently including their large extended family during the holidays. Separating work and social spaces was as important as crafting a space that was conducive to their love of cooking and hanging with family and friends. Simple lines, simple cleanup, and classic tones create an environment that will be in style for many years. We did lower the island so it was all one height to help open the space up a little more. The cabinets were all in good shape, so cabinet refacing was the perfect solution for them. They went with a shaker door done in the Stratus Super Matte color. We also added a large cove molding to the top of the cabinets. To finish the transformation, we added a quartz countertop done in Bianco Fumo and a Canvas La Belle Purity polished ceramic backsplash.

Sibrava & Associates, Interior ConceptsThis Dining Room features a 15" cove moulding and 15" baseboard, ceiling height is 9'. The large mahogany dining table has a double pedestal and is paired with Chippendale chairs with gold accents on the edges and motif. The award-winning window treatments (Window Fashions Certified Professionals, Envision 2012) are made of almond color silk fabric and swagged over a wood rod with gold accents on the center medallion and carved finials. The top treatment is complemented with Ado sheers that have a subtle gold stripe. The 'cabinet' at the far right hides the 1920 style radiator still used to heat this turn-of-the-century building on Chicago's north shore.
