“Fashion is well known as a reliable reflection of cultural trends and historical events. On a personal level, it has become my creative vehicle for exploring the emotional roller coaster of life. My inspiration arose from contemplating the dichotomy between the perception of women as fragile, delicate creatures, and the reality that most women are defined by resiliency and steely resolve. I employ a juxtaposition of extremes such as lightness and gravity, suppleness and intransigence, to convey feminine sensibilities. Crafted of steel and embellished with flourishes of wire mesh, screening, cut-outs and bits of found objects, the dresses are at once both elegant and imposing. I like the duplicitous nature of steel which can be manipulated to appear feminine and soft while actually maintaining its strength and rigidity—an expression in contrasts and complements.” -Donna McCullough

Set in a former cap-and-gown factory in Chicago’s North Center neighborhood, this 1,200-square-foot loft was reimagined as a layered, expressive home for an artistically minded client. What was once a tired builder-grade space is now a study in contrast: industrial bones softened by color, pattern, and personal history. Each room is defined by vibrant finishes—colorful cabinetry, statement tile, and a guest bath accented with unexpected purple grout (and a goose!)—all nodding to the client’s bold, creative spirit. Vintage family heirlooms mingle effortlessly with fresh textiles and sculptural lighting, weaving together nostalgia with a modern, eclectic space.

This multi-zone playroom is a dream come true for a family with a teenaged boy and two tween girls! With a hangout area full of bean bags, disco balls, a neon peace sign and a modern acrylic bubble chair, an indoor basketball court with a padded floor, and a climbing wall and foam pit (perfect for dunking baskets and crashing in), there’s no shortage of fun. The multiple swings—like the aerial silks for flips and the trapeze—add to the excitement. We kept the space open, with distinct zones for each activity, and used different flooring to make each zone feel unique while keeping the family together. The calming green color adds a pop of vibrancy, while the art area encourages the kids to express their creativity. Whether it's blowing off steam on the climbing wall or getting together with friends, this playroom has quickly become the family’s favorite hangout spot.

Nexxus Building Shanghai, China Distinctive personality is what best defines the interior design of the offices of Nexxus Shanghai, in a building with shared services and retail businesses on the ground floor to add greater functionality to this place of work. The challenge: take a run-of-the mill colonial-style house and turn it into a vibrant, Cape Cod beach home. The creative and resourceful crew at SV Design rose to the occasion and rethought the box. Given a coveted location and cherished ocean view on a challenging lot, SV’s architects looked for the best bang for the buck to expand where possible and open up the home inside and out. Windows were added to take advantage of views and outdoor spaces—also maximizing water-views were added in key locations. The result: a home that causes the neighbors to stop the new owners and express their appreciation for making such a stunning improvement. A home to accommodate everyone and many years of enjoyment to come.

Where Modern Serenity Meets Sculptural Design Designed by HENNE CREATIVE Nestled along the tranquil shoreline of Malibu, this private residence completed in 2025 is a testament to the harmony between contemporary architecture and coastal calm. Designed by HENNE CREATIVE, the space offers a deeply intentional experience that celebrates stillness, light, and form. The open plan layout embraces clarity and cohesion, allowing natural light to flow freely throughout. Every detail is curated to reflect quiet sophistication: soft geometries, a neutral color palette, and tactile materials work in seamless concert. From floor to ceiling, natural stone textures and warm wood tones build a calm visual rhythm across the space. The living area features a sculptural modular sofa that invites conversation while anchoring the spatial narrative. Behind it, a floating staircase highlighted by integrated linear lighting becomes an architectural statement, elegantly connecting levels without visual clutter. The kitchen and dining space are understated yet refined. Handleless cabinetry blends into the background, while the island serves as a clean centerpiece. A custom dining chair with textured upholstery offers a subtle sculptural moment at the table one of the project’s signature design notes. Design Language: Minimalist, tactile, and serene with a focus on volume, light, and material honesty. Material Palette: Travertine inspired surfaces, natural oak, boucle and linen textiles. Lighting: Embedded linear LEDs and minimalist pendant lighting accentuate the architecture without overwhelming it. This home is not merely a living space; it’s a spatial philosophy an invitation to slow down, to live intentionally, and to feel grounded in simplicity. At HENNE CREATIVE, we design spaces to be felt, not just seen and Malibu House is one of our purest expressions of that vision.
