Bi Fold doors conveniently hide away toaster and Kitchen Aid mixer. It's not often that you can take advantage of a lake view out in the suburbs of Chicago. This previously closed off kitchen now features an updated design with a great sightlines of the marvelous backyard landscape. The PB Kitchens Design team eliminated the formal eating area and instead, created an island with four spaces for seating, a second sink, and an abundance of storage. The outdoors is brought in via the large new windows and the earthy grey cabinet colors. Project specs: Cabinets by Signature Custom Cabinetry. The island features a Peruvian walnut island top from Grothouse Lumber. Dark granite countertop on the perimeter cabinetry. Quarter sawn white oak is used on the perimeter and island cabinets. Both are stained a weathered grey with the island a darker shade. Peruvian walnut island top from Grothouse Lumber are signature elements in this transitional kitchen.

Completed in 2025, this 278 sqft home gym in Santa Barbara was designed to support a wellness focused lifestyle within the comfort of a private residence. Carved into a dedicated area of the home, the space balances functionality with refined aesthetics. Natural wood finishes meet a muted color palette to create a calm and grounded atmosphere. Full-height mirrors expand the spatial perception, while tailored zones accommodate a range of activities from yoga and cardio to strength training. The space features a suspended punching bag, smart treadmill, spin bike, and a dedicated area for mat workouts. Custom storage seamlessly integrates kettlebells, medicine balls, towels, and accessories. The lighting concept enhances both mood and usability. Adjustable blinds allow soft daylight to filter in, while recessed linear LEDs in the ceiling introduce a warm and inviting ambiance. This project is a testament to HENNE Creative’s approach to blending modern elegance with functional living bringing a professional training experience into the heart of the home.

This project was purposefully neutralized in ocean grays and blues with accents that mirror a drama filled sunset. This achieves a calming effect as the sun rises in the early morning. At high noon we strived for balance of the senses with rich textures that both soothe and excite. Under foot is a plush midnight ocean blue rug that emulates walking on water. Tactile fabrics and velvet pillows provide interest and comfort. As the sun crescendos, the oranges and deep blues in both art and accents invite you and the night to dance inside your home. Lighting was an intriguing challenge and was solved by creating a delicate balance between natural light and creative interior lighting solutions.

When the homeowners first purchased the 1925 house, it was compartmentalized, outdated, and completely unfunctional for their growing family. Casework designed the owner's previous kitchen and family room and was brought in to lead up the creative direction for the project. Casework teamed up with architect Paul Crowther and brother sister team Ainslie Davis on the addition and remodel of the Colonial. The existing kitchen and powder bath were demoed and walls expanded to create a new footprint for the home. This created a much larger, more open kitchen and breakfast nook with mudroom, pantry and more private half bath. In the spacious kitchen, a large walnut island perfectly compliments the homes existing oak floors without feeling too heavy. Paired with brass accents, Calcutta Carrera marble countertops, and clean white cabinets and tile, the kitchen feels bright and open - the perfect spot for a glass of wine with friends or dinner with the whole family. There was no official master prior to the renovations. The existing four bedrooms and one separate bathroom became two smaller bedrooms perfectly suited for the client’s two daughters, while the third became the true master complete with walk-in closet and master bath. There are future plans for a second story addition that would transform the current master into a guest suite and build out a master bedroom and bath complete with walk in shower and free standing tub. Overall, a light, neutral palette was incorporated to draw attention to the existing colonial details of the home, like coved ceilings and leaded glass windows, that the homeowners fell in love with. Modern furnishings and art were mixed in to make this space an eclectic haven.

The clients had an existing wood deck that was starting to have several issues. We removed the existing deck and re-designed a new deck that would give them more usable space and open feeling. The decking is Gossen brand Passport series Moroccan Cedar with Spanish Walnut accent stripe. The railing is made with a wolmanized subframe and then wrapped with Gossen pvc in Moroccan Cedar color. The stone columns are Deckorator brand faux stone in Fieldstone color. The caps are Deckorator brand solar l.e.d. post caps. The railing balusters are Deckorator round aluminum balusters. Dekor l.e.d. lighting was installed in the step fascias for safety and nightime illumination to compliment the post caps. Once warmer and better weather come in I will go back out and get some nice pictures without the rain and leaves Mother Nature was throwing at me :) I also can't wait to get some great nightime shots of this project. This project involved converting a partially finished basement into an ultimate media room with an English pub. The family is big on entertaining and enjoys watching movies and college football. It was important to combine the media area with the pub to create options for guests within the same space. Although the home has a full sized basement the staircase was centrally located, which made it difficult for special configuration. As a result, we were able to work with the existing plan be designing a media area large enough for a sectional sofa and additional seating with the English pub at the far end of the room. The home owner had a projection screen on a bare wall with the electrical components stacked on boxes. The new plan involved installing new cabinets to accommodate components and surround the screen to give it a built-in finish. Open shelving also allows the homeowner to feature some of their collectible sports memorabilia. As if the 130 inch projection screen wasn’t large enough, the surround sound system makes you feel like you are part of the action. It is as close to the I MAX viewing experience as you are going to get in a home. Sound-deadening insulation was installed in the ceiling and walls to prevent noise from penetrating the second floor. The design of the pub was inspired by the home owner’s favorite local pub, Brazenhead. The bar countertop with lift-top entrance was custom built by our carpenters to simulate aged wood. The finish looks rough, but it is smooth enough to wipe down easily. The top encloses the bar and provides seating for guests. A TV at the bar allows guest to follow along with the game on the big screen or tune into another game. The game table provides even another option for entertainment in the media room. Stacked stone with thick mortar joints was installed on the face of the bar and to an opposite wall containing the entrance to a wine room. Hand scrapped hardwood floors were installed in the pub portion of the media room to provide yet another touch to “Brazenhead” their own pub. The wet bar is under a soffit area that continues into the media area due to existing duct work. We wanted to creatively find a way to separate the two spaces. Adding trim on the ceiling and front of soffit at the bar defined the area and made a great transition from the drywall soffit to the wet bar. A tin ceiling was installed which added to the ambience of the pub wet bar and further aided in defining the soffit as an intentional part of the design. Custom built wainscoting borders the perimeter of the media room. The end result allows the client to comfortably entertain in a space designed just for them.

The original conservatory was built back in the 1880's, this reconstruction project had to try and use the same craftsmanship that was used back in that time so the new conservatory had the look of old but the structure of new engineering…. this was a great project to be involved in.
