While renovating their home located on a horse farm in Bedford, NY, it wasn’t surprising this husband and wife (who also is an equestrian) wanted their house to have a “barn feel”. To start, sourced reclaimed wood was used on the walls, floors and ceiling beams. This traditional kitchen, designed by Paulette Gambacorta, features Bilotta Collection cabinetry in a flush flat panel custom green paint with a glaze on maple. An added detail of a “crossbuck” end on the peninsula was custom made from reclaimed wood and inspired by the look of barn doors. Reclaimed wood shelves on iron brackets replaced upper cabinets for easy access. The marble countertops have a hand cut edge detail to resemble the look of when the stone was first quarried. An antique carpenter’s work bench was restored by the builder, for use as an island and extra work station. An apron front sink and a wains panel backsplash completed the barn look and feel. This kitchen/ living room is meant to appear like an addition to the "original" home, which is in fact also new. This space is designed more within the modern farmhouse feel. The wood on the fireplace is from our sustainable woods program and is from a downed white oak tree. This mid-century modern was a full restoration back to this home's former glory. The vertical grain fir ceilings were reclaimed, refinished, and reinstalled. The floors were a special epoxy blend to imitate terrazzo floors that were so popular during this period. Reclaimed light fixtures, hardware, and appliances put the finishing touches on this remodel. Inspiration for a mid-sized modern white two-story stucco gable roof remodel in San Francisco with a tile roof and a red roof

AIA Tour, Barley & Pfeiffer, Energy Efficient, Green Sustainable, Hill Country, Stone exterior, Built by Katz Builders Inc., Designed by Barley and Pfeiffer. The goal was to create a space efficient home for two people that was one story, felt spacious but was compact. Stained concrete flooring and a cupola , lots of over hangs and windows to keep air circulating. Air conditioning doesn't get turned on until some time in May as the home has lots of prevailing breezes. Gluelam beams were used to create texture and interest. Stained and scored concrete floors, are energy efficient, cool in the summer and warmer in the winter.

Inspiration for a large transitional formal and open concept light wood floor living room remodel in Houston with white walls

This step-down family room features a coffered ceiling and a fireplace with a black slate hearth. We made the fireplace’s surround and mantle to match the raised paneled doors on the built-in storage cabinets on the right. For a unified look and to create a subtle focal point, we added moulding to the rest of the wall and above the fireplace. Sleek and contemporary, this beautiful home is located in Villanova, PA. Blue, white and gold are the palette of this transitional design. With custom touches and an emphasis on flow and an open floor plan, the renovation included the kitchen, family room, butler’s pantry, mudroom, two powder rooms and floors.
