Small yard concersion from grass to a more meditative theme for client. We incorporated succulents, aloe, elephant food, desert lavender . we also removed the dirst from the back wall planter in order to tarback wall to protect the wall from water staining. Deana M. ChiavolaDeana M. Chiavola

A rustic walkway of irregular bluestone and a garden space heavily dependant upon texture: the robust foliage of Hosta and the feathery fronds of Ostrich Fern (Matteuccia struthiopteris), contrast well with the delicacy of the Variegated Ribbon Grass (Phalaris arundinacea var. picta) across the path. A lot of interest can be generated within a small plant palette.

This front yard sits below street level with a hedge and trees adding to its privacy. A flagstone path to the front door expands to create a sitting area amongst the dense plantings. A combination of shade plants such as hosta, and sun plants such as sedum and lavender, give the space great texture and color. A stepping sone path leads under a tree to the side of the the house.

This drought tolerant front yard was a great addition to this property. There are decomposed granite paths, CA native / CA friendly plans, a dry creek bed and a bridge that leads to the secret garden.
