In designing Polka Dots, Toyo Ito placed multiple methacrylate, circular inserts in apparent disarray on the doors, in stark contrast to the strict and minimalist structures of this piece of furniture. This graphic idea is reminiscent of Tokyo's Za-Koenji theatre, also designed by the great architect. The eight beech slats in its structure bend and twist as if they were dancing. Their elastic tension is essential to provide the hanger with excellent form and stability.
