This large, custom kitchen has multiple built-ins and a large, cerused oak island. There is tons of storage and this kitchen was designed to be functional for a busy family that loves to entertain guests.

This isn't your typical pull-out garbage cans. This is motorized. If hands are full, gently nudge your knee against the cabinet and it magically opens. Hands too dirty to close? Gently nudge the cabinet again with your knee and it will magically close. This option is really cool with the Mouser semi-custom cabinetry.

Auto-open wastebaskets open and close with a nudge when your hands are full or covered in something sticky.

Inspiration for a small contemporary men's medium tone wood floor and brown floor walk-in closet remodel in Boston with flat-panel cabinets and dark wood cabinets

This deck and patio design holds mystery at every turn, and one more surprise awaits you. Covering the walkway from the deck to the driveway is a cedar pergola that we carefully nestled into the landscape along the side of the house. Tree branches gently nudge the pergola, and the effect mimics the feeling that you are entering the gateway to a secret garden.

Our designer has achieved a stylish look by combining dark cabinets and light-colored marbles.

This kitchen features a baking station with a base mixer shelf to save your back and tired arms from having to lug that heavy mixer. For extra storage this kitchen includes a wall multi-storage pantry for all the baking supplies as well as a oven cabinet for all your casserole dishes and pans. Also, included is a auto-open wastebasket that opens and closes with a nudge for when your hands are messy.

Maximizing the functionality of this space, and coordinating the new kitchen with the beautiful remodel completed previously by the client were the two most important aspects of this project. The existing spaces are elegantly decorated with an open plan, dark hardwood floors, and natural stone accents. The new, lighter, more open kitchen flows beautifully into the client’s existing dining room space. Satin nickel hardware blends with the stainless steel appliances and matches the satin nickel details throughout the home. The fully integrated refrigerator next to the narrow pull-out pantry cabinet, take up less visual weight than a traditional stainless steel appliance and the two combine to provide fantastic storage. The glass cabinet doors and decorative lighting beautifully highlight the client’s glassware and dishes. Finished with white subway tile, Dreamy Marfil quartz countertops, and a warm natural wood blind; the space warm, inviting, elegant, and extremely functional.

Design is often more about architecture than it is about decor. We focused heavily on embellishing and highlighting the client's fantastic architectural details in the living spaces, which were widely open and connected by a long Foyer Hallway with incredible arches and tall ceilings. We used natural materials such as light silver limestone plaster and paint, added rustic stained wood to the columns, arches and pilasters, and added textural ledgestone to focal walls. We also added new chandeliers with crystal and mercury glass for a modern nudge to a more transitional envelope. The contrast of light stained shelves and custom wood barn door completed the refurbished Foyer Hallway.

The ritual of coming home is well-established: keys down, shoes off, coat hung. This entryway handles two of the three. You will not have a place for your keys — and you will be happy.
A beautiful floor-to-ceiling entryway closet. Antiqued brass door pulls — the only hardware in sight. All of it wraps a soft touch grey interior lit by häfele led strips that come on as the doors open. Below, a shoe drawer that reads as an extension of the door — running on blum movento push-to-open hardware, opened with a simple nudge. A place for everything and everything in its place, except your keys.
This millwork project was fabricated, assembled, and finished at our Toronto shop using Farrow & Ball paint in Skimming Stone.

The new kitchen . . .
Sometimes, in remodel designs, it is best to keep things simple. Do small things to affect utility, flow and aesthetics. For this mid-century modern, for all their noted openness, the kitchen was closed off from the public, living areas. Hard to entertain to a wall. This we fixed. The other big flaw was the flow. While there was no way to economically change the path of travel through the kitchen. Nudging here and there could at least reduce the disruption at the core kitchen work areas.
