This is a kitchen very dear to our hearts. It was time for our family kitchen to be expanded. Here's the finished project, we're madly in love with the new space! The cabinets are from Medallion in Oak French Roast. The countertops are Silestone Eternal Dusk. Mike's favorite feature is the Beverage Center with room for his chair. He loves hanging out in the kitchen and we can debrief as I do food prep or cleanup. I love the spacious area for my Baking Center. The Island is a beautiful gathering space as family and friends come together. I can easily continue food prep without feeling crowded. We are beyond Thankful for the new kitchen!

This project was a ton of fun. I have been working with these clients, now dear friends, for several years on their various properties and we work really well together. For their desert home, my goal was to create a new experience with each space while maintaining flow. This required striking a balance between organic light/airy spaces and glam dark/moody spaces. The finishes specified ranged from blackened steel, walnut, polished brass, rubbed plaster, digital wallcovering and back lit quartz to name a few. When a space draws you in closer to investigate there is a moment of discovery that elicits an emotional response. These spaces do just that. From sublime light fixtures to cozy seating vignettes, this home is a beautiful sanctuary - a place to entertain friends and family both indoors and out. It is a poised exercise in effortless, relaxed, edgy luxe design.

This is one of my absolute favorite gardens. I love the fact that there are zero annuals, plants you have to replace every year, in this photo yet it is overflowing with color! 'May Night' salvia in the foreground followed by 'Martha Gonzales' red rose, salvia 'Amistad', yellow iris given by a dear friend, dwarf elm, 'Crimson Queen' Japanese maple, 'Teddy Bear' magnolia and dogwood.

The Blue Butterfly Sanctuary is the site of an old navel housing facility. The base was constructed in the early 90’s and then inhabited for only three years before becoming a ghost town. After 20 years and miles and miles of red tape the VOA (Veterans of America) got the go ahead to convert these 76 abandoned houses into homes for homeless single mother veterans and their children. As a single mama myself, and as a person who believes that every human who so desires to should have a place they can call home, this project moved me. I joined forces with my stellar sister, Justina Blakeney and together with the helping hands of a few dear friends, a dose of DIY genius, and a bunch of love, we turned this house into a home. On a shoestring ;-)

These clients needed a first-floor shower for their medically-compromised children, so extended the existing powder room into the adjacent mudroom to gain space for the shower. The 3/4 bath is fully accessible, and easy to clean - with a roll-in shower, wall-mounted toilet, and fully tiled floor, chair-rail and shower. The gray wall paint above the white subway tile is both contemporary and calming. Multiple shower heads and wands in the 3'x6' shower provided ample access for assisting their children in the shower. The white furniture-style vanity can be seen from the kitchen area, and ties in with the design style of the rest of the home. The bath is both beautiful and functional. We were honored and blessed to work on this project for our dear friends.

This was a new construction project and the owners are dear friends of mine. They consulted with me when they bought the property and even asked if I could refer them to an architect.
The owners have a great design sense and knew the look they wanted. They love color and wanted to create a warm, colorful, interesting home that incorporated the many beautiful items collected through their travels.
For this project I lead the design and furnishings of the kitchen, master bath, upstairs baths, & lower level wet bar. In addition I provided the cabinetry throughout the house, advised on overall design and selections for lighting, colors, tile, flooring, and many other elements of the project. For finishing touches, I designed and provided all window treatments throughout the house.
The final result is a spacious, bright, and warm living space suitable for comfort and entertaining year-round.
