Articulated Design Studio was brought in to design and manage the update this condominium with a fantastic view. The saga of the Woodwards Building and their finishing is well know in the industry, so we focused on updating the kitchen with a new island, surfaces, lighting fixtures and switching, and we kept the existing appliances. New flooring was laid throughout the space and all the bathrooms received updated cabinets, counters, and tile. The space receives a large volume of sunlight and the solar gain was often over 35 degrees centigrade, so we applied a Strata-Approved Low-V film by 3M to all the direct sunlight windows that wasn’t noticeable and decreased the average temperature by 10-15 degrees.
This was a full-service project valued over CAD$120,000 and, despite the March-June 2020 Pandemic Lockdown, the project was completed on-time and within budget.

Kitchen, Sliding Doors & Storage by Komandor. With any good kitchen layout, storage and flow are key. Continuing from last week’s theme…sliding doors can be a great addition to your kitchen or pantry. The main features being the increase in flow and the decrease in clutter in the kitchen. An open cabinet door protruding into your space is always cumbersome. Sliding doors can save valuable space and increase flow in high traffic areas. Not to mention that they are right on trend! Sliding doors can also be used to create a work station with a counter top and extra storage above and below. Food prep and frequently working appliances can be hidden away with the push of a door. Unexpected guests…no problem…with sliding doors a tidy kitchen is always just a slide away!

Are you looking for a way to improve that small, thin area of lawn between your driveway and the edge of your property? It's often an unsightly tangle of weeds, dry grass and rocks and can decrease the curb appeal of your home. With the addition of EasyTurf artificial grass, however, this small area becomes clean, neat and always green. AlternaScapes can help you transform your trouble-spots, too!

This bright and light kitchen project required us extending the kitchen into the dinette area and removing a window to get a better flow. Luckily there were 3 large windows, so we decided removing one wouldn't significantly decrease the amount of natural light. It was a good trade for form and function. We were able to increase the work surfaces to create a much more useable kitchen that fit all the necessities and even had room for extra. We added pull outs and functional accessories to make it an easy to use space. We supplemented the natural light with a solar tube and plenty of installed light with 2 sizes of adjustable output and temperature LED ceiling cans for layers of light.

The steep gambrel roofline is a modern play on a traditional coastal form. The monochrome weathered shingle, roofing and local stone cladding are accented with dark window sashes and bronze fixtures.
