Transitional laundry room photo in Grand Rapids

This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. New to the area, this client wanted to modernize and clean up this older 1980's home on one floor covering 3500 sq ft. on the golf course. Clean lines and a neutral material palette blends the home into the landscape, while careful craftsmanship gives the home a clean and contemporary appearance. We first met the client when we were asked to re-design the client future kitchen. The layout was not making any progress with the architect, so they asked us to step and give them a hand. The outcome is wonderful, full and expanse kitchen. The kitchen lead to assisting the client throughout the entire home. We were also challenged to meet the clients desired design details but also to meet a certain budget number.

This custom coffee bar gave the clients, who love their coffee, that special place to store all of their supplies and coffee goodies.

This 2-story home includes 3 bedrooms, a bonus room that could serve as a 4th bedroom, 2.5 bathrooms, and a 2-car garage with an entry featuring built-in lockers. To the front of the home, the Living Room is adjacent to the Dining Room. The Kitchen, with stainless steel appliances, attractive cabinetry, and a raised breakfast bar, opens to the sunny Breakfast Area that provides access to the patio and backyard. Off of the Breakfast Area is the Family Room with cozy gas fireplace and triple windows for plenty of natural light. The Owner’s Suite with stylish tray ceiling and expansive closet includes a private bathroom with double bowl vanity and 5’ shower.

This area had been previously unused, and was a bare wall on the way through to the bedroom. We decided to make it a dedicated dressing table for the homeowner, as the bathroom did not have enough room for all her hair and make-up and jewellery requirements!
