The clients had an existing stairway down to the water that was in need of replacement. They wanted to keep with the natural look and feel of the hillside. Something that would be functional and blend with the surroundings. Because of it's proximity to the grade of the hillside, all premium grade wolmanized was chosen for the decking and fascia to help prevent a future degradation of the material. The grasprail is made of western red cedar and Barkman Landscaping installed the beautiful stone steps at the bottom of the staircase and landing to help with the natural feel and to help keep the staircase from looking massive and overwhelming at the bottom. The clients now have a safe way down to the water with an aesthetically pleasing combination of materials to blend in with the surroundings. Thank you very much Mr. & Mrs. Glass for allowing us the opportunity to re-create your stairway !

A multi-valent overhaul of a steep mountain property damaged by The Flood and at risk of future degradation. We made room for an outdoor living space by broadening an old fire roadbed using ancient stonework tactics (and a couple of backhoes) to shore up the slopes about and below. We performed extensive erosion mitigation all over the site while making aesthetic improvements. To give the owners access to the overlook far above their home, we built a trail to last generations and accommodate users of all abilities. Patio concrete, cobble, and fire pit by others.

2018 HNA Awards Winner - Vintage Installation Contractor: Stowe Contracting Producer(s): Calstone & Pacific Interlock Designer: Walt Combs In 2004 paving stones were still a young industry. Cobblestones were the main stay and a three color mix was cutting edge. Customers were not adventuresome enough to try something like this so one of the owners of the company did this at his house. The industry has come a long way. This installation certainly shows the resilience and longevity of paving stones. The kids that lived here now have kids. Multiple birthdays, anniversaries, and celebrations have taken place here with virtually no degradation of the installation. The pizza oven was added four years ago and fits in seamlessly. Only wish the patio furniture lasted as well. that is the third generation since the patio was installed.
