A lack of counter top space, and the original layout which included an exterior door, and wall separating the dinning room and kitchen, really demanded a new design and complete update. The doorway to the exterior (which is where the triple windows are currently located) took up valuable work space in the kitchen. A wall separated the dinning and kitchen area. The wall was removed and the room was opened up for a space that was much better for entertaining and human interaction. Otherwise, whoever was cooking was walled off from the rest of the house. The medium toned natural birch cabinetry along with the lighter maple floors created an open, warm and inviting room.

With no room to spare, creativity made this space work well including a washer and drier. The hot water comes from an on demand system placed outside. A barn door maximizes the space in the room.

A staircase lives two lives. One as an architectural feature, and another as a functional piece of the home. This transitional design handles both with ease. Natural white oak treads flow from the hardwood floors below, making the staircase feel fundamental to the home rather than inserted into it. White painted risers and pin balusters keep the composition light and open, letting natural light move freely through the space.
The glossy black handrail and newels add an edge to the design, creating definition against the white paint and warm oak elements. Tying it together, the over-the-post balustrade creates a flowing line that draws the eye up. A staircase that doesn't demand attention, but rewards those who pause to notice it.

The goal of this project was to transform the room into a serene and sophisticated space that serves as both a sanctuary for rest and a functional area for daily use. At the core of this design is the philosophy of blending modern functionality with an organic connection to nature through color, texture, and spatial harmony.
The deep green walls are central to this design, creating a cocoon-like atmosphere while grounding the space. Inspired by nature, the color promotes relaxation and adds a rich contrast to the lighter elements in the room. This contrast enhances the room's natural lighting and brings depth to the design. The process involved pairing this bold backdrop with natural wood tones and textured fabrics to elevate the space, while still maintaining a modern aesthetic.
This newly designed primary bedroom evokes feelings of peace and luxury. The deep, moody greens make the room feel cozy and inviting, while the light wood floors and white accents provide a sense of brightness and balance. It’s a space where one can truly relax, escape the demands of everyday life, and enjoy quiet moments of reflection or rejuvenation.

Nestled in the heart of Denver's historic Park Hill neighborhood, Park Hill Haus is a complete luxury home renovation and interior design project that reimagines a 1946 residence into a refined yet deeply livable family retreat. Designed for two medical professionals seeking sanctuary from demanding careers, this full-scale transformation was guided by a vision of creating a home that feels elevated, peaceful, and effortlessly welcoming.
Every inch of the home was thoughtfully redesigned and renovated from top to bottom, with no detail overlooked. While the residence underwent a comprehensive modernization, great care was taken to preserve the character and architectural heritage that make Park Hill homes so beloved. The result is a seamless blend of old and new—a modern transitional home that honors its roots while embracing contemporary luxury living.
Inspired by the clients' love of international travel and iconic luxury fashion houses, the interiors draw subtle influence from the timeless sophistication of Chanel. Layered textures, restrained elegance, and carefully curated materials create a sense of understated luxury that feels both aspirational and approachable. Rather than designing a home that feels formal or untouchable, the goal was to create spaces that invite connection, comfort, and everyday enjoyment.
Throughout the home, a palette of warm neutrals and earthy tones establishes a calming foundation. Natural materials, rich textures, and globally inspired details reflect the clients' travels around the world, adding depth, personality, and a collected feel to each space. The design balances refinement with warmth, creating an environment that feels luxurious without ever feeling cold.
Family-centered living was at the heart of every design decision. Gathering spaces were thoughtfully planned to support both intimate moments and effortless entertaining, while private areas provide a serene retreat for rest and restoration. The home's atmosphere evokes the feeling of a boutique luxury hotel layered with the comfort and authenticity of a well-loved family home.
Park Hill Haus stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful luxury interior design—where heritage architecture, modern functionality, and worldly inspiration come together to create a home that is timeless, inviting, and uniquely personal.

Sound Design Marks 20 Years with ELAN-Centered Showroom
By RS Staff March 12,2013
Marking 20 years of success and growth in Texas as a custom installation firm, Sound Design is opening a new state-of-the-art home technology showroom in the resort community of Horseshoe Bay, TX on April 1.
Sound Design showroom
The new 4,500 square foot showroom puts the ELAN g! Entertainment and Control System on the main stage, according to owner Chris Bean, who wants to make sure that it is the first thing clients experience when they walk into the entrance living room.
“What better way to celebrate our 20th year as Texas’ premier custom installation firm than to open a beautiful new showroom with all the latest home technologies?” Bean said. “We’ve learned a lot over the years, and our experience helped us design the new showroom in a way that presents a relaxing, luxurious ambience that appeals to our local clientele. We used the best-of-the-best in every category, from the Runco 63-inch plasma TV framed and hidden by a VisionArt motorized art print to the ultra-high-end CAT MBX Sequoia speakers and of course the ELAN g! System.
"We have another showroom in Lakeway, TX where we’ve been showing off ELAN g! since the system debuted in 2010. When we first got into custom home installation, multi-room audio and video systems were the biggest client request. Today, we are increasingly finding that homeowners and homebuyers are as interested in complete home control as they are in their TVs and music, if not more so. Expandable, easy to use control systems that utilize mobile devices and simplify home living are going to be major sales drivers of the future for both the CI industry and the home building industry.
ELAN g! System
The showroom offers a tour of top-of-the-line home electronics, starting with the entrance living room that features AV and lighting control from an ELAN TS10 10-inch in-wall touchscreen, an ELAN TS2 in-wall touchscreen and an ELAN HR2 handheld remote. The system distributes audio and video content to a system consisting of a Runco V63 63-inch plasma display, a Planar 2x3 Matrix Wall with six 46-inch panels, a Planar Mosaic wall with four 46-inch panels and four 15-inch square panels, a two-channel audio system that uses two 7-foot-tall CAT MBX Sequoia’s, and a surround system that includes an Integra DTR 50.4 receiver, Newport speakers and two Sunfire HRS-12 subwoofers.
“Many of our clients are tech-savvy homeowners who have become mobile tech enthusiasts through their everyday interactions with iPhones and tablets, and they want that same instant satisfaction to apply to their household media and home functions. We’re using the ELAN g! System to show them that home control can be just as easy as using an iPhone,” Bean said. “Just a few years ago, the most common client request was for an amazing home theater to enjoy the newest DVDs or Blu-Rays. Consumer culture is now moving beyond just high-quality audio and video and our clients are demanding easy, fast, total control of everything in the home from their touch panels, smartphone or tablet. ELAN g! does it in spades, and for many clients it’s simply the best choice out there.”
The most unique part of the new showroom is the 640 square foot Simulation Room. Featuring AboutGolf’s newest three-projector continuous curve screen golf simulator, a LaserShot shooting simulator with five-channel surround and 30 competitive games for two players, and a VRX iMotion triple-LCD display driving & flight simulator, this room is literally a virtual playground. Bean wanted to show that he’s an outside-the-box thinker, and that, in this resort community, there is a custom installation professional that can bring dreams to life.
“The Simulation Room is a step forward for CI showroom design and for our company, and it allows us to open the imagination of our clients to show them that anything is possible. Homeowners in Horseshoe Bay are all about recreation and a luxury lifestyle so we wanted to show the unique ways people could enhance their home’s fun factor. From controlling lighting, heating and surveillance cameras on an iPhone to a hyper-realistic golf simulator that makes you feel like you’re really teeing off on the course, our Horseshoe Bay showroom is as state-of-the-art as it can be.”
Sound Design also built a commercial quality home theater that uses a Display Development HD3 projector, a 184-inch Stewart Filmscreen Luxus Delux screen, A Kaleidescape M300 player connected to a Kaleidescape CinemaOne server in the lobby, a Theta Casablanca III preamp/processor, Theta Compli-blu Blu-ray player, a PrimaCinema server, and a bevy of California Audio Technology speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers.

The apartment is located in the center of Yerevan, providing a beautiful panoramic view of the whole city. The concept of the project was to create an urban loft for a young family based on both customers demand and the functionality of the premises. The apartment is designed with strict architectural approach providing functional arrangement of all areas. Pastel colors have been extensively used in the interior design. The priority in the selection of the materials used in the project was given to non-harmful and natural elements thus creating an environment where the residents can be in psychological harmony at any time of the day. A great attention was paid to the function of furniture and lighting. Modern furniture pieces have been used for the whole house, some of which are world-renowned models. The selection of material and color, the use of simple geometric shapes, the correct combination of large and small volumes gives an additional space to the apartment. Linking one area to another with ceiling-to-floor doors creates unique architectural experience for the residents. Simple, yet functional solutions, the combination of natural and artificial light create pleasant atmosphere through-out the day. Each room serves its purpose, enabling homeowners to enjoy their daily routine. This apartment is an example of contemporary interior design, which provides comfort and simplicity, is uncluttered, fresh and subtly sophisticated. Photography: Ani Avagyan and Sona Manukyan

Designer Janet Villafane of Villafane Design, LLC of Chester, New Jersey designed and executed this contemporary kitchen with Aston Smith of Bilotta Kitchens of New York. According to Villafane, “from the moment you meet this family you understand their priority in life is family and friends. We were looking for a design that, first and foremost, emphasized the occupants’ request to have a home that was inviting to all that entered. We continued to focus on that request throughout the design phase.” In addition, the design team needed to satisfy the needs of a disabled family member. They wanted him to be able to flow through all areas of the space and feel as if he could comfortably use the open kitchen and family room without any hindrance.
The clients were inspired by clean lines and simplicity. When they spoke about their modern Florida home, one could hear and see their enthusiasm and excitement to bring that simplicity into their new home. It became evident early on that their new space should be contemporary but the home’s exterior, as well as the neighboring community, had an old world, traditional charm. The goal was to avoid competing aesthetics while respecting both looks. The resulting interior design incorporated slab doors with both semi-gloss white lacquer and grey stain on horizontal grained oak. The rich dark oak base cabinets perfectly balanced the ceiling beams. The use of a stainless channel system, in place of traditional hardware, and the stainless toe kick completed the design. The Bertazzoni cooktop and wall ovens in stainless steel, Sub-Zero refrigeration paneled in white semi-gloss, and a stainless steel chimney hood enhanced the clean, uninterrupted lines. The island countertop is Thunder White granite in a leathered finish; the perimeter is Super White Quartz; and the nook table is Virginia Mist honed granite. The backsplash is a frosted glass tile.
The clients hope for quality, simplicity and functionality were beautifully achieved by the designers. Closed, solid front cabinets provide a “home” for everything in the kitchen. A seating nook with a large screen TV, as well as additional TVs visible throughout the kitchen and family room, satisfied the demand of watching multiple sporting events at one time. To finish it all off decorative lighting was carefully selected to make a “wow” statement.

We designed this lake house walkout basement with two sets of French doors to bring more natural light into the rec room and make it feel like first floor living.
To mimic the woods and lake we introduced hues in watery blues and earthy charcoals along with white to bounce light further into this formerly dark space.
Built in storage cabinets hold games, electronics and other items needed for this kid friendly space.
An adjacent bar provides beverages, refrigerated items, and a microwave to provide food on demand.
And a rubberized wall (not shown) brings hours of entertainment to the four children who live here and play soccer.
Beyond the living area, we added two bedrooms, a bathroom, and second laundry so the family doesn't have to trudge up and down the stairs to do laundry.
