Seated home bar - mid-sized transitional galley medium tone wood floor seated home bar idea in Los Angeles with black cabinets and white backsplash

The simple use of black and white…classic, timeless, elegant. No better words could describe the renovation of this kitchen, dining room and seating area.
First, an amazing wall of custom cabinets was installed. The home’s 10’ ceilings provided a nice opportunity to stack up decorative glass cabinetry and highly crafted crown moldings on top, while maintaining a considerable amount of cabinetry just below it. The custom-made brush stroke finished cabinetry is highlighted by a chimney-style wood hood surround with leaded glass cabinets. Custom display cabinets with leaded glass also separate the kitchen from the dining room.
Next, the homeowner installed a 5’ x 14’ island finished in black. It houses the main sink with a pedal style control disposal, dishwasher, microwave, second bar sink, beverage center refrigerator and still has room to sit five to six people. The hardwood floor in the kitchen and family room matches the rest of the house.
The homeowner wanted to use a very selective white quartzite stone for counters and backsplash to add to the brightness of their kitchen. Contemporary chandeliers over the island are timeless and elegant. High end appliances covered by custom panels are part of this featured project, both to satisfy the owner’s needs and to implement the classic look desired for this kitchen.
Beautiful dining and living areas surround this kitchen. All done in a contemporary style to create a seamless design and feel the owner had in mind.

Interior designer Emily Henderson collaborated with architect Annie Usher to design her brother’s house on the banks of the Willamette River near Portland, Oregon. The now-complete new build is described by Henderson as a “contemporary Pacific Northwest river cabin.”
Henderson used windows from the Marvin Ultimate collection to frame the natural landscape surrounding the home and to let in plenty of natural light. Many of the windows are clad in White Oak, infusing the space with warmth and texture.

Given that California has some of the strictest stormwater management requirements and the total amount of non-permeable areas on this project, the client was required to construct a 35,000-gallon rain harvesting tank per the Low Impact Development Plan Best Management Practice (BMP’s) standards. Our specialized drainage design team captured all on-site stormwater through trench drains, area drains, and downspouts which routed water to a mechanical sump pump that connected to the storage tank for irrigation use later. Rich and sophisticated are just a few words that easily describe this master bath. The Deep Aegean blue finish grounds the space with a sense of luxury, while the clean lines of the Edgemont recessed door style maintain a timeless, transitional appeal. The vanity area is enhanced with shelf valance lighting and a plush seating nook where a Custom Vanity Pull-Out provides convenient access to everyday items within arm’s reach, and roll-out storage drawers below keep fresh towels close at hand. Crown molding along the top and bottom of the cabinetry provides an elegant finishing touch, while toekick lighting creates ambiance and ease to see at night. Paired with the adjoining shower and tub clad in dark, textural tile, the design strikes a perfect balance between bold character and practical everyday usability, transforming the bathroom into a calming yet highly efficient retreat.

This white oak dining table looked so incredible in this space. We feel honored to have been chosen to build pieces for this amazing space.
The dining table has two pedestals that are solid white oak boxes with waterfall mitered edges. The two boxes are connected by two stretchers to support the gap. As with all of our tables, we recessed steel c channel underneath the table top to ensure that the tabletop remains flat over time.
Unfortunately, we didn't end up receiving any photographs of the base so we have attached a few of our CAD drawings of the piece so that you can visualize what we described above. The drawings don't do them justice but you will get the idea.
This white oak custom dining table was handmade in San Diego, CA.

Our clients described their style as dark, mood and bold. This powder bathroom was not overlooked during the whole home remodel. Black granite, a painted ceiling, dark terrazzo flooring and bold wallpaper created a big moment for the smallest room in the home.

Cypress cabinetry provides durability for this outdoor kitchen and the custom-built dining table, along with the range hood that is designed to match the indoor kitchen. Remote-controlled screens by Castle Services of SWFL descend from concealed openings in the porch structure to provide the homeowners with what Knauf describes as “365 days of sunsets.” Porcelain tile — from Ruben Sorhegui Tile — was selected to complement the side tables with its concrete-like finish, and shellstone graces the floor.

Built on the site of an abandoned fish packing plant, McKinley Burkart designed and built this mixed-use, multi-family complex that backs onto a waterfront dock. Surfer Chic would be the appropriate way to describe this laid-back residence that features materials like heavy timber and stone throughout the units. Besides luxury condos, the complex also features an oyster bar, spa and a coffee shop amongst tourism offices and other retail shops.

A typical older home in the Bay Area in need of a refreshment, the clients turned to Freeman Design Group to bring new life to this house. In addition, the family wanted to create a multi-generational structure for their parents by adding an ADU. We created a welcoming street scape facade and reorgainzed and simplified the interior layout to have strong connections to the new large covered patio in the rear yard. Warm, airy, sun filled and modern fully describes this house.

Simplified, clean, modern & functional would describe this finished kitchen. The original 1990s space was encumbered with posts and arches over the sink wall, making this narrow space seem even narrower. Our first step in simplifying the room was removing all the architectural superfluity and the ceiling soffit. We also removed the step-in pantry at the end of the fridge wall where it meets the family room and bar. We refashioned the island to serve as a workspace with storage, omitting seating because the homeowner didn’t need it. Faux doors at the family room end of the island finished the piece handsomely. Where the pantry used to be, we built a coffee bar and added a microwave drawer. The coffee bar is hidden behind the pocket doors of an appliance garage. We kept the wall ovens and built a cabinet pantry on the same wall, allowing for a convenient cooking triangle. The Wolf range top and custom hood offer a nice focal point with a backsplash of hand made clay tile for texture and variety. The lighted transom cabinets on either side of the hood and flanking the window provide texture, light and interest for displaying the clients’ cherished items. The hand made clay backsplash extends across the sink wall for unity and design coherence.

This year's ASPIRE DESIGN AND HOME Junior League High Point Designer's Show House prominently featured hansgrohe's new Joleena collection. We'll be sharing the final room designs with you over the next few weeks! High Point native Kate Hutchison of @kate.h.design, designed this charming hall bathroom in the historic residence. Kate says, "I don't know how else to describe Joleena other than to say it's the perfect transitional collection. Fresh and current, it's also classic. It's a no brainer, because its lines work really well with many other styles of lighting, cabinetry hardware and mirrors, whether they are contemporary or traditional. The polished nickel finish was perfect (it's one of my favorites), because I often like to mix and match finishes in the same space." Joleena is also available in matte black, brushed nickel and chrome finishes. Featured here: Joleena Widespread Faucet, Joleena 1-Jet Showerhead and Joleena Shower Trim, as well as Joleena toilet paper holder, towel ring and robe hooks.

Happy, bright and classic describe this space perfectly. An old fire place is brought back to life with stylish furniture.
