My client likes to have large dinner parties. This is an extendable teak table with stainless steel legs. It affords the client to have a smaller table day to day and make it larger when having a party. The shrub is called silver sheen and the way the sun dances on its leafs is really beautiful.

This gray rooftop deck, made out of composite boards from Fibron in "castle grey," is perfect for outdoor entertaining. LED lighting under the custom lattice privacy screen looks elegant and makes it easy to dine at night. The client wanted a better flow throughout their landscape, as well as introduce straight lines to a space to modernize the irregular shaped pool. Their upper deck was where they did a majority of their entertaining so ensuring this space was large enough for both dining and lounge was the starting point of the design. Introducing privacy from the many on looking neighbours, without completely blocking it off from the rest of their own yard was important. Laser cut privacy screens added this filtered privacy. A round hot tub was added to the back corner of the property, which otherwise seemed like wasted space. Highlighted by the privacy panels in the same pattern used on the deck to create some consistency. Trees were both maintained and added where needs along the property to add greenery and privacy. The entire space now feels open within the backyard, but private from neighbours.

The vision of the project was to provide a home filled with natural light and blurs the line between indoors and outdoors. The space was designed specifically to accommodate the needs and lifestyle of the client.

We went for lots of texture and foliage color in this small space. Ferns hold the composition together while the Persian Ivy, Rhododendron, Hosta and Heuchera provide color and leaf variation. This planting is partially under a deck.

Entire penthouse deck was redone. Four large, oblong existing planters were cleaned out and new screening plants, or a mixed planting, were designed and installed. Three large lightweight containers in black were substituted for existing ceramic containers. Two smaller matching lightweight containers were added to create a grouping around an existing sculpture.

In a few years when the Kentia palms reach a good height the Queen palms can be removed. Two of these were already on site and retained to provide height and sense of maturity. Paved area to be used for both outdoor dining/entertainment and chess.
