Another special feature in this kitchen is the bar/prep space where barware and serveware can be displayed behind glass front doors. Conveniently located across from this is an integrated beverage fridge which allows guests to conveniently grab a drink whenever they like. The L-shaped cherry island was stained a warm and rich color, providing a striking contrast to the soft sage tones of the perimeter cabinetry. The island countertop is a bold Brazilian Smoke Soapstone, which harmonizes well with the oil-rubbed bronze elements throughout. The soapstone counters appear dark gray, but a closer look reveals clouds of a brilliant jade-colored green. On the backside of the island there is a rounded banquette that defines this new, integrated dining area. It’s a unique gathering place where guests can be connected to those preparing a meal. A local furniture craftsman built a one-of-a-kind cherry and mahogany dining set for this banquette, which extends from 5’ diameter to 7’ diameter to accommodate a crowd. Above the table is the custom chandelier, forged in New England, the perfect center showpiece!

The lazy Susan that sits on top of it is actually 5 feet in diameter. But in the space, it was absolutely perfect. The groove around the perimeter is a subtle but nice detail that draws your eye in. The base is reinforced with floating mortise and tenon joinery and the underside of the table is laced with large steel c channels to keep the large table top flat over time. The dark and rich finish goes beautifully with the classic paneled bright interior of the home. This dining table was hand made in San Diego, California.

Inspiration for a mid-sized victorian home design remodel in Other

Weighing in at around 2,100 pounds this massive rebar handrail was fabricated inside the home due to its overwhelming weight. This handrail was made out of #18 (2¼” diameter) rebar and the balusters are #10 (1¼” diameter) rebar. At the top of the stairs a 90 degree bend was required due to the post placement. Overall, this rebar handrail sets the tone for this old industrial look.

FIR Wide-Plank Fir plank in 3-layer construction with small bevel on long side and approx. 5 mm top layer, with approx. 5 mm backing in the same wood and middle layer conifer. Tongue and groove on all sides for easy installation. This particularly robust raw material originates from native mountain forests (Austria), from trees felled in the winter months. Typical are bony, well-embedded knots up to 60 mm diameter and pronounced formation of the annual rings. Isolated knotholes up to 30 mm diameter are sealed with appropriate wood putty. Two false knots per metre of plank length are permitted. Any flaws are corrected with other knots or matching patches. Stress cracks up to 50 cm are possible.

This unique concrete jar is designed to work with votive or tea light candles, and can also be used for air plants or succulents. This piece is nice and sturdy, making it great for indoor and outdoor use. I hand pour and finish each piece and then apply acid stain which works differently each time, giving each jar its unique character. The final steps in the process are to apply a concrete sealer and add feet to protect the surfaces of your home. Cottage cheese jar particulars: Height – about 5 1/2 inches high Diameter of jar - about 2 1/2 inches Hole in the center - about 2 inches in diameter Weight – about 1 pounds 14 ounces Please note that these particulars vary slightly due to the handmade nature of these pieces. Care instructions: Each piece is sealed so you can wipe it down or rinse it off if it gets dirty. Please be sure to set candle securely into the candle holders and always use caution when handling lit or hot candles.

Most commercial projects aren't really worth sharing. They're usually utilitarian floor covering. This one was different. It started out to be normal every day ceramic tile, replacing old marmoleum that was coming up and coming apart. but when we got to the job to take a look at it, there was an area where they had originally put together a compass rose with the marmoleum. I mentioned the fact that it was my favorite design to create and install, and the owner's rep asked me if I'd be able to do the same thing, with the rings and so forth, and I told him no problem. And so it was to be. The coursing was continuous throughout the entire design, except the diagonal points. Also, two different colors of epoxy grout were used for this, so as not to bring out the grout lines in the design. By far, one of my favorite projects. The compass rose itself was 16 feet in diameter, with the outer ring being 22 feet in diameter. This was all laid out and fabricated on site, as you can see from the progressive pics of the installation
