Ideally suited for use on balconies, porches and decking, Outwater has augmented its offering of contractor's grade balusters, baluster rails, newel and porch posts with the introduction of new motifs to accommodate a range of decorative applications.
Comprising lightweight, durable, high-density polyurethane and non-corrosive structural materials, Outwater's Balustrade System is easy to install using traditional woodworking tools and is internally fortified with large diameter, high strength steel or PVC pipes (varies by model) for enhanced structural integrity as well as to meet stringent building codes.
Furthermore, unlike wood balusters, which require fastidious maintenance in order to avoid possible rotting or splitting, consequently diminishing their strength, Outwater's Balustrade System comes factory primed and is impervious to adverse weather conditions, ensuring its uncompromising dimensional stability and steadfast, enduring safety.
Also, in contrast to cement balustrading, which is unwieldy and necessitates laborious installation by masons, not to mention, being highly susceptible to breaking, crumbling and cracking, Outwater's Balustrade System weighs just a portion of cement balustrading, thus significantly reducing its comparative shipping cost.
Offered in approximate heights from 28-in. to 40-in. with 5-in. to 12-in. rail widths, installations can be further customized with the addition of corner and center newel posts, a variety of post tops, accent moldings and ball ornaments.

Natural elements are the centerpiece of this new construction’s thoughtful design and unique details.
Set on a standard Northbrook, IL lot, this 4-bedroom house makes the most out of its 2,900 square feet by working with beautiful, natural materials.
Thoughtful details include high windows that allow for both natural light and privacy, 9-foot ceilings in the basement, and a reclaimed wood beam arch separating the family room from the kitchen. The house’s exterior is noteworthy as well, with copper gutters, wide-planked white siding, and a welcoming front porch.
But the true star is in the backyard.
We were able to make this house very special (and very green) by adding the first village-approved rain garden in Northbrook. Rain gardens use vegetation, soils, and other elements to restore some of the natural processes required to manage water and create a healthier environment. We installed a 5,000 gallon sub-ground retention system to diminish the load of a large rain event on the property and the municipal system, while retaining water for the homeowner that can then be used for irrigation on the property.

A waterfront view like in this 1988-built master bathroom this is priceless, especially with the existing skylight. The bath was taken down to studs and rebuilt, removing a wall between the toilet/shower area and opening up the entire 140sqft space. Curbless shower, freestanding airjet tub, rainhead shower and porcelain tile and oil-rubbed bronze fixtures throughout. An additional intrigue was recessed lights in tub and shower areas that have option to turn on UV light after use to diminish bacteria.

Light, bright and clean. Note the deep niche in the shower designed to keep the soap out of the spray pattern and allow for ample bottle storage. I'm guilty of using decorative niches as a focal point but the inevitable 32oz. pink bottles tend to diminish the look.

The unique existing layout and beautiful wooden beams were something the client wanted to enhance and not diminish. By removing the eye-sore planter boxes, dated railings, and bulky tiled staircase, and replacing it with a gorgeous walnut railing and black metal cable system we allowed this space to be more open, modern, and cohesive.
New Oak wood flooring was installed throughout the living room, complimenting the wooden beams charmingly. New Taupe Tile throughout the kitchen, entry way, dinning room, and down the staircase created a perfect balance.

We retained the front-facing gable and ridge beam height of the original structure and minimized the impact of the 3-story addition using horizontal material changes to minimize verticality. The choice of a hipped roof over the addition vs. a gable further diminished its vertical presence.

This beautiful, but tired, eclectic craftmanesque home needed an interior makeover without diminishing its unique charm. The front entry was updated while an addition was added to the rear of the house so the kitchen and bathrooms could be expanded and redesigned.

Drainage Solutions & Curb Appeal Transformation
This project focused on solving a persistent drainage issue that was impacting both the usability and appearance of the property. Standing water and poor grading were creating functional problems while diminishing the home’s overall curb appeal—an issue many homeowners face when water isn’t properly directed away from the home.
Fowler Outdoor Co. approached the project with a design-build mindset, addressing the root cause of the drainage problem through proper grading, water management, and structural solutions. By integrating effective drainage systems with thoughtfully designed hardscape elements, the team was able to redirect water flow, protect the property, and create a more stable foundation for the landscape.
Beyond functionality, the transformation elevated the front yard’s appearance with clean lines, intentional materials, and a cohesive layout that complements the home. The result is a space that not only performs better during heavy rain but also delivers a polished, welcoming first impression.
This project is a great example of how solving underlying issues like drainage can completely transform both the look and long-term performance of an outdoor space.

This stunning freeform style pool is situated on the edge of Sydney’s Royal National Park in Engadine and covers virtually the entire backyard, feeling like it surrounds the entire house.
The freeform contour of the pool highlights the connecting tropical-style garden while the frameless glass fencing provides a discreet barrier without diminishing the impact of the overall design.
The glass mosaic border-line tiles contrast beautifully with the interior white/green fleck interior lining and natural pavers surrounding the edge of the swimming pool.
Fitted with advanced heating provisions, a Pandora smart cleaner and Viron Connect Controller, the owners have full control over the pool and water feature from anywhere within the house.

If you have a tiled shower area in your home, it’s very likely you’ve experienced problems with the grout becoming excessively dirty and ridden with displeasing black spots of mould. The underlying issue is due to inadequate ventilation which can be a real problem in modern insulated houses and occasionally the grout can get so imbued with contamination that the problem needs to be resolved professionally.
In the case of this Ceramic tiled shower area, located at a property in Galgate, Lancashire, mould had turned the grout black and had got into the sealant strip around the base. The property owner had tried using the run-of-the-mill cleaning products you can buy in superstores, but they simply couldn’t get the job done. So, she contacted me to see what could be done.
At Tile Doctor, we come across the problem of mouldy shower tiles very often. Excess soaps and shampoos – many of which contain chemicals that harmful to the grout – can quickly build-up if not removed, causing mould and soap scum to emerge quickly, and before you know it, you have a problem like this one.
Thankfully, with the right strength product and cleaning methods, mould can be removed quite easily. The cleaning product used here was Tile Doctor Mould Away, which does what it says on the bottle and can quickly remove mould and black spots from grout and silicone. I applied Mould Away to the grout and surrounding Ceramic tiles and left it to dwell for a short period, before starting to clean the affected areas carefully using soft nail brushes and a small amount of water.
Sometimes it is necessary to repeat this process several times to achieve the best possible results, but in this case two attempts was all it took to get the grout looking like new once again.
Following the cleaning, the area was rinsed thoroughly with water, before bring dried off quickly with a heat gun on a low setting. I then sealed the grout with a single coat of Tile Doctor Wall Grout Sealer, which is a water-based sealer designed to protect against water, oil and acid-based contaminants, and stop them from spoiling the appearance of the grout. It also provides a transparent finish that does not diminish the original colouring of the grout. To add the finishing touches, I polished off the Ceramic tiles as these were already fully glazed and did not require any extra sealer.
The before and after photos are a testament to how significantly the condition and appearance of the grout was quickly improved and needless to say, the customer was very satisfied with the result.
