We couldn't be more pleased with the LED strips we ordered. Our NYC co-op would not allow us to add any lighting connections into our cement ceiling, but I wanted to be able to walk into each room, flip the switch on and have the room well lit. We installed coves in all the rooms and love the way it turned out. I thought I needed the 4NFLS to ensure enough brightness but we had to install the 2NFLS strips as they had the UL rating. Turns out they were more than sufficient as we dim the lights late at night. The coves were made with steel studs mounted horizontally.

Bedrooms are one of my favorite rooms in the home, a bedroom must be comfortable and serene. I design master bedrooms as a private retreat for my clients. Elements of a great bedroom include: -Foundation: Don’t underestimate the power of a great night’s sleep. Your matress is the most important element in the room. We have some tips below from Chicago Luxury Beds about how to select the right mattress for you. You’ll have to come by and see it for yourself, stay tuned for the opening in March. -Fabulous Sheets: I love Pratesi, they make the softest most luxurious bedding in the marketplace. -Bedding Toppers: Accent pillows, cashmere blankets or a colorful throw will pull your entire room together. -Create a Focal Point: Use a great wallcovering, window treatment, piece of art or fireplace. -Mix and Match Furniture: Bedroom sets are a thing of the past. I love creating full dressing rooms for my clients and keeping furniture within the bedroom suite more decorative. Don’t be afraid to mix and match to create an eclectic vibe. Upholstered headboards are still a strong trend and allow for a personal touch by mixing shapes, custom fabrics and trimmings. -Window Treatments: Don’t skimp on window treatments. Decorative panels add softness to the room while shades should be black-out lined to guarantee a good night’s rest. -Lighting: I believe there should be a combination of ambient and task lighting in the bedroom. A great chandelier should always be on a dimmer. Bedside lamps or sconces should be on dimmers as well but should be bright enough to read by. Don’t forget lighting should be flattering, we all want to look our best, don’t we? A small 5'x8' guest bath that doubles as the powder room. The furniture style vanity has a storage drawer and open shelf below. The solid granite console sink is stunning all on its own (and it is very heavy, apologies to the crew). Featuring the Kohler Hydrorail, rain shower and hand shower in one. A clear shower curtain keep things simple and easy to clean versus a glass tub enclosure. A tub is preferred in some rental markets. Decorative grab bars are a perfect finish for this Maui ocean view rental. Dimmable overhead LED recessed lighting and designer wall sconces beautifully illuminate this small space.

This house in Lower Burns Park in Ann Arbor had a small, cramped and chopped kitchen with no eating area or space for a family to cook or gather. The Rochman Design Build Team stayed with the clients' feel for a more European kitchen, opened up the walls, and created a space where the family can now make dinner, do homework or put groceries away, all at the same time :-)

Recessed eyeball lighting with warm white LED bulbs were used to light the separate counter space areas. The recessed lighting over the island was partly prewired so they could be aligned evenly with the island counter space. The vaulted ceiling presented an added challenge to centering the recessed lighting.

Vertical grain wood laminate provides a modern look for this his and hers vanity. The black and gold accents add contrast to the light to mid tones of grey, within the room.

ELECTRICAL: LeGrand - the adorne collection the adorne collection - GFCI Outlet I put dimmers on everything! Always. It’s so nice to be able to control the level of light. The Legrand adorne dimmers and switches are the nicest and easiest switches I have ever personally installed. They look incredible, and are thoughtful from cover plate to how the outlets nest to take up less visual space. The best part about the adorne collection is the installation. I was so behind with installing tile and other elements I wasn’t able to install the switches and dimmers until the last day before my photoshoot. Since I hadn’t installed them before, I was concerned the install would be complicated but each piece nested into it’s plate easily and the cover plate went on with a snap. Legrand has handy install videos and each piece comes with detailed install instructions. I’m planning to install the adorne dimmers in the rest of my house and can’t wait to have the ease of control and clean look throughout.
