If your home design is traditional, contemporary, modern or eclectic, Graber vertical wooden blinds will look great.
This modern dining room design has a combination of faux vertical wood blinds and horizontal faux wood blinds, which ties the window treatments together, but allows for different light filtering / room darkening options, plus adds interest. What stands out is the wood dining room table that is similar in color has a table runner matching the color of the table base, wood bench and wood chair legs. Look closer - the light filtering through the wood slats creates interesting designs on the table top, which would change as the day goes by.

This modern waterfront home was built for today’s contemporary lifestyle with the comfort of a family cottage. Walloon Lake Residence is a stunning three-story waterfront home with beautiful proportions and extreme attention to detail to give both timelessness and character. Horizontal wood siding wraps the perimeter and is broken up by floor-to-ceiling windows and moments of natural stone veneer.
The exterior features graceful stone pillars and a glass door entrance that lead into a large living room, dining room, home bar, and kitchen perfect for entertaining. With walls of large windows throughout, the design makes the most of the lakefront views. A large screened porch and expansive platform patio provide space for lounging and grilling.
Inside, the wooden slat decorative ceiling in the living room draws your eye upwards. The linear fireplace surround and hearth are the focal point on the main level. The home bar serves as a gathering place between the living room and kitchen. A large island with seating for five anchors the open concept kitchen and dining room. The strikingly modern range hood and custom slab kitchen cabinets elevate the design.
The floating staircase in the foyer acts as an accent element. A spacious master suite is situated on the upper level. Featuring large windows, a tray ceiling, double vanity, and a walk-in closet. The large walkout basement hosts another wet bar for entertaining with modern island pendant lighting.
Walloon Lake is located within the Little Traverse Bay Watershed and empties into Lake Michigan. It is considered an outstanding ecological, aesthetic, and recreational resource. The lake itself is unique in its shape, with three “arms” and two “shores” as well as a “foot” where the downtown village exists. Walloon Lake is a thriving northern Michigan small town with tons of character and energy, from snowmobiling and ice fishing in the winter to morel hunting and hiking in the spring, boating and golfing in the summer, and wine tasting and color touring in the fall.

Inspired by a couple’s wish for open-concept living, a gourmet kitchen, and abundant natural light; this modern kitchen remodel exceeds their expectations and transforms their Boulder home into a place for shared moments around cooking and family. The open-concept layout connects the kitchen, dining, and living areas, fostering a welcoming atmosphere for everyday living and entertaining. The kitchen becomes a stage for culinary creativity, featuring expansive counter spaces, high-performance appliances, and strategic lighting that illuminates the cooking experience.
At the heart of the design, a stunning island anchors the space, its blue onyx countertop serving as a sculptural element that captures and reflects light. A dramatic skylight reveals the home’s structural elegance, frames captivating views of Colorado's blue sky, and floods the space with natural light. The vertical wooden slats create a soft visual boundary, subtly defining the family entry. Warm walnut cabinetry and accents introduce an organic element to the space, balancing the modern aesthetic with a touch of nature. The renovation achieves more than a kitchen redesign; it crafts a living environment the couple has always dreamed of - Photography by Dane Cronin

This remodel of a mid century gem is located in the town of Lincoln, MA a hot bed of modernist homes inspired by Gropius’ own house built nearby in the 1940’s. By the time the house was built, modernism had evolved from the Gropius era, to incorporate the rural vibe of Lincoln with spectacular exposed wooden beams and deep overhangs.
The design rejects the traditional New England house with its enclosing wall and inward posture. The low pitched roofs, open floor plan, and large windows openings connect the house to nature to make the most of its rural setting.

Designed as a home and studio for a photographer and his young family, Lightbox is located on a peninsula that extends south from British Columbia across the border to Point Roberts. The densely forested site lies beside a 180-acre park that overlooks the Strait of Georgia, the San Juan Islands and the Puget Sound.
Having experienced the world from under a black focusing cloth and large format camera lens, the photographer has a special fondness for simplicity and an appreciation of unique, genuine and well-crafted details.
The home was made decidedly modest, in size and means, with a building skin utilizing simple materials in a straightforward yet innovative configuration. The result is a structure crafted from affordable and common materials such as exposed wood two-bys that form the structural frame and directly support a prefabricated aluminum window system of standard glazing units uniformly sized to reduce the complexity and overall cost.
Accessed from the west on a sloped boardwalk that bisects its two contrasting forms, the house sits lightly on the land above the forest floor.
A south facing two-story glassy cage for living captures the sun and view as it celebrates the interplay of light and shadow in the forest. To the north, stairs are contained in a thin wooden box stained black with a traditional Finnish pine tar coating. Narrow apertures in the otherwise solid dark wooden wall sharply focus the vibrant cropped views of the old growth fir trees at the edge of the deep forest.
Lightbox is an uncomplicated yet powerful gesture that enables one to view the subtlety and beauty of the site while providing comfort and pleasure in the constantly changing light of the forest.
