the kitchen
The kitchen is on the threshold between the inside and outside, the most exciting part of the house. The folding doors and windows were carefully detailed to fold back and dissolve the barrier between inside and outside.

Considering the flashy nature and the innovative designs that rustic contemporary houses are sporting of late, it really is not easy to fabricate a home that can showcase a mountain rustic look with just the right touch of contemporary.
Yet, this bold design, is really something ‘different' and the moment you lay your eyes on it, you cannot but help fall in love with its well-defined plan, sleek look, amazing use of natural stone and integration of BC fir and raw metal into the structure. This house is a direct design response to site, form and utility of building material, which combine to create a solid, robust structure. Disclosure of the stone work, expansive art glass windows and timber frame accents creates a visual impact. The front entry and facade is aligned with the midday sun. The long side of the triple garage act as a retaining wall.
Inside this house, rooms slide into each other, dissolving the problem of further enclosure. The plan is unrestricted by the geometry and a sense of infinite space is achieved. Materials are reduced to a palette of metal, concrete, glass and timber, underpinning the desire for a rustic but still contemporary home to be basic and creating an embedded modesty.

Step into a sanctuary that dissolves the boundaries between indoors and out. With its vaulted ceilings, panoramic windows and beautifully crafted Tom Howley kitchen, this breathtaking extension has unequivocally become the soul of this historic Perthshire home.
Clever storage solutions like the slim pantry and bi-fold drinks bar offer stylish storage and easy access to everyday items as well as your favourite beverages. The large kitchen island allows guests to relax and socialise while the host serves up delicious food. The vaulted ceiling provides a dramatic effect, while the large glass doors at either end of the space flood the room with natural light, making this kitchen the perfect place to relax at any time of day.

How do you solve housing overnight guests in a small apartment?
A bedroom that dissolves open. Two oversized pocket doors turn the living room into a bedroom. A cozy room
without dedicating precious square footage to occasional guests. We leveled the floors of this landmark Brooklyn condo to ensure the doors would slide effortlessly.

Why does every side extension need to be different? The Modern Side Extension is a homely and uncompromisingly modern answer to the question of how to extend a terraced home. Respectful to neighbours, the Modern Side Extension shows that the smallest architectural projects can be transformational. No columns, no dodgy glazed infills, no ostentatious materials. The composition is a subtle game of solid and void, breaking down the threshold between old and new, inside and outside, a simple solution that can transform the way your home feels. We are more than happy to make another one, please contact us if you would like us to replicate this design on your home.
Outside, the conservation area-friendly brick, glass and bi-fold doors unite in a complex three-dimensional composition. Inside, the materials – polished concrete floors, brick, European oak and white sprayed MDF joinery – are warm and unpretentious.
Slim aluminium bi‐fold doors and frameless rooflight glazing ensure the distinction between inside and outside is dissolved; in effect making the exterior another room of the house and allowing light to permeate deep within the property. A simple skylight opens the home to plenty of light. Its a simple composition that encompasses long and tall views to sky and garden. Simple.

The Bath is very important room in the house and is probably the only one place for staying alone, relaxing, thinking and dreaming.
Water is a leading element in the idea of our Bath project because it represents the natural connection between this room and the man. According to the Japanese researcher Masaru Emoto water can memorize all effects of the surroundings, including our thoughts, changing its structure. Then, with these new properties, water can affect us. That is
why we entitled our project“H2O in Geometry”.
Water is a chemical substance with the chemical formula H2O. Its molecule contains one oxygen and two hydrogen atoms connected by covalent bonds. Water is a liquid at ambient conditions, but it often co-exists on Earth with its solid state, ice, and gaseous state (water vapor or steam). Water also exists in a liquid crystal state near hydrophilic surfaces.
All known forms of life depend on water.Water is vital both as a solvent in which many of the body’s solutes dissolve and as an essential part of many metabolic processes within the body.
The bathroom is divided in two areas at different levels with
specific functionality. Despite of this separation we aimed to
design the bathroom as an entire organism. The wash-basins, the
toilet and bidet are located at the lower level while the shower at
the upper level. The two levels are connected by stairs (which can be used for sitting).
Each area is determined so as to give freedom of the body
and the spirit. In the zone around the wash-basins, behind the mirrors there are niches in the wall which can serve without obtrusion. There is a storage cupboard between the wash-basins.
The sanitation area also has a niche which provides a place for books and a small rolling lap top.
