At dusk, the rear of this Foxcroft residence reveals a private retreat designed for effortless living and quiet luxury. Framed by mature trees and soft evening light, the home opens fully to the outdoors, creating a seamless connection between interior spaces and the surrounding landscape.
The architecture unfolds around a resort inspired courtyard, anchored by a sleek pool and expansive stone terrace. Clean rooflines, soft masonry tones, and warm interior lighting give the home a calm, inviting presence while maintaining a sense of architectural order and balance. Large expanses of glass dissolve the boundary between inside and out, allowing living spaces to extend naturally onto the patio.
The covered outdoor living area is designed for year round enjoyment, offering a sheltered space that feels just as intentional as the interior. Whether hosting guests or enjoying quiet evenings at home, the layout supports both gathering and retreat without feeling overstated.
Subtle landscape and hardscape lighting enhance the experience after sunset, highlighting architectural forms while maintaining a relaxed, residential atmosphere. Every element was carefully considered to support comfort, flow, and long term enjoyment.
This outdoor living environment completes the Foxcroft home as a true extension of the interior experience. A Kingswood residence designed not only to be seen, but to be lived in fully from day to night.

Nestled in the heart of Boulder, this 1950s ranch home was thoughtfully transformed to embrace modern living while honoring the charm and character of the neighborhood. The client wished for their home to become a place of gathering and community. This design embraces the open-concept floor plan by dissolving boundaries and encouraging organic interactions between the spaces within the home and with the surrounding landscape.
At the heart of this transformation stands a strategically positioned wood-burning stove, which can be enjoyed from the dining or living areas, perfect for cozy winter nights. The kitchen dining space emerges as the vibrant epicenter of this family-friendly home with a fluid transition to the patio and garden. Vaulted ceilings accentuated with skylights illuminate the space with natural light, creating an airy, expansive feel; while the French oak flooring introduces a touch of grounding warmth and nature. The bedroom wing, intentionally secluded, offers an intimate sanctuary. En-suite bathrooms feature hints of luxury, including a steam shower and a soaking tub, elevating the space for an indulgent spa experience.
Beyond the aesthetics, the fire-wise design includes non-combustible exterior materials, defensible space, and closed soffits. This fully electric home also prioritizes sustainability with features such as electric vehicle and solar power readiness, water-conserving landscaping, and an aging-in-place layout. This light-filled living room frames the home's wraparound balcony and mature tree canopy as its centerpiece, with wide sliding glass doors that dissolve the line between indoors and out. Wide-plank white oak flooring grounds the space in warmth, while a tailored cream sofa and swivel armchair in soft buttery upholstery create an easy, conversational seating arrangement around a dark wood coffee table with clean, architectural lines. Brass floor and table lamps add a quiet glint of refinement against the layered jute-toned rug, and a fireplace anchors the far corner for cooler evenings. The overall effect is serene and airy, a space designed to let the surrounding greenery and natural light do most of the talking.

A low-slung, single-story home stretched beneath a canopy of mature oaks, wrapped in dark wood siding with a deep cantilevered roofline. Walls of glass dissolve the line between indoors and out, framing the surrounding forest from every room, while board-formed concrete steps and a gravel terrace ease the transition into the wooded landscape.

The square pavers on the landing were removed and replaced with Brookstown Full Range Modular Pavers from Pine Hall Brick Company, Inc. These traditional wire-cut, square-edge clay pavers complement the existing brick beautifully. The old, deteriorating mortar joints were ground out and filled with new mortar (Workrite 2906 N Old Colonial from York Building Products). After that, the area was cleaned using an acid wash designed for brick (@Prosoco SureKlean 600), which effectively dissolves mortar smears and construction dirt without causing acid burns or streaks. Repointing rejuvenates the old brick's appearance and helps prevent water from seeping into the joints.

Recently, we embarked on a design project to redesign the entry landscaping with the timeless beauty of a Japanese garden, emphasizing Tsukiyama earth mounding. This technique, which involves sculpting gentle, rolling hills to reflect natural landscapes, brought a new dimension of tranquility and depth to the space.
By integrating a minimalist planting aesthetic and organic, dissolving lines, we achieved a seamless fusion of serenity with modern sophistication. The transformed entryway now greets visitors with unfolding views that perfectly complements the home’s treehouse views into Nichols Arboretum.

The space opens wide with floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors, dissolving the boundary between indoors and out: beyond lies a terraced backyard with native succulents, olive trees, and a fire pit (a must-have for Californian evenings). Large format terracotta tiles in warm, earthy neutrals anchor the floor, echoing the state’s Spanish colonial roots, while exposed oak beams on the ceiling add rustic texture.
