- QUADROR 02 DESK.
QuaDrorTM 02, or creatively better: an extra clear tempered glass top supported by an essential structure, consisting of four identical elements in an ''L'' shape (in raw metal or oil-stained ash wood) which intersect with each other. The result is an elegant and light table, capable of embellishing any environment by becoming its centerpiece.

The owners of this sleek modern kitchen have lived in this house for decades and came to us with a clearly distinct vision of what they desired for their home. We strived to successfully integrate the oriental contemporary aspects seen throughout the features of their home, while also complimenting the existing warm modern furniture. This minimalistic approach of balancing clean, straight lines effortlessly highlights the various natural materials used within the kitchen to yield an uncluttered serene impression. The space is grounded with a grid of large format porcelain tiles, and the cool tones of gray compliment the veins of marble cladding along the backsplash and walls. A white flush multifunctional utility wall is equipped with an integrated refrigerator, oven, steam oven, and warming drawers. The wall also provides an abundant amount of storage including two tambours purposefully designed as a coffee and prep station, while the other tambour functions as a space for daily appliances. The entirety of the tall wall is framed with recessed wood to emphasis this efficient work zone. Keeping with a sleek design, on the island, we incorporated a flush Wolf grill cooktop that rests flat on the island countertop. Above the dining table, the Logico Triple Nested Suspension light fixture hanging interrupts the structured elements and naturally creates a beautiful organic focal point amongst the flow of clean lines.

This kitchen is a replacement for a builder island in conjunction with a redesign of an existing desk and replacement of the countertops, backsplash and installation of new detailed soffit. The client wanted to stay within a specific budget and not replace the existing kitchen 100%. Instead she wanted a luxury island and high end appliances to allow her to cook more productively in her space. She wanted the desk space removed as she disliked its cluttered feel and to create a larger kitchen with distinct spaces for cooking, baking, cleanup and storage. The result is a gorgeous “new” kitchen with all the amenities of a six figure kitchen without the costs.
Elmwood plywood box, square inset frame - Brighton door, Inset with 1/16” radius (almost square edged) door. Custom pieces that wrapped around one another with decorative posts were modified to maximize the look from all angles, but allow for extra storage on the cooktop side. Overall design provided optimum usage of space for storage. The new island was designed to look like a furniture case piece, and give the entire kitchen an upscale look and feel. Thanks to Elmwood’s custom abilities the client received the best of all worlds - a gigantic island that not only makes a statement, it optimizes the workspace. Form truly followed function here, and maximized all aspects of the resulting space.
Appliances include a Wolf cooktop and downdraft vent, Wolf microwave drawer with a Wolf paneled warming drawer below it, paired with a Subzero side-by-side paneled built-in refrigerator and refrigerator drawers, with a Viking double wall oven.
Carrera marble tops with a beautiful ogee profile and custom stone backsplashes complete the renovation.

In the early 70’s we started building custom commercial cooking equipment. This led us to develop our own brand of a production line-up of cooking equipment based on those one-of-a kind designs, which is supplied nationally and internationally to the food service industry. Along with building quality equipment we have also built quality relationships. These relationships created another demand and inspired us to build our commercial grade residential cooking appliances.
Inspired by our passion for perfection, renowned for our product innovation and quality, American Range is a recognized leader in the commercial food service industry. Our commercial workhorse pedigree has been proven in the world’s most demanding kitchens for over past 30 years. In that time, innovative technology and robust engineering have advanced every aspect of our cooking equipment.
We earnestly feel we have perfected the professional home range. Our residential professional line of gas ranges, French-door wall ovens, and cooktops are commercial grade. Our professional cooking products have the soul and capability of our commercial ranges bended with luxurious style. To summarize, we have ‘civilized’ our commercial ranges. Melanie's inspiration for this sunroom was the grand era of the 1920’s when the prosperous gold coast of Long Island was built. The Sun Room pays homage to the glamorous, opulent lifestyles of the wealthy industrialists who were the residents of the Gold Coast estates in the 1920’s. We preserved the original aged brick walls and intricate metal work in the windows and chose materials for the room that would reflect and refresh the original design. Melanie chose two teal and white Mamounia rugs from The Rug Company in silk and wool to reflect the pattern in the metal work on the windows. Natural light was a major component when designing the sun room so we used reflective objects from mirrored pillows, brass light fixtures, brass objects in addition to a huge brass wall mirror to capture the natural sun light in the room. The estate is set on 6 rolling acres of land, so we used oversized planters with boxwood, and a huge aceda palm tree in the oversized ottoman to bring that outdoors into the room. A one-of-a-kind natural, driftwood table with teal resin from Andrianna Shamara's brings more nature into the room and sits in front of the waterproof Vondom sofa which was custom-made in Valencia Spain. All of the seating in the Sun Room is outdoor furniture and waterproof. A huge Brass sputnik light fixture sits above the sun room reflecting more light into the large brass mirror. An Ironies honeycomb table brings in texture to the room and holds reflective brass candlesticks and large piece of turquoise Slag Glass sits on an Oscar De La Renta book, another American style icon. A Milo Baughman brass bar carts holds a Christofle Martini shaker, martini glasses and a Gabriella Crespi brass and crystal ice bucket would service the captains of industries who displayed their fortunes from the industrial revolution with lavish parties in the their grand estates to celebrate the opportunities and accomplishments that they had worked so hard to achieve. The unprecedented economic prosperity was a distinctly unique aspect of Americana when wealthy industrialists, a hard working generation, helped promote American design and American Dreams. A medley of materials works together to create a modern kitchen with a distinctly traditional feel. Oversized slabs of Quartz from Silestone with a beveled edge and clipped corners. Custom cabinets with many interior fixings, fluted legs, closed light valance with puck lights, the continuous crown molding. We even did a special cabinet just for a small TV. So that we would not see any exposed wires. The interior of the cabinets are made to match the walnut floor color with a wood scrape melamine able to handle wear and tear. The cabinet doors where designed and manufactured especially for the client not too traditional not too contemporary. The backsplash is the belle of the ball, with its ornate shape and mat bronze finish. Each cabinet handle was carefully selected to blend with the proportion of doors. Giving this kitchen a warm touch. The large 24” x 24” rectified heated porcelain floor blends in nicely and conceals dirt tracked in by the boys. We can also find a wine rack , open cubbies for cook books, an oversized under mount double sink, extra large paneled refrigerator. What’s not to love. Every aspect of this home has been detailed and cared for with the clients vision of simple traditional that a family can live and Love for many years to come.

Within walled boundaries, Woody Creek Garden embraces its high alpine environment through explorations of stone and water that serve as unifying elements of form in the design of the various outdoor spaces. Through striking and distinctively detailed stonework, water is portrayed in its various states and forms – atmospheric mist, single rivulets, cascades, and still pools. Two courtyards interlink the residence allowing each room to enjoy the visual landscape. In the entrance courtyard, the sound from a carved 24”x 24” cut-granite fountain reverberates throughout the walled space. Placed for gathering and quiet contemplation, a pin-wheel arrangement of sculptural, granite slabs provide a honed surface for sitting while providing year-round interest. Each stone was individually specified with intentionally spaced core fractures, utilizing the extraction method to serve as sculpted details. Large sandstone pavers, set in sand and cut in an irregular, but geometric fashion bring a sense of modernity to the space. Throughout the property, stone detailing seek to heighten one’s experience of the landscape and views. Upon the home’s entry, an 18” rectilinear cut in the freestanding stone wall frames a distant peak, creating a singular reference to the outside world in this encased space. Emerging from the center of an organically-shaped carved sandstone slab, water is carried along a narrow 2” runnel sandstone cap, disappearing into the framed horizon. This glimpse to the west is the only opening in the tightly enclosed courtyard. From its opposite aspect, the feature creates a welcoming gesture at the home’s front entrance. The slender rivulet of water trickles from the sandstone slab above onto a honed granite plane, set within a sandstone terrace In contrast, a second promontory courtyard commands a strong presence over its alpine setting, leaving the steeply sloping site undisturbed. A 12’x 40’ reflecting pool – a thin sheet of water over honed black granite – captures the form and silence of the everchanging natural environment on its taut surface. Along its edge, water flows over a ½” radius edge, disappearing into a recirculating slot. Commissioned by Italian artist Bruno Romeda, a bronze sculpture rests upon an elevated granite plinth. Along its western edge, designers crafted a two-tiered, infinity edge detail. In the first vertical drop, water flows between the pool and perimeter stone walls, landing onto an intermediate bench, while the second drop introduces a chamfered edge, allowing water to embrace the vertical relief without splashing. Sandstone terraces provide continuous access to the various landscape features of the garden. At the base of the battered perimeter walls, a sandstone path leads to a fire pit, encircled by lichen-covered boulders. Along the courtyard’s eastern perimeter, water appears to emerge from the hillside, fracturing and falling against the irregular vertical stone wall, melting in a curtain-like formation behind the spa. The colors, distinctive detailing and striking stonework were selected based on their appropriateness to the context. From above, a rectilinear pool lies behind the wall, silently mirroring the sky above and offering no ostensible connection to the structure or to its source.

This grand estate is detailed with architectural appointments made from our Macedonia Limestone. The elegant "Temple of the Winds" column order is the hallmark of this renovation. The order is also known as Tower of the Winds based upon the ruins in Athens, Greece, near the base of the Acropolis. The ancient site is the design source for thousands of capitals employing this distinctive order.
Similar to the classic order of the Greek Corinthian, the capital features a single row of acanthus leaves surrounding a single row of palm leaves. This style became popular for domestic works in the 19th century. It had the elegance of the Corinthian order but was more restrained and delicate. Many architects preferred the Temple of the Winds order because the Corinthian order requires more carving detail (cost) and lends itself to an architectural building scale of monumental proportions. The scale of this order is easily expanded to produce stately columns as evidenced in this Atlanta Estate.
The Temple of the Winds order can be seen on the porch of the Virginia Governor's Mansion, the North Carolina State Capitol House of Representatives chamber, Sturdivant Hall in Selma, Alabama, and many versions in cities across the United States.
