This Modern English home has history! Passed down through family inheritance, it hadn’t been truly updated since 1965. Lucky us that we met Vince & Angelica after they searched for just the right design team! The inspiration for this now elegant home started with their award winning backyard garden and koi pond. Like their landscaping, elegance and details now abound throughout the interior of this home also! Every surface was transformed to create a ‘new’ old world charm. Double saturated shadowbox, unique wallpaper, and checkerboard tile details set the backdrop for our curated blend of furnishing and accessory elements from top to bottom. This used to be a musty utility area. We converted it into a playroom for the kids complete with built-in alcove beds and a full bathroom. The curved wall was the perfect location for a eye-catching mosaic in pale blue and cream. Flanked on either side by his and her vanities, the use of tile throughout the space is accented by glamorous brass hardware and fixtures.

An expansive deck with built-in hot tub overlooks Lake Norman. Fiberon deck boards are a low-maintenance answer for people who want to spend more time relaxing on their deck than scraping and painting or staining it.

The project design took the room down to the studs, combining a closet and bath to make one great bath space, and opening a closet to make room for a spacious shower. The layout was completely reorganized for a better use of space, relocating the toilet room, shower and adding a dreamy soaking tub.

This kitchen takes a different approach, with white cabinetry, a white marble countertop and white hanging lights. However continuing with the navy trend, there are navy and black countertop stools perfect for a breakfast bar or a quick snack.

The custom marble countertops and custom hardwood flooring are complimented perfectly by the natural light flowing through the large windows, and the countertop accessories placed throughout the kitchen.

This was a complete interior renovation project of a client’s second home. DEANE collaborated with the client on the design of 5 bathrooms and all the built-ins in addition to the kitchen. The home had an open floor plan with wide pine, bleached flooring throughout but was a challenge because of the various ceiling heights and support beams that needed to be accommodated.The homeowner wanted to able to casually host large gatherings without worrying about maintenance or upkeep. The kitchen cabinetry, featuring chamfer style doors, is painted a pale grey, with a darker, charcoal grey selected for the center island to accent the space. All appliances are stainless steel, with the dishwasher and trash/recycling drawers faced in the same material to mimic the dishwasher. The countertops are an engineered quartz in white, while the cooktop backsplash is a white ceramic tile in a soothing herringbone pattern. The counter cabinet with its glass front for dish storage and floating shelves that anchor two corners of the room are the designer’s favorite things about the space. The new floor plan design made more effective use of the space, accommodating multiple renovation needs into the kitchen. The new layout created an open galley kitchen with a 13 1/2′ Island with seating at each end, a cool-grey custom banquette with 2 tables.

A great aspect of this custom kitchen is the countertop stools. The colors throughout the kitchen are primarily brown and white between the countertop, floors, and cabinetry, however, the navy blue countertop stools add freshness to the look.

The second home of a California-based family was intended to use as an East-coast gathering place for their extended family. It was important to deliver elegant, indoor-outdoor living. The kitchen was designed to be the center of this newly renovated home, with a good flow for entertaining and celebrations. The homeowner wanted the cooktop to be in the island facing outward to see everyone. The seating area at the island has a thick, walnut wood countertop that delineates it from the rest of the island's workspace. Both the countertops and backsplash feature a Polished Naica Quartzite for a cohesive effect, while white custom cabinetry and satin brass hardware add subtle hints of glamour. The decision was made to panel the SubZero appliances for a seamless look, while intelligent space planning relocated the door to the butler's pantry/mudroom, where the wine unit and additional sink/dishwasher for large-scale entertaining needs were housed out of sight.
