From cops, cowboys and bikers, to sailors, lumberjacks and leather men — there’s a little something (and then some) for everyone. That-a-boy! Michael Reynolds is a New York-based creative director, curator, editorial stylist, book editor and design consultant. These Auckland homeowners wanted an industrial style look for their interior home design. So when it came to building the staircase, handrail and balustrades, we knew the exposed steel in a matte black was going to be the right look for them. ​ Due to the double stringers and concrete treads, this style of staircase is extremely solid and has zero movement, massively reducing noise. Our biggest challenge on this project was that the double stringer staircase was designed with concrete treads that needed to be colour matched to the pre-existing floor.

Our customer wanted a unique way to close off the mud room from the family room and chose to go with reclaimed chestnut which has a great patina. The door is 1 1/2 inch thick constructed with chestnut on both sides and finished in a Z cross brace pattern. This is a beefy door with heavy duty rollers and forged slide adding to the character of the door.
