This private studio, built in collaboration with producer, engineer, and pianist Ian Miller, is a fully custom creative space designed around his workflow and artistic process. The project blended NILES’ technical execution with Ian’s hands-on finishing work, resulting in a studio where every corner has intention and every system supports a seamless, plug-and-play workflow.
The structure began as a barn-style two-car garage with a second floor. After exploring several layouts and engineering options, we landed on a design that leveraged the high ceilings and existing footprint to create a dynamic and spacious acoustic environment. Generous daylight from surrounding windows connects the interior to the outdoors, while layered textures, warm tones, and custom finishes create a grounded yet inspiring atmosphere.
The Control Room is fully isolated from the rest of the building with sound-reducing wall systems, a full soft-ceiling bass trap, tuned corner traps, treatment throughout, and full-lite doors for controlled transmission and visibility. Though modest in size, it delivers accurate monitoring and integrates smoothly with the larger live environment.
Roasted Bean Studio was built to support any direction Ian pursues—from producing to mixing to live performance. The space provides the sonic palette and creative flexibility needed for a wide range of projects, offering a visually inspiring and acoustically reliable environment that empowers his work every day.

Nestled within seven acres of sloping hickory and oak forest overlooking Berkshire Lake in Taghkanic, New York is a 4,000 square foot lake house designed by JZA+D. This registered LEED for Homes residence proved rather challenging due to wetlands requiring JZA+D to work through the permitting approval process with the NY Department of Conservation. The project also required the review and approval by the Community Board.
With impressive views of the lake the home is dynamic and modern with a rustic feeling featuring stone walls, a large open-air porch and a two story chimney with two high efficiency fireplaces. The main living spaces open up to dynamic views of the lake and surrounding hillside.
Utilizing sustainable geothermal and solar energy, this LEED home also features tankless water heaters and double pane low-E Argon filled windows. All sustainable systems utilize heat recovery applications.

Rivington Street Building is a multi-family residential building in New York City that was designed, developed and constructed from the ground up by Paul A. Castrucci, Architect. In order to successfully take on the roles of developer and contractor, Castrucci utilized his ability to balance budget, schedule and constructability.
The building is a part of its community and its facade responds to the human and contextual scale. The base of the building utilizes brick, tying it into the surrounding neighborhood. The top floors of the building break from the contextual base in form and material. The corrugated metal saw tooth roofline is a response to the environment, bringing in soft, northern light while providing roof area for a Photovoltaic array of solar panels. The top floor is connected to a roof garden filled with native plants. The result is a light-filled, dynamic space that is shaped by its relationship to daylight and connections to the exterior.
Constructed in 2003, Rivington Street Building is an example of the firm’s energy efficient design that utilizes sustainable methods such as a high-performance envelope, a solar Photovoltaic (PV) array and rainwater collection/grey water system.

- SENDAI BOOKCASE. Sendai Crystal is the new glass version of the famous bookcase-sculpture that the architect Toyo Ito, winner of the 2013 Pritzker Prize, designed for Horm in 2004. The Milos project is a collaboration of Horm with the Design Center of Orizzonti, a renowned brand from the Brianza region in Northern Italy, which offers a large and highly-specialized collection of upholstered beds for the sleeping area. Milos was born from the idea that every home is indeed unique and reflects the personality and lifestyle of its guests. - INFINITY SIDEBOARD. The Infinity series containers are made of square units of 19''5/8W x 18''7/8D x 19''5/8H with lacquered frame (11 Horm colors) and doors veneered with bois blond stained beech (Horm finish). The doors are covered with three elements of decorative lacquered laminate attached by means of hidden magnets and whose arrangement determines the line pattern shown on the front of each container. Interestingly enough, each line moves across doors in a continued and seemingly infinite pattern, regardless of the chosen arrangement. Furthermore, the magnetic attachment allows changing the element arrangement at will to produce dynamic, original designs.
