A new take on Japandi living. Distinct architectural elements found in European architecture from Spain and France, mixed with layout decisions of eastern philosophies, grounded in a warm minimalist color scheme, with lots of natural elements and textures. The room has been cleverly divided into different zones, for reading, gathering, relaxing by the fireplace, or playing the family’s heirloom baby grand piano.

Inspiration for an eclectic hallway remodel in Tampa

This project was a gut renovation of a loft on Park Ave. South in Manhattan – it’s the personal residence of Andrew Petronio, partner at KA Design Group. Bilotta Senior Designer, Jeff Eakley, has worked with KA Design for 20 years. When it was time for Andrew to do his own kitchen, working with Jeff was a natural choice to bring it to life. Andrew wanted a modern, industrial, European-inspired aesthetic throughout his NYC loft. The allotted kitchen space wasn’t very big; it had to be designed in such a way that it was compact, yet functional, to allow for both plenty of storage and dining. Having an island look out over the living room would be too heavy in the space; instead they opted for a bar height table and added a second tier of cabinets for extra storage above the walls, accessible from the black-lacquer rolling library ladder. The dark finishes were selected to separate the kitchen from the rest of the vibrant, art-filled living area – a mix of dark textured wood and a contrasting smooth metal, all custom-made in Bilotta Collection Cabinetry. The base cabinets and refrigerator section are a horizontal-grained rift cut white oak with an Ebony stain and a wire-brushed finish. The wall cabinets are the focal point – stainless steel with a dark patina that brings out black and gold hues, picked up again in the blackened, brushed gold decorative hardware from H. Theophile. The countertops by Eastern Stone are a smooth Black Absolute; the backsplash is a black textured limestone from Artistic Tile that mimics the finish of the base cabinets. The far corner is all mirrored, elongating the room. They opted for the all black Bertazzoni range and wood appliance panels for a clean, uninterrupted run of cabinets. The picturesque Wapiti Valley provides a stunning backdrop for this unique home addition. Situated along the North Fork of the Shoshone River and just a stones-throw from the Eastern Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, this home is located within a few miles of the town of Cody, Wyoming, which is regularly ranked as the number one best place to live in the state. The A5f series of windows with double pane glazing was selected for the project for the clean and modern aesthetic, the durability of all-aluminum frames, and the ease of installation with integrated nail flange. High-performance spacers, low iron glass, larger continuous thermal breaks, and multiple air seals all contribute to better performance than is seen in traditional aluminum windows. This means that larger expanses of glazing provide the feeling of indoor-outdoor integration while also maintaining comfort and protection from the weather year-round.

The owner of this Lake Parsippany, New Jersey home is from Eastern European and had the desire to recreate the feel of homes from his own village. He was looking for the white stucco and orange clay tile roof along with balconies off the bedrooms to capture the views of the lake. The conical roof is mirrored inside in the Master Bedroom ceiling! He loved arches!

Ground up single-family residence; a very unique and difficult build given Granite Ridge’s topography and inherent boulders. The structure takes advantage of a creek running through the property by creating a series of waterfalls and ponds. This natural stream was relocated during construction and brought back into the courtyard design for year-round enjoyment. The home expresses a modern take on mountain materials such as stone and wood combined with steel, Italian cabinets, and large glazed openings. Large Unilux European windows provide a view of the western mountains and the eastern valley. The snow loading in the area is well above average and required a well-thought-out roof and hardscape design. The landscape and tree selection in the courtyard are equally inviting to people and to occasional wildlife visitors.
