This home’s noteworthy steel shipping container construction material, offers a streamlined aesthetic and industrial vibe, with sustainable attributes and strength. Recycled shipping containers are fireproof, impervious to water and stronger than traditional building materials. Inside, muscular concrete walls, burnished cedar beams and custom oak cabinetry give the living spaces definition, decorative might, and storage and seating options. This meditation studio lobby is designed to captivate the mind and heart from the moment you step through the doors. This enchanting space features a mesmerizing golden ombre painted wall adorned with numerous flickering LED candles, a large reclaimed wooden desk, and ambient music, creating a welcoming and immersive experience. Our team of visionary designers has meticulously crafted this meditation studio lobby to be a haven of tranquility and serenity. With every detail carefully considered, we aimed to create an environment that instantly transports you to a state of relaxation and mindfulness, setting the tone for your wellness journey. As you enter the lobby, your eyes are immediately drawn to the magnificent golden ombre painted wall. The gradient of golden hues, carefully applied, creates a mesmerizing visual effect that symbolizes transformation and renewal. Adorning this radiant wall are numerous flickering LED candles, casting a warm and gentle glow throughout the space, enhancing the sense of tranquility and creating an inviting ambiance. In the center of the lobby, a large reclaimed wooden desk stands as a focal point, exuding rustic charm and natural beauty. This sturdy desk serves as a welcoming point of contact for guests, where they can receive a warm greeting and any necessary information. The reclaimed wood not only adds visual interest but also promotes a connection to nature and sustainability, aligning with the principles of well-being and holistic living. This home’s kitchen isn’t large and needed to somehow hold a mudroom area as the detached garage enters into the space. I carefully planned out all storage needs and we were able to add a wide, double door cabinet closet by the back door. The upper area holds coats and clutter. The lower doors have hooks and boot trays for backpacks and shoes. Paneling the Subzero fridge helps with softening the weight of the large appliance, as does the panel on the dishwasher. Little details like the skirt on the toe area and the beautiful hood and island posts make this smaller work space truly special!

The Science of Light and Learning To understand the relationship between lighting and learning, it’s critical to grasp the concept of correlated colour temperature (CCT). CCT refers to the warmth or coolness of light, measured in Kelvin (K). Lower CCTs (around 3000K) provide a warm, cosy atmosphere, while higher CCTs (5000K or above) emit a cool, daylight-like glow. Studies have shown that cool white light, which mimics natural daylight, can increase alertness and mood, contributing to improved cognitive performance. LED lighting, with its ability to produce this desired CCT, makes an ideal choice for educational settings. LED Lighting: Brightening the Future of Education Energy Efficiency and Cost Effectiveness One of the main advantages of LED lighting is its energy efficiency. Traditional lighting solutions like fluorescent and incandescent bulbs consume much more energy to produce the same amount of light as LEDs, which is not only environmentally harmful but also financially costly. Switching to LED lights can result in substantial cost savings for schools, enabling them to redirect funds to other critical areas of education. Durability and Longevity LED lights are renowned for their durability and longevity. They have a significantly longer lifespan compared to conventional lights, which means less frequent replacement and reduced maintenance costs. This durability also minimises disruptions caused by light failure, providing a consistent, well-lit learning environment. Improved Visibility and Reduced Eye Strain With their superior colour rendering index (CRI), LED lights render colours more accurately, leading to improved visibility. This is particularly beneficial in educational settings, where activities often require distinguishing fine details and colours. LED lights also emit less glare than traditional lighting solutions, reducing eye strain and fatigue. This can lead to better concentration and increased comfort for both students and teachers. Incorporating LED Lighting in Classrooms: Practical Considerations When transitioning to LED lighting in classrooms, a few key factors need to be taken into account. Firstly, the lighting design should ensure an even distribution of light, preventing shadowy or overly bright spots that could distract or discomfort students. Secondly, the integration of dimming capabilities can provide flexibility, allowing educators to adjust the lighting level based on the task at hand. Finally, lighting controls can be used to take advantage of natural light, automatically dimming or turning off the LEDs when sufficient daylight is present. In the bath, I designed a spacious steam shower with duel bench seats to accommodate 2-4 persons. The tiles and seats are honed Durango limestone. It has a warm, slightly peachy hue and the overall effect is nurturing, calming. The hardware has a bronze finish including the 10” round, ceiling-mounted showerhead with a handheld body spray for rinsing and cooling. This native rock garden in Central Oregon was created to collect rain water and snow melt, and to celebrate seasonal effects. You can see that it is lower than the immediate area and has stone steps to the right climbing out of the depression. In this mid summer photograph you see fire cracker penstemon, pineneedle penstemon, rocky mountian pentemon, and yarrow blooming. The tall skinny plant is a scarlet gilia that will be covered in red trumpet bloom in August.

Client envisioned a home that capitalized on the views with minimal disruption to the desert landscape—mainly native saguaro cacti and massive rock outcroppings. The house presents a truly biophilic design—from the entry courtyard through all the rooms in the house—merging indoors and outdoors and emphasizing natural materials while creating a unique sense of place. A large, curved steel trellis and the custom-designed massive glass and metal entry door echo the curves of the rugged mountainous terrain. The house interior exudes a feeling of grandeur, displaying open, expansive spaces, floor-to-ceiling windows, and heavily wood-beamed ceilings blurring the boundaries between inside and outside.

Kanso home A Balanced Retreat for the Quietly Powerful In the heart of bustling Wadala, amidst the towering silhouettes of Mumbai’s skyline, lies a home that whispers rather than shouts—one that celebrates calm over clutter and intention overindulgence. Designed under the concept “Stillness in Structure,” this residence for the wonderful couple and their beautiful daughter, at Dosti Eastern Bay stands as a meditative retreat—an ode to balance, warmth, and quiet sophistication. The central design narrative revolves around creating a sanctuary that embodies restraint and timeless grace. Every surface, curve, and finish has been curated to exude composure. The palette—woven from taupes, soft greys, dusty beiges, and stone whites—becomes the visual language of serenity. Lighting plays a quiet yet profound role—concealed within coves or diffused through sheer drapes—casting a soft glow that mirrors the homeowners’ gentle temperament. The overall effect is of a space that breathes, inviting introspection and ease. The Living Core: Connection and Continuity The living and dining areas are designed as fluid extensions of one another, encouraging conversation and connection. With earthy finishes, clean silhouettes, and subtle textural layering, the rooms flow seamlessly into a balcony that becomes a serene escape. Soft furnishings transform the space into an urban oasis—a moment of stillness above the city’s rhythm. The dining corner, defined by warm tones and minimalist lighting, balances functionality with grace. Custom cabinetry with clean lines anchors the space, offering both utility and sculptural beauty. The Private Realms The master bedroom continues the home’s philosophy of quiet luxury. With muted undertones, warm timber, and linen textures, it exudes a sense of grounded comfort. A tailored study nook and soft lighting create an atmosphere conducive to focus and rest in equal measure.
