Some projects are about more than just updating a space—they’re about preserving memories. This screened-in porch was originally built by the homeowner’s father, making this renovation especially meaningful. Our goal was to bring it back to its original glory while honoring the character and craftsmanship that made it so special in the first place. With fresh screens, new paint, and thoughtful restoration work, this beloved family space is ready for many more years of morning coffee, summer evenings, and making memories.

We developed this innovative solution using a motorized mylar roller shade combined with a motorized cellular shade. With the mylar roller shade down, the views are unobstructed but 99% of the UV is blocked, minimizing heating issues during long summer days. The mylar shade can be retracted to allow full solar heating during the winter. Lowering the cellular honeycomb shade provides optimal insulation on the window, which is further boosted if the mylar shade is also lowered. Best of all, it can be controlled using hand-held remotes, or controlled or programmed for automatic operation, even from halfway around the world using a tablet or mobile phone.

Inspiration for a modern home design remodel in Philadelphia

Jackie wanted a fresh new look for her living room, and she REALLY wanted cream leather furniture. We found her this great set at an affordable price, kept the existing wall color and carpet, and let new fabrics and wall art bring in the color.
