Drewett sought to provide a tranquil retreat for a new-to-the-Valley surgeon and his family who were seeking the modernism they loved though had never lived in. With a goal of consuming all possible site lines and views while maintaining autonomy, a portion of the house — including the entry, office, and master bedroom wing — is subterranean. This subterranean nature of the home provides interior grandeur for guests but offers a welcoming and humble approach, fully satisfying the clients requests. While the lot has an east-west orientation, the home was designed to capture mainly north and south light which is more desirable and soothing. The architecture’s interior loftiness is created with overlapping, undulating planes of plaster, glass, and steel. The woven nature of horizontal planes throughout the living spaces provides an uplifting sense, inviting a symphony of light to enter the space. The more voluminous public spaces are comprised of stone-clad massing elements which convert into a desert pavilion embracing the outdoor spaces. Every room opens to exterior spaces providing a dramatic embrace of home to natural environment. Grand Award winner for Best Interior Design of a Custom Home The material palette began with a rich, tonal, large-format Quartzite stone cladding. The stone’s tones gaveforth the rest of the material palette including a champagne-colored metal fascia, a tonal stucco system, and ceilings clad with hemlock, a tight-grained but softer wood that was tonally perfect with the rest of the materials. The interior case goods and wood-wrapped openings further contribute to the tonal harmony of architecture and materials. Grand Award Winner for Best Indoor Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home This award-winning project was recognized at the 2020 Gold Nugget Awards with two Grand Awards, one for Best Indoor/Outdoor Lifestyle for a Home, and another for Best Interior Design of a One of a Kind or Custom Home. A growing young family with two daughters, this couple hired Brandi to complete their home’s interior decor. She loved working with these fantastic clients – they eagerly embraced a playful use of color and bold design choices! Finished in a colorful traditional style, this home is full of timeless architecture mixed with modern details. From a navy and bright orange office to a green floral dining room, each room on the main floor makes a unique statement but flows together through similar artwork and rugs. Upstairs, the master bedroom is a serene sanctuary. Brandi added wood beams, handmade wall coverings, and an extra custom-built closet. The two girls’ bedrooms are all about fun trends, personalized touches, and plenty of storage for their many prized possessions.

Maintaining the cabin’s 19th-century charm was the easy part for the Donelsons, who are Lewis and Clark period re-enactors. Jan Paul often plays Captain Meriwether Lewis with a group called the Discovery Expedition of St. Charles. The Donelsons brought their furniture from their previous home in St. Louis to the cabin. “It seems like everything we had prior to moving here fits, as if we’d been collecting things all those years just to put it in this cabin,” Jan Paul says. In the living room, he displays a replica of Lewis’s captain’s uniform, which he wears during re-enactments. There’s also a hand-carved paddle he uses on the Missouri and Columbia Rivers and a feather quill used for journal writing during the re-enactments. “Each item has a story of its own and a memory to go with it,” Jan Paul says. The items look perfectly at home in the cabin. The Donelsons are passionate about their cabin and about its importance as a living piece of history. “This place whispers to me every day, of where we have come from,” Jan Paul says. “Not everyone who crosses our threshold feels the connection, but for those who appreciate the sense of place, time and heritage our forefathers gave us, they find the cabin a comfort. They feel that warm embrace of romance from our heritage.”

After purchasing their ideal ranch style home built in the ‘70s, our clients had requested some major updates and needs throughout the house. The couple loved to cook and desired a large kitchen with professional appliances and a space that connects with the family room for ultimate entertaining. The husband wanted a retreat of his own with office space and a separate bathroom. Both clients disliked the ‘70s aesthetic of their outdated master suite and agreed that too would need a complete update. The JRP Team focused on the strategic removal of several walls between the entrance, living room, and kitchen to establish a new balance by creating an open floor plan that embraces the natural flow of the home. The luxurious kitchen turned out to be the highlight of the home with beautifully curated materials and double islands. The expanded master bedroom creates space for a relocated and enlarged master bath with walk-in closet. Adding new four panel doors to the backyard of the master suite anchors the room, filling the space with natural light. A large addition was necessary to accommodate the "Man Cave" which provides an exclusive retreat complete with wet bar– perfect for entertaining or relaxing. The remodel took a dated, choppy and disconnected floor plan to a bespoke haven sparkling with natural light and gorgeous finishes. Embracing the vintage, and her love for Shabby Chic style, this coastal beach client wanted to retain her original stove, as well as her original kitchen cabinets. We also kept all her vintage china and old appliances. We removed the old tile counter and backsplash, and replaced them with a butcherblock countertop from IKEA, and beadboard backsplash. The farmhouse sink and bridge faucet and vintage style chandelier were also purchased for the new space. Since my client doesn't use the old stove very often, she opted for no hood above the stove. The breakfast nook is quite tiny yet still suitable for morning breakfasts for two.
