Perched on a hillside in Southern Highlands, The Bluffs is a private gated community overlooking the Las Vegas Valley with unparalleled views of the mountains and the Las Vegas Strip. Indoor-outdoor living concepts, sustainable designs and distinctive floorplans create a modern lifestyle that makes coming home feel like a getaway. To give potential residents a sense for what their custom home could look like at The Bluffs, Blue Heron partnered with Cantoni to furnish a model home and create interiors that would complement the Vegas Modern™ architectural style. “We were really trying to introduce something that hadn’t been seen before in our area. Our homes are so innovative, so personal and unique that it takes truly spectacular furnishings to complete their stories as well as speak to the emotions of everyone who visits our homes,” shares Kathy May, director of interior design at Blue Heron. “Cantoni has been the perfect partner in this endeavor in that, like Blue Heron, Cantoni is innovative and pushes boundaries.” Utilizing Cantoni’s extensive portfolio, the Blue Heron Interior Design team was able to customize nearly every piece in the home to create a thoughtful and curated look for each space. “Having access to so many high-quality and diverse furnishing lines enables us to think outside the box and create unique turnkey designs for our clients with confidence,” says Kathy May, adding that the quality and one-of-a-kind feel of the pieces are unmatched. rom the perfectly situated sectional in the downstairs family room to the unique blue velvet dining chairs, the home breathes modern elegance. “I particularly love the master bed,” says Kathy. “We had created a concept design of what we wanted it to be and worked with one of Cantoni’s longtime partners, to bring it to life. With a modest patio between the home and the pool, the homeowners longed for better entertaining spaces and more connection between their interior, exterior, pool, and second floor. Copper Sky Design + Remodel began this renovation with the removal of a weathered pergola and creating a large opening from their living room to the patio for new sleek accordion steel doors that seamlessly merge the indoor and outdoor spaces. To further elevate the outdoor space, the adjacent patio was covered, and retractable screens and vinyl panels were installed. These features provide flexibility to enjoy the outdoors without the inconvenience of summertime insects, pollen, and unpredictable weather. The ceiling of the newly covered porch was custom designed to discreetly house the electrical components for the motorized screens, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance. A spiral staircase was introduced, leading to a second-story deck that spans the width of the home. This addition provides easy access to the outdoors directly from the bedrooms, offering a serene spot for enjoying the stunning views of the backyard. The deck features cable railing, which preserves the unobstructed view, and is adorned with elegant copper post caps. For added privacy, louvered wooden screens were installed at one end of the deck. Given the homeowners' joy for entertaining, this design included the installation of outdoor speakers and color-changing LED lights on the porch ceiling and upper deck railings. The LED lights allow for a customizable ambiance, enabling the homeowners to set the perfect mood for any occasion. Additionally, gas lanterns were added to the porch beams, casting a romantic glow over the pool area, and enhancing the atmosphere for evening gatherings.

“While researching about IKEA cabinets the one problem that came up repeatedly was the ordering process due to the number of parts needed. I came across IKD during our search, which helped to solve this issue. When I went to IKD’s site and read the testimonials, I was convinced that this would enable me to be the most successful at designing my dream kitchen,” she says. To complement the Rustic Country kitchen look, Teresa also selected a variety of high-end appliances, including a Whirlpool refrigerator; a Bosch dishwasher; a GE microwave; a Frigidaire Gallery Gas Range freestanding oven; quartz countertops; white matte brick tile for the backsplash and pendant lighting from Lowes. This established the clean, simple look she wanted as well. The results are a warm and open IKEA kitchen with a lot of homegrown flavor! It includes a large center island (which provides ample storage options and countertop space as well as an Old Farmer’s meat market sign); a custom-covered rustic hood; Luxury vinyl flooring from Lumbar Liquidators and plenty of natural lighting to highlight the paintings of barns, pigs and other farm animals found throughout the space and the adjoining living room.

In the end the client was overjoyed and received her full asking price after less than one month on the market.

David Woo Designs The Cirrus range hood by Best is larger than the 36" Bluestar range enabling it to function extremely well even though it is 52" above the range surface. We did not want a traditional suspended range hood to block the view from around the island and we certainly didn't want diminished fume removal performance. The Best range hood accomplished this in part by choosing an external blower that is well over rated for the setup at 1500 cfm. The only draw back was the additional cost of a make up air system that was built into the forced air heating system of the house located in the garage. The make up air damper automatically opens when the range hood drops the pressure in the house by 0.2PSI. The over rated external blower rarely needs to be run at the top speed of four levels and means the hood operates at very low sound levels. This benefits the kitchen and the bedroom above the kitchen. Normal conversation is not hampered at all with the hood on maximum and is barely noticeable on low. Level 1: 50db Level 2: 60db Level 3: 65db Level 4: 68db recorded 2ft below the hood

This natural house design sits nestled within a hillside and looks out over the natural creek that flows from behind the home, underneath the home and diagonally across the front yard. The design intent of the home was to not overpower the natural elements of the site, but to work with nature to create vistas for enjoying nature. The home was designed to look smaller than its actual size so it doesn’t seem foreign to the site and the hillside. The home embraces an open floor plan and uses multiple design features to define the many spaces and to enable connection with nature. Design features include varying ceiling heights defining space, usage of large 13 foot high movable glass walls, usage of rich wood floors and numerous architectural elements and design features that integrate nature and the modern vocabulary. Even though the site is large, the buildable area is small due to the natural waterway traveling underneath (underground and is not visible) the home and across the site and significantly limited the buildable area. As a solution, the architect designed the home to nestle into the hillside above the underground waterway and by raising the primary living areas, courtyard with pool, and rear yard. The rear lawn is made of natural looking synthetic material and is surrounded by indigenous Georgia vegetation. The first floor spaces were optimized and include entryway, art gallery, theater, workshop, in-law suite, garages and multiple utility spaces.

Designed by Angie Barwin of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Woodbridge VA in collaboration with Potomac Home Improvements, this primary bathroom features Green Forest Cabinetry in the Sierra door style in a White finish. The vanity countertops are MSI Q Smoked Pearl. The bathroom includes Italgraniti Lux Calacatta Mont Blanc field tiles, Islandstone Waveline Breeze Matte glass accent tiles and Islandstone Sliced Pebble Grey shower floor and under tub accent tiles. “The client was a joy to work with, full of energy and excitement for this project. He was looking for a spa-like feel in his Primary Bathroom. He had definitive ideas about what he did not want which helped steer me in the right direction,” said Angie. “We expanded the shower, added a freestanding tub in lieu of the existing garden tub, and brightened up the bath with white cabinetry, a light vanity top and a frameless, custom shower door. Removing the large tub deck and surround enabled the space to feel open and grand as well.” “The bathroom project exceeded all my expectations. Everyone performing the work was professional and the design of the new bathroom is fantastic. Well worth the effort and the costs were reasonable,” said the client. When marrying two Upper West Side apartments to accommodate a growing family’s needs, the team at Axis Mundi was faced with a conundrum: how to distinctly delineate public and private spaces without sacrificing the greater openness conferred by the expansion. So they limned that line with a six-foot square sliding glass door, which enables parents to block out the sounds of rambunctious youth emanating from private quarters, while also shielding sleeping children from the later night activities of their parents—all of it without obscuring light or affecting the impression of open-plan living. Continuity of materials—hand-scraped walnut plank floors, a custom bamboo veneer kitchen and living room shelving—enhances the sense of sweeping, loft-like spaces. Materials also create intriguing textural contrasts, as in a powder room where a high-tech glass sink and black stainless steel penny tile is softened by a leather door with contrast stitching one must open to enter the space. Highlights: A pair of Gio Ponti lounge chairs, black glass rock tables and a William Yeoward area rug from the Rug Company (living room), sliding glass shower door from Magnum in the master bath. That was Turnstyle’s responsibility here with this recent client project: bring back the joy of spending time in a home library. This space is precious to me, because I’ve known it for all the many years I’ve been working on this home. It sits proudly in the center of the house, greeting people upon entry, and, in my opinion, was a jewel box ready to receive its shine. We blew through a wall to allow it a more spacious entrance, helping anyone who visits to immediately see the stunning on-the-lake view. I applied custom wall to wall antique glass to each wall, floor to ceiling, to enhance the view, make the walls feel like they fall away, and also reflect all the now beautiful art and furniture pieces as part of its new design. Influences from things gathered, stunning reworked furniture from the 1970s and all around functional hero items, allow for better working. The main push residing in really enabling quality time there. This space is open is now refreshing and full of beautiful objects and memorabilia. An inspiring place to contemplate, one is surrounded, and influenced, by a strong, fully fleshed out space through my extensive love of pattern, color and unusual combinations.

Our latest redesign of this home’s main level seamlessly blends architectural elegance with contemporary comfort. The foyer now makes a striking first impression, featuring refined wall molding, a fresh coat of paint, and a custom veneer bench seat. A breathtaking chandelier in polished nickel and crystal serves as the focal point, adding a layer of timeless sophistication. Moving into the family room, we introduced a textured Manila hemp wallpaper on the ceiling, evoking the soft movement of clouds. The fireplace was refaced in quartz while the existing mantel was carefully reapplied per the client’s request. A 14-foot curved performance fabric sofa, complemented by custom velvet throw pillows, sets the stage for a welcoming yet luxurious space. To enhance the room’s flow, we incorporated a 10-foot diameter rug that follows the sofa’s elegant curve, along with new drapery, swivel chairs, and carefully selected occasional tables. Storage and smart functionality were key in this redesign. Custom cabinetry flanking the fireplace provides ample storage while floating shelves above, equipped with smart home-enabled LED strip lighting, showcase thoughtfully curated accessories. In the powder room, we introduced an ebony veneer push-to-open custom vanity topped with a striking Calacatta Viola marble sink. A custom mirror and premium light fixtures accentuate the rich new paint colors, elevating this small yet impactful space. The result is a refined, harmonious interior that reflects both the home’s architecture and the client’s desire for warmth and sophistication. Built on a dune overlooking Lake Michigan, this residence appears to emerge from the landscape. The project brief called for an artful house that promotes wellness and outdoor living. Rugged beauty and four-season adventure drew the owners to the area but presented challenges, including wildfire risk. The site needed a durable shelter that responsibly integrates with the environment. Clad in sand-colored stucco, the house will intentionally be obscured by grasses and junipers over time. Outdoor spaces are layered to match the undulating topography. A steel superstructure enables an ultra-thin roof with overhangs for passive solar design that withstand gale-force winds and heavy snow loads. A crushed-granite courtyard offers refuge on windy days. This space is enclosed by operable Cor-Ten panels that rotate open to reveal dune views or close for a cloistered experience. The courtyard is further defined by a deconstructed roof with an aperture that frames sky views. Expansive glazing and porcelain flooring unites interior and exterior, evoking a sense of inhabiting an infinity house. A screen porch, concealed by louvers, is a contemporary interpretation of a time-honored lake house vernacular. ​Layers of light and an edited palette of materials unify the interior and evoke a laid-back feeling of beach towns. On both levels, bronze glass walls artfully define rooms while preserving views.

The dining room’s table of this house in Rishon LeZion is lighted up by due Hoops suspended lamps, model “2”. These lamps were customized with the black finish, upon architects request. The metal frame of these suspensions by Axolight is twisted around and floating to remind the taste of lightness, given also by the glass walls and the curtains separating the indoor from the outdoor. The house is built on a narrow trapezoid lot, bordering a small green public park with ancient Eucalyptus trees. The clients wanted the park to be seen as a continuation of their own private garden – The house was designed in an “L” shape to wrap around the swimming pool, facing the public park. The longer side of the house (28 meters) contains the living room, the dining area and the kitchen, while the shorter side contains the bedroom. The connection between the two sides is a double space containing the lobby. Vitrines are installed throughout the inner side of the house, enabling a direct connection with the outdoors. Additionally, to provide maximal openness, the vitrines are disconnected from the columns. Glass corners in the living room and bedrooms are free of any constructive elements to allow full access to the garden. To soften the overall look of the large building so that it feels as if it’s a part of the neighborhood, the house was designed as two separate masses, one on top of the other, with the first floor being shorter than the ground floor, creating a kind of ridge. On this floor are four children’s suits with rooftop balconies. Two suits on each side of the house are connected with a bridge. The bridge goes across the double space of the lobby overlooking the entrance on one side and the swimming pool on the other. The basement has two additional children’s suits facing the well-lit English courtyard and the home theater.
