Copper Sky Design + RemodelWith a modest patio between the home and the pool, the homeowners longed for better entertaining spaces and more connection between their interior, exterior, pool, and second floor. Copper Sky Design + Remodel began this renovation with the removal of a weathered pergola and creating a large opening from their living room to the patio for new sleek accordion steel doors that seamlessly merge the indoor and outdoor spaces.
To further elevate the outdoor space, the adjacent patio was covered, and retractable screens and vinyl panels were installed. These features provide flexibility to enjoy the outdoors without the inconvenience of summertime insects, pollen, and unpredictable weather. The ceiling of the newly covered porch was custom designed to discreetly house the electrical components for the motorized screens, maintaining a clean and uncluttered appearance.
A spiral staircase was introduced, leading to a second-story deck that spans the width of the home. This addition provides easy access to the outdoors directly from the bedrooms, offering a serene spot for enjoying the stunning views of the backyard. The deck features cable railing, which preserves the unobstructed view, and is adorned with elegant copper post caps. For added privacy, louvered wooden screens were installed at one end of the deck.
Given the homeowners' joy for entertaining, this design included the installation of outdoor speakers and color-changing LED lights on the porch ceiling and upper deck railings. The LED lights allow for a customizable ambiance, enabling the homeowners to set the perfect mood for any occasion. Additionally, gas lanterns were added to the porch beams, casting a romantic glow over the pool area, and enhancing the atmosphere for evening gatherings.

Boca Tech and AutomationState-of-the-art home theater environment featuring a sound isolated room, a 227” 2.40:1 aspect ratio screen illuminated by a dual laser projection system, and an 11.2.4 immersive audio system delivering an outstanding movie AND music experience. The control system simplifies extremely unique customer requirements such as a dual screen mode to enable watching two A/V sources simultaneously – one heard through the audio system, and the second through headphones. Granular lighting control provides zones to support movie playback, game-room style usage, and an intimate reading and music environment.
The room was built from the ground up as “floating” room featuring a custom engineered isolation system, floating concrete floor, and unique speaker placement system. Designed by industry renowned acoustician Russ Berger, the room’s noise floor measured quieter than a typical recording studio and produces a pinpoint accurate reference audio experience. Powered by a 20kW RoseWater HUB20, electrical noise and potential power interruptions are completely eliminated. The audio system is driven by 11.1kW of amplification powering a reference speaker system. Reico Kitchen & BathDesigned by Angie Barwin of Reico Kitchen & Bath in Woodbridge VA in collaboration with Potomac Home Improvements, this primary bathroom features Green Forest Cabinetry in the Sierra door style in a White finish. The vanity countertops are MSI Q Smoked Pearl.
The bathroom includes Italgraniti Lux Calacatta Mont Blanc field tiles, Islandstone Waveline Breeze Matte glass accent tiles and Islandstone Sliced Pebble Grey shower floor and under tub accent tiles.
“The client was a joy to work with, full of energy and excitement for this project. He was looking for a spa-like feel in his Primary Bathroom. He had definitive ideas about what he did not want which helped steer me in the right direction,” said Angie. “We expanded the shower, added a freestanding tub in lieu of the existing garden tub, and brightened up the bath with white cabinetry, a light vanity top and a frameless, custom shower door. Removing the large tub deck and surround enabled the space to feel open and grand as well.”
“The bathroom project exceeded all my expectations. Everyone performing the work was professional and the design of the new bathroom is fantastic. Well worth the effort and the costs were reasonable,” said the client.

We Make It Our HomeThe living room was long and narrow but with an amazing bay window. Instead of a galley style living room used by the previous owner, we decided to change the furniture arrangement by putting one big comfy L-shaped sectional all the way to one side to create a pass-through area enabling a better foot traffic. We then added two side chairs for extra seats. We also mounted our TV on top of the fireplace to gain more space. Although it's not my favorite design choice to have TV on top of the fireplace because I think it takes away from the fireplace but we had to work within the limitation of the space.
For the fireplace, we bought wood stove insert and inserted it into the existing masonry fireplace. The look was updated by granite tiles around the insert and custom built wood mantel.
Buying wood fireplace insert was the best decision we made. First of all, it created a memorable space in our home. I LOVE the sound of wood cracking and the smell of wood burning. In winter nights we would sit around the fireplace and make s'mores like it's a campfire. Second, it's a clean burning and efficient heater. You don't lose the majority the fire’s heat up the chimney thereby saving money on your heating bill.
The coffee table is purchased from Wicker Emporium and it's made from reclaimed pine timbers giving the house a rustic feel.
The side chair by the fireplace is the perfect spot for me to relax, put my feet up on the large ball shaped knitted foot rest and enjoy a cup of cappuccino or cozy up with a good book.
