Kitchen - contemporary u-shaped kitchen idea in New York with flat-panel cabinets, light wood cabinets, multicolored backsplash and stainless steel appliances

This large classic family room was thoroughly redesigned into an inviting and cozy environment replete with carefully-appointed artisanal touches from floor to ceiling. Master millwork and an artful blending of color and texture frame a vision for the creation of a timeless sense of warmth within an elegant setting. To achieve this, we added a wall of paneling in green strie and a new waxed pine mantel. A central brass chandelier was positioned both to please the eye and to reign in the scale of this large space. A gilt-finished, crystal-edged mirror over the fireplace, and brown crocodile embossed leather wing chairs blissfully comingle in this enduring design that culminates with a lacquered coral sideboard that cannot but sound a joyful note of surprise, marking this room as unwaveringly unique.Peter Rymwid

Inspiration for a timeless kitchen remodel in Toronto

Michael Moran/OTTO photography We took a predictable suburban spec house and transformed it into a unique home of enduring value and family-centered design. The existing footprint was expanded where it needed it most: in the family and kitchen area, creating a large square room with open views to a protected nature preserve abutting the property. An unexpected glass canopy and teak entry door are clues that what lies beyond is hardly commonplace. The design challenge was to infuse modern-day functionality and architectural quality into a spec house. Working in partnership with Gary Cruz Studio, we designed the pared down, art-filled interiors with the goal of creating comfortable, purposeful living environments. We also sought to integrate the existing pool and rear deck into the overall building design, extending the usable space outside as a screened-in porch, a dining terrace, and a seating area around a stone fire pit.

Our client’s previous home in Hong Kong inspired the design for this bathroom. The designer chose blue herringbone tile to signify spaces with water. We also added playful koi fish wallpaper. The tub surround is made of marble, and the shower features marble components. The mirror is custom, with a walnut frame and a small ledge. This home belongs to a lovely couple in Chestnut Hill.

Stone: Orchard - Cypress Ridge Inspired by Italian and Provencal architecture, Cypress Ridge is designed to reflect the poetic harmony and enduring characteristics of age-old hilltop villages. A combination of irregularly shaped stones with colors ranging from sundrenched golds, earthy browns and faint olive green hues offset rust-colored accents to give each stone its own story to tell. Thoughtfully integrated divided shoe shelves beneath a cozy boot bench, along with open storage perfectly sized for decorative baskets, and decorative coat hooks ensure every essential from seasonal accessories to everyday items (i.e. gloves, hats, scarves, shoes, jackets, etc.) has its designated place. Overhead, elegant closed storage conceals and organizes, maintaining a pristine aesthetic that endures. On the laundry room side, experience the ultimate in ergonomic design with raised washer and dryers, seamlessly integrated for effortless access and reduced strain and bending. Below the machines, a locking roll-out shelf glides out smoothly creating a perfectly positioned platform to set a laundry basket at an easy-to-reach height for loading and unloading. We were hired to turn a 1950s split-level into a forever home for our clients, a growing family who fell in love with their home for the location. Over the course of two years, we transformed the space, adding an extensive amount of square footage to the home’s footprint, raising ceilings, and adding a third floor. We prioritized stylish and enduring materials like handmade tiles and natural stone to create a warm and livable aesthetic for family living.

This modern, open-concept living space blends warmth with refined sophistication. Custom dark accent wall cabinetry anchors the room, featuring a sleek fireplace, built-in shelving, and an integrated art television above the mantel. Designed with both form and function in mind, the cabinetry includes concealed doors that can be closed to discreetly hide the television when not in use, allowing the space to transition seamlessly between technology and art. Gold-toned Visual Comfort Sean Lavin pendants cascade elegantly above the staircase, adding a sculptural touch. Expansive black-framed windows flood the room with natural light, highlighting rich hardwood floors and a generous seating area ideal for gathering and entertaining. A formal entrance framed by an architectural arch creates a striking first impression, while a raised ceiling with exposed wooden beams adds depth and character as the space opens effortlessly to the kitchen.

The classics never go out of style, as is the case with this custom new build that was interior designed from the blueprint stages with enduring longevity in mind. An eye for scale is key with these expansive spaces calling for proper proportions, intentional details, liveable luxe materials and a melding of functional design with timeless aesthetics.
