This room is the Media Room in the 2016 Junior League Shophouse. This space is intended for a family meeting space where a multi generation family could gather. The idea is that the kids could be playing video games while their grandparents are relaxing and reading the paper by the fire and their parents could be enjoying a cup of coffee while skimming their emails. Shots of our iconic shed "Hanssel or Gretel". A play on words from the famous story, due to the families last name and this being a his or hers (#heshed #sheshed or #theyshed), but not a play on function. This dynamic homeowner crew uses the shed for their private offices, alongside e-learning, meeting, relaxing and to unwind. This 10'x10' are requires no permit and can be completed in less that 3 days (interior excluded). The exterior space is approximately 40'x40', still required no permitting and was done in conjunction with a landscape designer. The owners of this room were looking for a retreat where they could not only enjoy movies, but escape into music. As a result, this theater was designed with acoustics in mind just as much as the system that went into it. Outfitted with a set of Bowers and Wilkins CI series speakers and an Integra reciever, the audio in this room is unbeatable. To make sure the system runs smoothly, the room is equipped with a Control 4 automation system and an AudioQuest wire package. For the video half of the system, an Epson 3D Projector was hung from the ceiling, displaying on a 110 inch Stewart film screen. To make the retreat space complete, the room was furnished with 6 custom Palliser home theater chairs, allowing the clients to enjoy their ultimate getaway. Jason Robinson © 2014

Louisa, San Clemente Coastal Modern Architecture The brief for this modern coastal home was to create a place where the clients and their children and their families could gather to enjoy all the beauty of living in Southern California. Maximizing the lot was key to unlocking the potential of this property so the decision was made to excavate the entire property to allow natural light and ventilation to circulate through the lower level of the home. A courtyard with a green wall and olive tree act as the lung for the building as the coastal breeze brings fresh air in and circulates out the old through the courtyard. The concept for the home was to be living on a deck, so the large expanse of glass doors fold away to allow a seamless connection between the indoor and outdoors and feeling of being out on the deck is felt on the interior. A huge cantilevered beam in the roof allows for corner to completely disappear as the home looks to a beautiful ocean view and Dana Point harbor in the distance. All of the spaces throughout the home have a connection to the outdoors and this creates a light, bright and healthy environment. Passive design principles were employed to ensure the building is as energy efficient as possible. Solar panels keep the building off the grid and and deep overhangs help in reducing the solar heat gains of the building. Surround Sound two ways. For more casual, intimate viewing they use the 65" tv. When a movie is in order or a sports event then they drop the 110" screen and enjoy a big, cinematic experience. Imagine a 110" picture for less than some 75" TV's. RTI control system knows when to drop the screen, controls the sound and lights up the yard with music.

The client wanted a backyard that all the family could enjoy. The Rear project included: a new patio using EP Henry Devonstone in Pennsylvania Bluestone color with matching border; Segmental retaining wall for fireplace, hot tub area and outdoor kitchen / bar using Outdoor Living by Belgard Antique wall in silex blend; thermal flagstone countertop for bar; lighting; water feature - Aquascape Inc. pondless waterfall; outdoor fireplace with Ledgestone Breckenridge veneer; and landscaping.
