The old residence, a 1,423 sf beachside bungalow was purchased by the client in an effort to down size and center their family. The new is a 2,350 sf entire redesign of the old building footprint which has created an open kitchen, living and dining space that connects the front of the home to the back yard. The design of an open concept home forced the client to examine their family dynamic and came to realize that they really enjoy being in the same place together. Numerous skylights, tall windows, wall cutouts, sliding patio doors, and even half wall showers in the bathrooms make for open, airy, naturally lit spaces that flow seamlessly into one another. The kitchen is a focal point as you enter the home and was designed so that the utilitarian features are tucked behind the main wall providing a clean yet fully functional space. Warmth was added to the main space using Scandinavian white oak flooring and a dining bench that is built into the floor-to-ceiling cedar feature wall. The same cedar was used to line the kitchen island and the closet wall in master bedroom. The front of the residence features an ocean view deck that is nicely complemented by one of numerous simple elongated roof planes.

Dave's house has the same footprint as earlier 20K houses, but the size and placement of the porches has been redistributed to allow a larger front porch, a small back stoop, and an additional 9' length of interior space. Enclosing more space did not significantly affect the budget, since a large portion of the cost was embedded in the foundation and floor platform work. Construction techniques and details were streamlined and materials selected to allow for a very quick building timeline: the home could be built in 3-4 weeks. The gabled form of the house gives it presence and a sense of pride. The front facade consists of corrugated metal, while painted white metal (a more economical cladding material) was placed on the sides and rear of the home. This carpet was hand knotted in northern Afghanistan by Turkmen women using handspun Ghazni wool. This lovely design is inspired by an original Mughal carpet from Agra in northern India. The more you examine this enchanting piece, the more you appreciate the beauty and thought that went into creating this work of art. After the weaving is completed, the rug undergoes a rigorous antiquing process. This type of carpet can easily take up to a year to produce, and ultimately culminates into a beautiful, one-of-a-kind, luxe carpet.

Home and Living Examiner said: Modern renovation by J Design Group is stunning J Design Group, an expert in luxury design, completed a new project in Tamarac, Florida, which involved the total interior remodeling of this home. We were so intrigued by the photos and design ideas, we decided to talk to J Design Group CEO, Jennifer Corredor. The concept behind the redesign was inspired by the client’s relocation. Andrea Campbell: How did you get a feel for the client's aesthetic? Jennifer Corredor: After a one-on-one with the Client, I could get a real sense of her aesthetics for this home and the type of furnishings she gravitated towards. The redesign included a total interior remodeling of the client's home. All of this was done with the client's personal style in mind. Certain walls were removed to maximize the openness of the area and bathrooms were also demolished and reconstructed for a new layout. This included removing the old tiles and replacing with white 40” x 40” glass tiles for the main open living area which optimized the space immediately. Bedroom floors were dressed with exotic African Teak to introduce warmth to the space. We also removed and replaced the outdated kitchen with a modern look and streamlined, state-of-the-art kitchen appliances. To introduce some color for the backsplash and match the client's taste, we introduced a splash of plum-colored glass behind the stove and kept the remaining backsplash with frosted glass. We then removed all the doors throughout the home and replaced with custom-made doors which were a combination of cherry with insert of frosted glass and stainless steel handles. All interior lights were replaced with LED bulbs and stainless steel trims, including unique pendant and wall sconces that were also added. All bathrooms were totally gutted and remodeled with unique wall finishes, including an entire marble slab utilized in the master bath shower stall. Once renovation of the home was completed, we proceeded to install beautiful high-end modern furniture for interior and exterior, from lines such as B&B Italia to complete a masterful design. One-of-a-kind and limited edition accessories and vases complimented the look with original art, most of which was custom-made for the home. To complete the home, state of the art A/V system was introduced. The idea is always to enhance and amplify spaces in a way that is unique to the client and exceeds his/her expectations.
